Got a really funny comment yesterday and wanted to share:

i dont know what is more sad, your need to tell the world about your baby all the time, or how damn ugly it really is. look at the last picture, seriously !! he looks the the ugly little creature from the hobbit. your husband is not a good looking man at all and mixed up with whoreish asian gene you killed your sons chances of ever having a normal sex life ever again.

LOL!

But awww, I feel sad they have so much hate & anger in their life they’ve been consumed by it πŸ™

May God bless you with love, light and happiness. May you gain some self-respect so you don’t feel the need to repeatedly visit someone’s blog and post anonymously out of fear & bitterness. I hope your life improves and you feel better soon.

SMILE, life is simply fabulous! πŸ™‚

I love reading your blog including all your baby posts – Hunter is such a darling! It is shocking that somebody could actually leave such a comment and I think you handled it very well. Public bloggers constantly face a risk of trolls abusing them, their loved ones etc, but I sincerely hope this does not stop you from keeping a public blog.

Your life is definitely fabulous compared to that sad troll! πŸ™‚

Think it’s absolutely awesome that you can take it well and laugh it off – which is the way comments like this should be treated!

Absolutely adore reading your posts, and Hunter looks really really adorable! πŸ˜€ Congrats again!

Woohoo! Late to the “party” – as usual!

I agree with the first…or was it the last comment, I can’t make out which is funnier, you blowing raspberries or the fact that someone had all that time to go through ALL your blog posts and then write that horrible comment – I mean I’ve had to comment using my phone and its A LOT of work!!!

BTW…I LOVE your Hunter’s photos, and seeing as how time is passing so fast (omg one month old in 2 days time!!!), I’ll sadly be reminded of my age when you start posting photos of Hunter waving at all the “aunties” *sob*

Take care and keep posting! πŸ™‚

Re: Woohoo! Late to the “party” – as usual!

Yeah.. it’s a LOT of effort to hate on someone like that, poor thing, lol!

WOW! You are so right, how consumed with bitterness and hatred must they be… what a horrible existance!

I think you are a stunning couple and Hunter is a perfect synergy of you both (especially his skin).

I dont have kids, and at this stage my husband and I are not considering it but I love hearing about everything from your birth to nursing stories. Learning from others direct experience is what makes you appreciate your life, and strive for more. Please keep sharing – you guys are amazing.

Hehe we do find his skin colour fascinating.. sometimes it seems Asian, sometimes Caucasian! But I suppose time will tell as babies do change their ‘look’ as time goes on..

I hope my experience is interesting/informative for you, when and if you decide to have children πŸ™‚ They really are so much fun! hard work, but fun

I have been following your blog for a number of years. Like you, I am a S’porean female living in Sydney. Like you, I got married in 2009 to a non-Chinese (African) and was surprised when we even got pregnant and were due at the same time with boys.

I can see how your blessings can sometimes cause a less confident person to develop a lower self-esteem. Thankfully, I left those kind of thoughts back in my 20’s. And from the many who’ve commented, you are well-liked.

So this is from one new mother to another – Praise & thank God for His grace and mercy to us. And I have to say that Hunter looks really, really cute. I didn’t think that genetically slim parents could have a nicely rounded baby but he is adorable. (My Mum thinks Chris is good-looking and she’s quite hard to please. Hahaha!)

And finally, this is your blog; we’re merely visitors. So if anyone doesn’t like what they see, hey, there are plenty of other things on the world wide web.

God bless!

Hi and how fun to read about you.. we lead such similar lives! I envy you being in Sydney.. really miss the place. We’ll be in SG in May for a holiday though (and for Hunter to meet my relatives) so really looking forward to that.

Thank you for your kind words. Chris is going to be especially delighted you consider him slim, hehhehe.

PS. If you have a blog do let me know the URL, I’d love to read. And CONGRATS on your son!

I can’t believe that people can mail you that!! wauw just wauw very low. I love your blog , your tweets and your funny comments. Keep posting delish/cute pics of food & family so I can continue enjoying all the way here in Holland.

Yeah.. it’s just sad some people can be so consumed with that much bitterness in their life πŸ™ Ah well, life goes on!
How awesome you live in Holland.. I’ve always wanted to visit there πŸ™‚

You handled well πŸ™‚ You are a big hearted person.

