We are gonna do something a bit out of our comfort zone and are off to watch Goldilocks and the Three Bears in a few weeks… IN MANDARIN!!!
SRT’s The Little Company presents the Mandarin version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the second installment of our Trio-series featuring music and lyrics by the Laurence Olivier award-winning West-End musical theatre songwriting duo George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.
The English version was showcased here in 2013 and was a big success, so now they’re back with the same production, but 100% in Mandarin. It’s language immersion at it’s best!
I personally reckon it’s a pretty fab way to engage children in Mandarin. Most will already know the story, and kids are so quick they’ll be able to piece it all together and pick up Mandarin along the way. And so will we as adults! I figure that since it’s targeted for young children, the Mandarin will be pretty basic so we will also understand it. I hope….?
