Ebay Question
Hi Beverly,
Sorry if this seems like a random question. Just wondering what you usually ask your seller to do with shipping, Global Express or Priority Airmail by USPS? What would you usually prefer that’s reliable and doesn’t cost more than the item itself! π
Thanks for answering my question and congrats on earning great interests!
Re: Ebay Question
If it’s a small but heavy item, it’s US$5 flat-rate by Global Express, which I love. If it’s bigger, then US$9 flat rate. I hardly ever ask for Airmail as it usually ends up being the same price if not more expensive than Global Express!
Thanks Beverly! I’m actually buying some Manolos from Ebay so it’d be quite bulky and heavy. Here’s what the seller had quoted me:
Express mail (3-5 days, includes insurance): $24
Priority mail (4-6 days, insurance not available): $16
Airmail (4-7 days, insurance not available): $15
I’d probably go with Global Express then π
Thanks again sweety!
Re: Ebay Question
Ooooooooooooo which Manolos are you buying?? I’m thinking of getting some Jimmy Choos on eBay! Do Manolos and Jimmy Choos have knock offs though? Worried I’ll get a fake or something :X
I reckon Express is probably the best, since it offers insurance π Oh and Airmail offers insurance too, I’m certain.

I’ve seen Manolo J.Lo boots knock offs before but not the other styles… Certainly not Jimmy Choos coz they tend to have more classic and basic styles (like one tone pumps or slingbacks), making them less of a ‘fashion/fad’ item, ie the demand for knock-offs are low.
I guess the thing with designer shoes is that it’s hard to sell fakes on Ebay as you can tell its authenticity just by looking at them, the quality and attention to detail are uncompromising. Jimmy Choo and Manolos make exquisite shoes, sorta like artworks in its own category… π So I tend to believe that most of the Manolos & Jimmy Choos are geniune. Just make sure you buy from reputable sellers and even if it’s a fake, you can certainly spot it straight away when you get the goodies…
Sorry if I’m rambling on, you’re definately more of a Ebay expert than I am! I just got myself a gorgeous pair of Jimmy Choos mules from David Jones! It’s absolutely stunning! And they’re so comfy!! π
Do you use paypal too?

They are gorgeous! I do go for Jimmy Choos more though as they’re quite basic and I can wear them to work. Is the $$$ price justified ‘cos they’re a lot more comfy? Lots of nice-looking heels tend to be not that comfy :T
I’ve never bought Jimmy Choos on eBay so thanks for the info π I’m going to go for it and HOPE I don’t get a fake! π
Re: Ebay Question
Well, for me, a good pair of shoes is like a life-long investment. Why? Because shoes are actually meant for walking and protection of your feet,(apart from being gorgeous and brightens up any old boring outfit), so I’ve always valued comfort over everything else. Used to get these stupid blisters whenever I wear high heels or closed pumps and thought it’s because I have relative wide feet. But boy was I wrong! Another thing is that I could never walk properly when I’m wearing heels, especially pointy stilettos, they’re always really tight with thin wobbly.. But not Jimmy Choos, nuh uh.. I can literally run a 100m race in my Jimmy Choos! They’re not only comfy but fits the shape of your feet perfectly with this soft cushiony-sole so it doesn’t even feel like you’re wearing 3″ high heels!
Think of it this way, you probably have to replace your *average* pair of shoes every 6 months (well at least that’s the case for me) but good quality shoes last a lot longer (I had my first Manolo three years ago and it’s still in great shape and fits like a glove). More importantly, poorly made shoes are detrimental to your foot health and it’s bad for your posture and your back as well ! So yeah, it definately justifies the $$ price for me π
Re: Ebay Question
I really agree that good/comfy shoes are a must, since it’s your feet we’re talking about. Didn’t realise that $$$ shoes like Jimmy CHoos really make a difference though! You got me all excited now π Oooooooo…. I’m going to DJs asap and checking them out!

Hey, it’s 5.25% VARIABLE interest..does that means that the interest wld be something like performance-based?

I think the “variable” means at they can change the rate in the future.. as they confirmed with me that I can put in ANY amount of $$ and it’ll still be 5.25%

Can I just ask something about ING. If you link it to your normal bank account, doesnt your bank charge you a fee to transfer it online? If they do, doesnt that defeat the purpose of interest?

no. what you do it go to your ing account, and they sorta do a direct debit to getn the money from your regular account. So long as you don’t have a direct debit limit, or whatevcer, then you’re fine.
Oh that’s fantastic.. so glad I signed up with ING!

Wow, I just got back from my appointment with two agents on these interest and insurance stuff with Prudential. It’s such a coincidence to read the same thing when I read here..
Well, the best interest rate here is 5%. But still better than DBS/POSB’s 0.01%.. =P
I never wld have signed up with any insurance/interest plan if they didn’t stop me to do their survey. Still think it’s still early and too young to think about interest/insurance/investment plans at my age.. =P

I reckon any interest above 3% is really good.. Citibank is offering 5.4% but like HSBC it’s being really fussy and a pain so I just gave up!

Re: Ebay Question
Ooooooooooooo which Manolos are you buying?? I’m thinking of getting some Jimmy Choos on eBay! Do Manolos and Jimmy Choos have knock offs though? Worried I’ll get a fake or something :X
I reckon Express is probably the best, since it offers insurance π Oh and Airmail offers insurance too, I’m certain.
Re: Ebay Question
Thanks Beverly! I’m actually buying some Manolos from Ebay so it’d be quite bulky and heavy. Here’s what the seller had quoted me:
Express mail (3-5 days, includes insurance): $24
Priority mail (4-6 days, insurance not available): $16
Airmail (4-7 days, insurance not available): $15
I’d probably go with Global Express then π
Thanks again sweety!
Re: Ebay Question
If it’s a small but heavy item, it’s US$5 flat-rate by Global Express, which I love. If it’s bigger, then US$9 flat rate. I hardly ever ask for Airmail as it usually ends up being the same price if not more expensive than Global Express!
Just ask for the weight of the item, then calculate at http://ircalc.usps.gov π
Ebay Question
Hi Beverly,
Sorry if this seems like a random question. Just wondering what you usually ask your seller to do with shipping, Global Express or Priority Airmail by USPS? What would you usually prefer that’s reliable and doesn’t cost more than the item itself! π
Thanks for answering my question and congrats on earning great interests!

*starry eyed*

Hehe.. well with free $15 just for signing up and no catch, it’s a pretty good deal for Aussies!
Hey, it’s 5.25% VARIABLE interest..does that means that the interest wld be something like performance-based?
rene