Take care and post more pictures of Hunter! You are not boring me at all with his pictures.

Hi Bev,

Ditto to the above comment. I visit your site once in a while (a little more than that when you were at your last month of pregnancy waiting to pop!) and similarly while I’ve read your blog on and off the last couple of years, do feel the need to comment to tell you to ignore losers that comment the kind that you received.

Hunter is a beautiful baby and your husband and you make a very sweet and quite obviously loving couple (the post he wrote when you gave birth was SO lovely) so I just wanted to give my two cents to say, do ignore people who make flash surface judgements, they’re just so not worth it (or maybe they’re young and they dont know any better.. πŸ˜‰ and people who leave inflammatory, anonymous tacky comments are just classless.

All the best to you and your growing family πŸ™‚

Ooo hullo hullo! Dya have a blog too? would love to check it out.. it’s been yonks.
And thanks for your kind words. I suppose there are all sorts of people out there, so whatever floats their boat…!

PS!
Talk about a LiveJournal Noob, about my original post, I was actually trying to reply to the last comment on the first page (posted at 2011-02-21 08:22 am UTC), in case my first sentence didnt make sense, my msg ended up in no-man’s land LOL

Ya I’m with you – I reckon there are always gonna be people that dislike you (esp when you air your whole life online), and that’s perfectly normal. But to write down really hateful things and repeatedly visit someone’s blog is waaay too weird for me – surely there are more interesting things to do in life πŸ˜‰

I had a blog even back in PLC days you know, but it’s lost in cyberspace now I think LOL! I must’ve written such crap then too… teehee.. You should start yours up again!

My goodness what a sad, bitter and twisted person he / she is. Sounds to me like pure envy because your life is so much better than theirs in most likely every aspect. And just have to add that I have the Asian gene and it hasn’t damaged my sex life in the slightest, LOL!

If all Asian people have a crap sex life, then I wonder why more than 1/3 of the world’s population are of Chinese descent πŸ˜‰

What a sicko! All I can say is that person is jealous of you. Hunter is a beautiful baby and that person is just horrid. There are some real nasty people put there.

That was some pretty over the top nastiness. You handled it very well. As one with no kids, by choice, I think you have done an amazing job of explaining things as you learn them yourself, and sharing what it’s really like every step of the way.

Aw thank you hon. I know I do bore some people who have no interest in babies.. and i feel guilty about the massive influx of baby pics, but it’s all so new to us still so we can’t help it πŸ˜›

siaooo lang

D I S G U S T I N G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stupid idiot buffalo! but yeayyy dont be mad over those person! we should fell sad for them instead!

See you soon in may, hon πŸ™‚

Re: siaooo lang

Heheh you are funny!
And ya, looking fwd to seeing you again.. hurry and have a baby soon too so we can be mommies together, teehee

Hey Bev

I have been following your blog for a while now, prob 1yr. And i do enjoy your blog very much. You have a beautiful family, very envious!!!=). I hate haters that have noting better to do with their time. We do need to work on making life beautiful for everyone around us, and you do a great job with sharing super cute pics of Hunter!!

You handled it so well! if it were me, I think I would of had a melt down lol! I can’t believe the people out there! Don’t you worry, hunter is the cutest little boy out there and will grow into a great young man with parents like you! Stay strong girl!

I would be upset if someone I know and respected came right up to my face to say that, but someone so fearful that they’re anonymous just makes me laugh – heh!

This is what I do not understand about people and social media sites (lj, fb, twitter…) they CHOOSE to follow you, they could easily choose to NOT follow you. Why do they think that they have any say of what you post? It’s your blog, twitter, fb..whatever..yours being that you post whatever the heck you want! If you wanted to post 20 pics of Hunter a day that’s your prerogative.

People are just jealous and hateful, glad you took it in stride. πŸ™‚

Wow…that was totally uncalled for. If he/she has a problem with what you post on YOUR journal, then he/she shouldn’t be reading it!!

