Eurotrip, HOLIDAYS, Switzerland SWITZERLAND: Popping into Germany via Lake Constance 1 August 2015

Man, check out that killer view! I can’t stop staring at this photo (unedited, btw) and I couldn’t stop staring at this awesome view in real life.

We did a day trip to……. Germany. Something I find pretty cool about Europe is that it’s so easy to duck in and out of neighbouring countries. Nothing epic, no passport, you simply….. drive over.

We were at Lake Constance, which connects Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, is the third largest lake in Central Europe.

It’s absolutely gorgeous during the summer.

We did a cruise on Lake Constance, of course. It’s not cheap (nothing ever is in Europe), but it’s worth it because of the scenic views. Here we are soaking in the delicious summer sunshine and getting a tan. Ahhh… I miss it already.

The boys had a blast on the cruise and enjoyed the sights, waving to passing boats and running all around the deck. Also, acting like monkeys. Thankfully everything in Switzerland is incredibly (and bizzarely) pristine and clean – don’t even get me started on their public toilets in high-traffic areas – so I didn’t freak out with them rubbing themselves all over the floor.

We did some shopping whilst in Germany, thanks to the low Euro and especially in comparison to the Swiss Franc (which is determined to make every tourist bankrupt – you heard it here first).

The boys were kept amused with running around the charming cobblestone paths and playing with (icy cold) water fountains.

Speaking of water fountains… you get these random (drinkable) water fountains all over Switzerland. And this water is incredible – shiveringly cold and so fresh and so clean. We stopped at every fountain we could see, wherever we went. Never seen my kids so addicted to water before!

Coincidently decked out in blues, to match the blues (and turquoise) behind us. Lake Constance is so worth a trip if you’re in Switzerland (or Austria. Or Germany)!
