Yeah no kidding, eating healthily is just way too much of an effort. I do like yoghurt with mango bits in it though, yum! i just bought a 6-pack today – the first time I’ve ever bought that in my entire life *feels proud*

Yogurt
What, you’ve got mango flavored yogurt there?!? ARRRGGGH!!! How come we never get mango flavored stuff in the States?! Mangoes are my favorite fruit in the whole wide world!!
Oh, sorry, went off on a tangent there! Hee hee! Yeah, yogurt’s generally good for you. Just watch out on the sugar and fat, like the others said. As long as you’re pairing it with other healthful foods and an active lifestyle, it shouldn’t hurt one bit. But too much of anything is bad for you. Don’t force yourself to eat a whole container; if you get full two-thirds of the way through, save the rest for later, and you’ll feel a lot better.
Re: Yogurt
I LOVE mango too! π It’s a tropical fruit and very popular in asia.. I love it when they’re super ripe and juicy and sweet.. mmmmmm.
Re: Yogurt
Oh, sure, rub it in! ::cries::
not so unusual.
most women I know could also eat anything they wanted, all the way up to 25, then it would come back to haunt them (slowly). it’s not unusual to feel weird when changing your eating habits, it will get better with time.
I don’t know about the yogurt..
Re: not so unusual.
Probably, or when they give birth and their metabolism just gives up on them π
Oh dear Bev, You poor girl. Yes, living and eating healthy in the 21st century is the most complicating thng ever. It was probably much easier in the good old days ( and I mean really old days) coz you didn’t have soooooo many products to choose from. its as complicating as getting the best skincare regime nowadays.LOL.
Now first of all, your doctor was right and if your cholestrol level was really high then you’d better buck up and take a good hard look at your eating habits because its NOT uncommon for 20 somethings to fall down dead from a heart attack these days! If your cholestrol levels are high that means you have a high risk of it clooging your arteries by forming these hardened plaques along the insides of your arterial walls and it invariably involves your coronary vessela( the arteries supplying your heart with blood supply) and that can lead to a decrease in the blood flow for your heart and thatmy dear will lead to what we call a heart attack.
Now, anything “good” in large doses is bad for you.
Next, things like bacon and sausages and ham and egg yolks are landmines filled with fat and cholestrol. If you really like to eat meat, take “white” meat. Like turkey and chicken without the skin.”Fat free” foods are most likely ladened with sugars. So becareful with the amount of ‘fat free” foods that you take. Just because its “healthy” that doesn’t mean its good for you to take a large amount of it.
Common foods that have a high cholestrol content are: Quails eggs, mutton “red meat”,egg yolk, prawns and of course alll the processed meats that can be oh so delicious:(
Basically you really need to take more veg.and fruits. Bananas are ok but then again, 1 large banana is equivalent to a bowl of rice!!!!
The reason why we need the the veg and fruits is to provide us with fibre ( and of course its nutrients).so there’s no 2 ways abt it:(
There’s so much more info. out there. Maybe you can try..http://www.about.com and search their website. They have alot of useful informatin. Like they have one on walking also on jogging.
If there is anything else you wanna know just let me know.

heh no kidding.. it’s hard to try and be healthy and exercise. Especially when I have NO support whatsoever. Pretty much all my friends are guys and they eat like pigs. And Chris hates it when I try to eat healthy or exercise. I was in the yoghurt aisle the other day and he said “what did you DO with my girlfriend??!” and I’m eating a mandarin now and he’s complaining that I’m eating it instead of a bag of chips π If he was a health nut, it would be so much easier!
I actually eat a lot of chicken, cos it’s cheap, haha. I find it really really really hard to cut back on my unhealthy food though – as in it’s almost impossible for me to do it. So I figured if I just exercise, it’ll at least be better than nothing right?? ‘Cept I haen’t gotten round to exercising yet, I just keep finding something else to do instead!!!
yogurt is good, cos it helps ur stomach have bacteria which kills e bad bacteria.
l-acidophillus. π
BUT! even though the label says 99% fat free. it means sugar loaded.
lots of carbohydrates = calories = stored = fat.
i rather u eat something fatty like fried chicken. cos fat in that form will be digested. more likely than carbohydrates which are stored.
end of story? 99% fat free = sugar loaded.
frm jessie
Ah, no. The fat in fried chicken is NOT more easily digested! It’s more likely to be stored because when you eat carbohydrates they are turned into glucose. The glucose is used as body fuel so provided you are active and burn it off carbohydrates are OK. The fat in fatty foods is much much harder to burn off.

Yeah… my tub is sugar loaded, I checked. It has 15% sugar and I really noticed it cos I don’t really like sweet stuff!
Basically in a product like yogurt the two things you need to watch out for are the fat content and the sugar content. Your yogurt was 99% fat free so that’s great, but it still means it could be full of sugar (as it says in the article someone’s posted above) as there is no fat in sugar, but it’s still not good for you!
But if your yogurt was 99% fat free AND low in sugar (plus you mentioned it was mango flavoured – if it had actual bits of mango fruit in it, that’s even better) then that’s pretty healthy, good for you!! I have to say in any case, it’s better to eat yogurt for breakfast than pancakes/eggs/bacon etc – they’re definitely not healthy (eggs have a MASSIVE amount of cholesterol in them). And you should always try and eat breakfast because if you don’t you’re more likely to get hungry mid-morning and eat a bar of chocolate or packet of crisps. Low-fat yogurt, cereal with low-fat milk, toast with low-fat spreads or low-sugar jams, and fruit are really good healthy breakfast options.

You’re right about the sugar content. As I was eating it, I was thinking that my lips felt kinda sticky and sugary.. I checked the pot after reading your comment and the stuff is 15% sugar! I don’t even *like* sugar that much.. i’m a savory person. And yeah, it had mango bits in it which was cool, but I wouldn’t mind less sugar cos it was too sugary anyway :T
I’m eating a mandarin now instead of a packet of chips *proud*

Something along the lines that it was “fattening”. I always thought yoghurt was HEALTHY, GOOD food…?
pfft only if it’s the full fat one π
yoghurt is great :
don’t know about it in huge servingsthough.. might upset the bacteria ballences!
haha! no it’s not. it has plenty of calcium which brought out my jaw, that’s about it, but it’s not fattening unless you had plenty of full-cream dairy products like i did.
I heard full-cream milk isn’t good for you either.. the ‘mucus’ stuff in it causes cancer or something like that. But skim/light milk is sooooo nasty!
WTH? LOL bev where HAVE you been hearing all these things from? π

I’m eating a mandarin now instead of a packet of chips *proud*

did they say *why* yoghurt is bad?
WTH? LOL bev where HAVE you been hearing all these things from? π
erm.. *lol*.. I dunno.. but everyone says skim/light milk is better. The bloody stuff is *transluscent* though!! *shuder*
Hey.. we’re online at the same time.
lol yes we are!