Respect for you as a person

It takes all kinds to make up this world, the Wife and I have had our share of racist ass remarks. Your response was wonderfully crafted. I have found a deep respect for you as a person. Hunter is a beautiful baby please keep posting.

Re: Respect for you as a person

I can only imagine the kind of comments you two would have received.. good on you for sticking it out, you make a wonderful couple πŸ™‚

From Larae

Is that person serious???

WOW. Such bitterness. Sounds like jealousy to me.

I’m gonna echo the sentiments of others here. I LOVE your blog…I love reading about your adventures before AND after Hunter came into your life (the bf loves looking at Hunter’s pics too hehehe). I, too, hope that you won’t lock this blog because of that one nasty person.

I’m still AMAZED that person took that time to write such hateful things. SERIOUSLY.

Re: From Larae

I know my blog’s kinda saturated with Hunter-related stuff at the moment, and I feel bad for people that just aren’t interested in babies, but…. I can’t help myself! πŸ˜› I blame it on being a new mum… hehe

i don’t see what’s wrong in blogging about yr baby, he’s a big part of your life afterall.. besides, this IS your blog. anyway i just wanted to say that i’m so glad that to see the both of you doing so well, & that honestly? i kinda envy you. (:

Well, you can bet your booty I won’t stop blogging about my baby – I figure it’s my own personal blog, it’s slightly strange someone wants to tell me what I can/can’t write about πŸ˜‰

Your profile pic is soooooooo cute!!

Loved the way you handled that nasty comment.

Hunter’s gorgeous!!!! And I’m also looking forward to having my own Eurasian baby! I’m preggy!!! Hubby’s German. Haven’t gone official on my blog / FB yet, but will soon!

Lots of HUGS. Your prayer for this guy is sooo an example of “pouring hot coals on your enemies’ heads”

Oooo congratulations!! I bet your baby will be soo cute.. plus he/she will speak German which will be tres adorable πŸ˜› All the best for your pregnancy and hope it will be smooth sailing. If you wanna chat about it any time just shout out:)

Thanks Bev!
SO hooked on Hunter’s photos! And you and Chris look like such experienced parents already! Yeah! Can’t wait to talk about all pregnancy stuff!

Hey,
Super glad you were doing well. Of course your son is beautiful.

The alternate to prank phone calling in the modern age I’m afraid……

I hope he is not spending a lot of time doing this to people. For his sake, he probably should just stay off the internet altogether.

Oh come on. Really?! Props on you for being able yo laugh it off. I LOVE hearing about Hunter, as do many of your readers, I’m sure. Don’t let these toxic people steal your sunshine.

So sad to hear there is such people in the world. I love your baby posts and please keep blogging πŸ™‚ you make me turn maternal sometimes hehe. Hunter is gorgeous and he probably be breaking hearts later on!

Oh my what a small world that person must live in.
Please don’t make your posts friends only. I love reading them, have done since you were at Uni in Syd.
Your baby is just beautiful, you can see and always have been able to see the love that shines from your husband’s eyes for you. And you are certainly the most positive person for anyone to have in their life.
One thing though – what have you been doing to your hair. It is stunning in the photo from Valentine’s Day. Update us on that…..

Oh that’s so sweet of you – thank you very much πŸ™‚

The secret to my hair is really simple – I’ve been going to the hairdressers for a wash and blow dry πŸ˜› Otherwise normally it’s a total mess!

re: nasty and untrue comment

I have been reading your blog for quite a while now. It is a very interesting blog. This very nasty comment has spurred me to leave my first comment. I am also a mother to a mixed race child (father Chinese)living in the UK. The poster has obviously got a mental problem and what he/she says is so untrue. Your baby is beautiful!!

Re: nasty and untrue comment

Ohh you should have a blog too, I’d love to read about your adventures. It’s nice to meet another mum of a mixed kid too! πŸ™‚

Eye. Roll. That person has some serious self-esteem issues. I don’t know why she feels like she needs to take it out on you. She’s just jealous of the wonderful environment that you’ve provided for Hunter.

