Birthdays SAILING AWAY TO RING IN MY 30TH 2 November 2011

It’d been raining virtually every single day in October, so I was getting pretty dismayed as my birthday partyย approached. After all, it was aboard a yacht, and it really ain’t the same when it’s thunderstorming outside.. not to mention the fact that it’d then be cancelled ๐Ÿ™

I know it was a lil dangerous to have my 30th birthday aboard a yacht that’s so dependant on weather, but I reallyย wanted it because it’s not every day that we all go on yacht trips, and I thought it would be nice to have a small and quiet celebration instead of throwing a big bash. My only problem was the guest list, because I tried to ย invite people that knew everyone else, or at least almost everyone (so there wouldn’t be any awkward moments or need for introductions). Easier said than done, because I hang out with a variety of friends in various groups. But it all worked out in the end, whew!ย The downside was that none of my Sydney and Shanghai friends could make it.. it’s painful when you live in various countries, you leave a lot of friends behind ๐Ÿ™

Anyway, we prayed really really hard for fab weather leading up to the day, and ended up waking up that morning to perfect, sunny, blue skies. OH THE RELIEF! In fact, it stayed sunny yet cool the entire day, making it one memorable and gorgeous yacht trip ๐Ÿ™‚

No yacht is complete without it's very own model ๐Ÿ™‚

Our photographers of the day, who were kind enough to bring their kickass cameras. All photos here were snitched off them!

We were like delighted little kids running around the yacht, checking it out. It was freakin’ gorgeous!! With 3 comfortable bedrooms, 2 beautiful bathrooms that looked ย just like hotel bathrooms, two spacious living areas and everything spic-and-span. The decks were all clean and no weird mouldy/wet bits around – thank goodness!! I have an irrational fear of being barefoot in public places so was really relieved to discover the yacht wasn’t weird ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lovely interior. We spent 99% of the time outside though!

And then……. we were off! The skies were crystal blue, the white clouds were fluffy, and the weather was fantastic. I couldn’t quite believe it, to be honest ๐Ÿ˜‰ I mean, LOOK AT THE PHOTOS BELOW. Does it seem like we’re in Singapore?!?! It almost was like we were back in Sydney… it was that lovely.

The fab weather had us all scurrying to the top-deck as we zoomed along, enjoying the sights and generally being amazed that we were actually in Singapore, LOL. It’s moments like these that make me love life in general ๐Ÿ™‚

Off off and awaaaaay!

Wheeeee

Drunk on life ๐Ÿ™‚

BLISS

Best part of the yacht trip? The swimming! It was at dusk so the sun was gorgeous across the water, but it was still really warm so we all jumped in merrily – though some more hardcore as others, choosing to jump off from the top of the yacht (!!) instead.

Boy, swimming was FUN. I actually don’t like the whole swimming-in-the-sea business (hellooooo yuckky face, messy sticky hair, have to shower afterwards) but I LOVED it. Splashing around with friends, playing with the lil one (don’t you love how little kids make you feel young again? Muahahaaa), chilling out in the water. Ahhhh… I would do it all over again. In fact, wish we could do this every week.

SWIIIIIIIIIM TIME!

Ready.... set....

After our swim, we enjoyed the sunset over a freshly-grilled BBQ meal and wine. My only disappointment of the whole trip ย was that, despite paying $$$$ for the food, it wasn’t much at all ๐Ÿ™ I think it justย filled everyone so we weren’t hungry, but it wasn’t a large spread or anything. To be honest, I’d expected twice the amount as well as a lot more seafood/meat. ย Plus a lot of fancy ย canapes or something. Well, at least the food they cooked up was yummy!

I think I'm quite enjoying life ๐Ÿ™‚

The gorgeous sunset

My super sweet cousin Amelia surprised us with a birthday cake… fromย one of my faves, Awfully Chocolate. Yum yum yum yum yummmmyyyy!!! It was a bit surreal, being on a yacht and blowing out my birthday candles to celebrate my 30th. Or at least, tryingย to blow the candles, because guess who snuck in there and huff-and-puffed them out first……. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So here we are, two 30 year olds.... after spending the past 12 years together ๐Ÿ™‚

Looks like such a lovely time! Very picturesque. You look so beautiful in the photos of just you and Chris with your cake.

happy birthday!! ๐Ÿ™‚ how is it that you’re surrounded by such gorgeous people! ๐Ÿ™‚ it totally looks like an fashion ad! ๐Ÿ™‚

GREAT pics! There’s nothing quite like having a party on a yacht – being out in the waters, soaking in the wind, sun and the smell of salt water! Of course, awesome company is a MUST! LOVE IT!

Glad you had a great time!

Lil elliot loved it, so not sure if you have taken Sean on a yacht yet but if not, you def should… he’s at the perfect age!

happy belated birthday Bev! glad the weather worked out perfectly….the sun definitely smiled down on all of you that day! xo

Aww..that looked like a wonderful time ๐Ÿ™‚ The sky *was* perfectly blue and clear! BUT I find that strangely the sky in Singapore seems clearer than the one in KL..hahahaha, well it maybe it shouldn’t be too surprising.
Happy Birthday again! and have a wonderful 30th year ๐Ÿ™‚

Haha it’s v unusual for Singapore to have such gorgeous weather.. not too hot and not raining. We were very fortunate ๐Ÿ™‚ And made an even better birthday coming home to your gorgeous flowers!! xoxo

I would have been quite annoyed if it rained actually coz all the effort would have gone to waste! Gonna try see if I can get a booking for the yacht again in December for my parents to try it out.

Aww I know, you guys would have liked it, we’ve never been on a yacht together too!
We’ll be in Seattle in Dec.. any chance you guys might be interested in going there? ๐Ÿ™‚
