I LOVE BURGERS.
If you know me in real life, you’ll know that’s no big secret 😛 I constantly yearn for burgers. There’s just something so comforting and endorphin-enducing about them, don’t you think? Nothing sexier than a big fat juicy burger in your mouth, I reckon. If I wasn’t worried about growing an ass the size of a house, I’d eat burgers every second day.
Fortunately Shanghai has some great burger joints. One of my favourites is Gourmet Cafe – a very nice casual cafe that caters for the expat crowd, so all staff speak English and the menu’s in English too. It’s also located right outside the Ritz Carlton hotel in Jingan, and is very very close to our place 🙂
Their menu is HUGE. It always takes awhile to decide which of the 23619743 combinations of burgers you want. They all sound fabulous! I dont think I’ve ever had a bad burger here. And dont’ get me started on their smoothie menu – they all sound incredible!
A must-have is their garlic fries, which come in a little ceramic pot and a HEAP of fried garlic on top. The smell of the garlic is so strong, mmmm. Only thing is I wish it would come with a little pot of aoli on the side, that would make it perfect.
A great place for a delicious burger & fries & milkshake meal. I’ll be back!
Strawberry Cheesecake smoothie – luscious, creamy, spot-on
Spinach and avocado salad – not exciting, plus it had spinach on the top and
‘filler’ veggies underneath. Cheater!
“Tom Chutney” – prime beef patty with homemade tomato chutney, emmental cheese,
crispy fried onions, roasted garlic mayonnaise – absolutely DIVINE!
Garlic fries – a foodgasm in a bowl.

You just squish it down so it’s flatter, then stuff it in your mouth – hehe

Last time I did, but this time I shared with Chris, it was goooooooood.
I think I had a foodgasm just LOOKING at those fries. Omg. You know how you can look at a fry and just know it’ll be SO GOOD? Golden and crispily fried on the outside… they ALL look like that. And then smothered in what looks like crispy garlic on top. Think you could send some out of the country? 😉
Me tooooo and they really tasted as good as they look. Would be even better with a pot of aioli though!