Omg, how rude! It’s good that you are taking it easy! πŸ™‚ As long as YOU, and we know that Hunter is cute ^^, who cares the rest?! πŸ™‚

Good one Bev

Hey hun
Well handled, I would have been so upset but you did a great job and now they just have to go through this public bashing hahaha
Clever girl!
Although I agree Chris is not as handsome as Manu (muhaha) but Hunter is defo going give some serious competition to Arthur tee hee.
And yes, you have the most beautiful heart.
Miss you
:x:x:x

Re: Good one Bev

Chris and Manu are meant to look alike though, hehehe. Looking forward to seeing you guys again and our boys can meet each other!

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Haters, girl. Shake them off. Some people are just so miserable with their own lives that they have to air their issues to other people. You totally force them to read your blog at gunpoint.

Let me tell you, Hunter is really one of the cutest newborns I’ve ever seen and I’m the first one to say when a newborn looks funny lol

i wish they’d focus more on finding happiness in their own lives, but ah well!

Hehehe i do think newborns look quite strange at the start, but I am totally biased with Hunter, I can’t help it πŸ˜›

My kids and I love reading your blog. They were so excited when Hunter was born. Our morning routine is reading the BBC new website and your blog over breakfast nearly every day. We always look forward to new pics of your gorgeous little man. xx

Dear Beverly, i’ve been reading your journal for one and a half year now and i really like it but was too shy to leave some comments (*blush*). It also inspired me to start myself a livejournal as i am now a French expat in Germany and wanted to give news to my relatives and friends through it. First of all, congrats on your cute baby and a lot of happiness for all your family! I feel really happy when i read your journal since i live now in Germany. I don’t have a job yet and reading your journal makes my day πŸ™‚ I felt sad for you when i heard about ur lil ferret πŸ™ I also have a pet, a rabbit named lilo that i adopted when i left France for Germany to feel less lonely and he brings me a lot of happiness everyday and makes the expatriation easier…So i can understand that the loss of Misty was really hard for you and Chris.
And regarding the rude comment you received, i think some people are just jealous of your happiness and just want to have the same and react badly. Don’t let people destroy it and as you proved it with your last post, you just let it go and wish them someday they can find their own happiness.
I really enjoy reading your journal and hope you won’t stop posting because of that πŸ™
Have a good day and take care of your lil family
caroline

Oh wow, how international you are! i’ve never been to Germany but would love to. Chris and I adored travelling through France in Aug last year though πŸ™‚

Give Lilo a cuddle for me πŸ˜›

Hi Beverly, I’ve been following your blog for a while and feel I should finally comment. Big congrats to you and Chris on your new baby. Hunter is simply adorable. I hope you won’t lock your posts after receiving your “really funny comment” as I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts (food! and now baby!). Some people have nothing better to do but troll and post not so nice comments just to stir things up. I’s wonderful to see you still be so lovely about this! x

Stefanie

I admire you for handling it so well. I can’t believe someone can be so terribly mean, what a awful person they must be. I enjoy reading your blog and Hunter is beautiful.

Re: Stefanie

just realised i put my name in the subject! it’s been a long day, brain not working!

Beverly, it’s very good that this evil comment didn’t make u sad or smth. You baby is perfect, I found ur blog randomly and now keep watching ur life. I wish your beautiful baby be healthy!

Geez, some people have too much time on their hands, and not enough brain cells. I’m glad you can see the lighter side of it, I don’t know if I would be as patient! πŸ˜›

More piccies of your gorgeous bubba please!

All I have to say is I love your photographs, Hunter is an adorable baby, and I love reading about your life as it changes and goes through different seasons.

From Larae

Hey Bev, I haven’t been here for ages and and just moved for 2 months in Ho Chi Mihn and decided to post the events here πŸ™‚ I also reminded that here was very active and positive blogger -Beverly and I immediately turned to your page.

I’m really happy that your life as usual so active and interesting and separate kindest conglatulations for borning your Son! It’s such a happiness! I’m reading your posts with great interest and please continue doing it w/o paying attention to such silly comments..

I’m also glad that you’ve found an opportunity and moved to Shanhai. I’ve been there once and I really adored this city. Anyway Asia is my passion ) that is why I’m living in Veitnam now- maybe I’ll go to Singapore I have heard a lot about it and it is worth visiting- but now I’m going to Cambodia)

Best regards from Hi Chi Mihn!

Oh WOW.. what an adventure you must be having! I hope you post more photos, I’d love to see them πŸ™‚ And thank you for your nice words. Shanghai is very fun so we’re happy to be here. If you’re in Singapore do let me know, perhaps we can meet up!

i don’t see what’s wrong in blogging about yr baby, he’s a big part of your life afterall.. besides, this IS your blog. anyway i just wanted to say that i’m so glad that to see the both of you doing so well, & that honestly? i kinda envy you. (:

Gosh!

I love your posts about Hunter!

And I don’t get why he/she keeps coming back if he/she seems to have a problem with you/your blog! Stay away, dude.

Holding onto that sort of hate and anger against someone is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die.

I’m not really into kids, but am surprisingly fascinated by your descriptions of day to day life with a newborn. And also stunned at how many faces Hunter is capable of making.

I thought Hunter looked very adorable! How nasty can the commenter get!

All the more power to you for being so positive!

Care bears, stare!! πŸ™‚

Loved the way you handled that nasty comment.

That horrible comment is making me post my first-time comment on your blog!

Can’t believe that there are such negative people who will spout mean words for the sake of it, am glad you aren’t affected by it what with the lethargy, stay home stir craziness and hormones.

Please continue posting! Having gone through 2 miscarriages, seeing babies like yours, and happiness that your family has just keeps motivating me to trudge on till we have our little own miracle.

Grace

Re: to optimism

I couldn’t begin to empathise with how difficult those times would’ve been, but when you hold your first born it’ll make it all worth it.

Re: to optimism

Thanks Grace πŸ™‚ Fortunately no going crazy lately with rampant hormones.. hehe.

I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriages, and all the very best to you trying again – it’s worth it!

Hey,
Super glad you were doing well.

You’re absolutely right. I’ve been meeting way too many people like this who are so bitter, they go all out to ruin other people’s lives.

So sad to hear there is such people in the world. I love your baby posts and please keep blogging πŸ™‚ you make me turn maternal sometimes hehe. Hunter is gorgeous and he probably be breaking hearts later on!

i love the baby posts! and hunter’s freaking adorable. i really hope you dont have to friends lock your blog because i enjoy reading it so much, but turning off anon commenting would be totally reasonable.

atta girl! *waves pom poms for bevvy*

its really cowardy to hide behind the screen and post annoymous comment like that *rolleyes*

Omg. The person is really hateful and mean.

Pls keep hunter’s pics coming. I love all the baby related posts n his pics. πŸ˜‰

Hi Beverly, I’ve just moved to China and been reading your blog for a while. I admire your comment re: the total loser and how kind hearted you are. Your baby is beautiful and yes you are absolutely right. Smile πŸ™‚

Ooo how nice to meet a fellow expat in China! hope you’re enjoying Xiamen. I just added you, do post more about your adventures here, I’d love to see em πŸ™‚

I’m in Xiamen too! In the industrial area though. I’ll be shuffling between here and Singapore. Could i ass you too, i don’t write though, i just like reading ;).

hello

Hi there, good to meet a fellow expat in Xiamen!! How are you finding Xiamen? I will try to write as often as I can…I do try to motivate myself! lol

Re: hello

I’m not really an expat here.
We have a factory here so i visit sometimes, i’m mostly in SG.
Are you staying in town?
I was enjoying it actually, it is suppose to be the cleanest city in China.
Good food is not that easy to find though, we have to bring in our own steak and salmon.
Things are alot more expensive compared to 10 years ago(when i last came), bread here from Anderson cost more then any of the premium bakeries in SG. They don’t use imported ingredients to make them too so i don’t see why it is so expensive ;p

The secret to my hair is really simple – I’ve been going to the hairdressers for a wash and blow dry πŸ˜› Otherwise normally it’s a total mess!

am not sure what’s funnier…the comment or your icon!

sad creatures…must take an awful lot of energy to be so full of hate all the time, especially when life really IS fabulous! πŸ™‚

Yeah, not a big deal to me.. but i do feel bad for that person who has invested so much energy in following my blog and stewing in so much hate πŸ˜›

re: nasty and untrue comment

Care bears, stare!! πŸ™‚
