I think the blue on is the custom one! The material looks alot nicer π
Heh spot on!

Definitely the one on the left.. It looks HAWT on you, definitely accentuates the curves.. the one on the right is still sweet.. but definitely prefers the one to the left…
Yeah the left one definitely hugs me better since it’s cut exactly to my measurements… that is, assuming I don’t gain weight, heh!

I’m so bad at these steal or splurge things!
I’m guessing the left one is custom made? I do love the colour π
Heh you guessed right!
Bev! I remember loving the way your custom qipao looked and how fab you looked! When you say it was $500 was that USD? Do you remember the RMB price? Wondering if they can make it if I sent measurements and have my friend who’s going to Shanghai in Sept to pick up! It’s so pretty! I bet custom here in Canada would be a lot. Wish I could go back to get myself buy saving money now π
It was around USD$300 I think!! I went to Silk King which is really famous (celebs and politicians go there). It’s worth paying a higher price than going for the el cheapo versions in Shanghai, cos those often turn out crappy :X
Ooh so Canadian $ it will be about $300. I really love the one you had made! How fast do they make them? Were there many fitting sessions? Would it be super risky to call/email my measurements over and get my friend to pick up when he’s there?
It took a week I believe and I had one fitting but it was all perfect so no changes π
Thanks Bev! Having serious thoughts about sending measurements, maybe a tad bigger and then tailoring in for more fitting here. Do they have a gazillion fabrics? lol I am slightly inclined to get the fabric you have! It’s SO beautiful!
They have a lot of prints! But i loved the one I got cos the dark blue and gold is really striking imho π
Thanks Bev! You have awesome taste! If I can’t make it there and if I can get it made I may be a copycat hehe.
u look so fabulous!
Aww thank you! will be wearing the left one for the Tea ceremony for the wedding π
not quite… i think it’s the wearer, not the material or design etc. thats why all models look good in EVERYTHING right? haha…
hahah yeah that’s very true!
I’m so bad at these steal or splurge things!

hahah yeah that’s very true!
The quality of the qipao and the design of the flowers? π
Yeah that makes a big diff, esp in real life!
they’re so beautiful!!! makes me want to go to china and buy 10… but then where would i wear them??
and jeez you have an amazing figure!! don’t even start on a diet for the wedding?!!!
Aww thanks hon, it’s too hard to lose weight in time for the wedding anyways, I should’ve started earlier π
Heh you can wear qipaos to work or on weekends when you’re out! that’s what i’m doing π
I can tell too, the dark one has much nicer, thicker material, lining and hem.
The other one is “adjustable” with the laces.
Good eye! The blue is lined and is made with 100% silk, the light green one is random material π
Both look great on you. The tailored (dark blue, previous post) one fits better and the fabric looks more luxurious.
True! In real life when you touch the fabric, you can tell π
Where did you get it made?
I’m going to Shanghai for a wedding in Sept, and I would love to get a qipao custom made there! Where did you get yours done?
Re: Where did you get it made?
Silk King on Nanjing road, they’re exellent
The quality of the qipao and the design of the flowers? π
Yeah that makes a big diff, esp in real life!
Hrmm didn’t you already tell us your blue qipao was custom made? The blue > the other anyhow.
Heh yes, most didn’t notice though, you’re just sharp!

Both qipaos looks really good. The first one (dark blue) has beautiful embroidery and a good cut. It’ll be great with 3 inch heels.
The second is in a gorgeous turquoise colour and I love the little bolero – it’s so unique.
I really like how the blue one was made to my exact measurements, it makes a big difference when I move/walk!
Left one looks better to me but the styles are clearly different so I don’t think it’s fair to compare.
Heh you’re good, it’s the blue one on the left that’s the custom made one!

I like the first one (left) because the pattern is more traditional.
Yeah it’s true, it’s a lot more timeless..
The blue one looks better..
Heh, you have a good eye!
in terms of fit, they both fit you really well as if they were custom made for you. but definitely the blue one looks MUCH better
Thanks! It’s good to hear, because I’ll be wearing the blue one during the wedding tea ceremony π

i would have guessed that #2 was your custom one because it’s so much more spunky than the other. it seems more your style.
but both are divine.
#2 was off the rack and way cheaper though I think it’s pretty hard to tell!

i’m totally in touch with my asian side now, I’m gonna buy more to wear to work. Heh!
I like the first one (left) because the pattern is more traditional.
Yeah it’s true, it’s a lot more timeless..
I think you can totally tell that the blue Qipao is more expensive, but you can’t tell that it’s by $450 more! :X
Yeah… a bit scary it’s 10x the price, eek!
The blue one looks better..
Heh, you have a good eye!

i dont know much abt clothes, but i think the dark blue looks like a better fit, so that’s probably the tailored one. π
Man you’re good, you’re right!
I’m huge fan of qipaos :X
Both are nice and unique in their own ways π
the off-the rack qipao, is it one piece? looks more casual still nice!!
Same! I like how easy they are to wear too, and really comfy. Both are one pieces π
π i hoping more girls start loving them.. π indians have their saris and malays have their kebayas.. its time we wore our qipaos and love them just as much !!
now i have quite a number of them but just dunno where to wear them to!! :X usually only at chinese new year or a random christmas party.
I didn’t need to guess, cause you were wearing the dark blue one for your pre-wedding pictures, and you already told us in your pre-wed pics entry that you were wearing a custom-made qipao π
Heh it’s cos you’re sharp and have a good memory π
i love qipaos! π the first one is very classic! (and classy) the second very quirky and cute!! i love shanghai. they have such amazing selection of qipao both, made to measure and off the rack!!
I know, you could really go nuts spending tons of dozens of qipaos! I want more now too π
i keep telling myself its ok to splurge on them cos they are classics! we can wear till we’re old!!
i like the collar of the one on the right..the qipao on the left is the traditional one which is timeless!
You’re right! I like how i can wear the blue qipao forever.. um… assuming i don’t gain weight π
Lovely hun π
I personally prefer the blue one – looks more classy and traditional and somewhat younger. The lighter blue one is unique and a diferent twist to he qipao but I find the patterns more ‘oldish’.
yeah the blue is the winner for the wedding! the other one i’ll just wear to work π
i love the second one… it’s very unique!
I loove the colours, cant’ believe it was only $50. Score π
The blue one is soooo beautiful!!!! That must have been custom made but the second one is v cheery… Love both, you got the figure to carry them off dear!
Ya spot on! I do like both heaps.. and hee thank you π
The second one is OTR because you wrote about wearing the first one for the wedding photo shoot π
Teehee you have a good memory, I was wondering who would be the first to notice and point that out!
Yay! π
You look great in both! Haha, I actually favor the off-the-rack one more. π
Hehe yeah, the colours on those are so spring, it glimmers in real life, sooo pretty
Hmmm first one is OTR, 2nd one is tailored. Am I right?
Other way around, hee!
i’m going to guess that the 2nd is off the rack π
Ya you’re right! It fits pretty much as well as the custom one, and was 1/10 the price. Grrrr!
I can’t tell the difference, but I am madly in love with the second one. It’s so unique and gorgeous and looks beautiful on your body since it’s knee-length and makes you look longer. (And you have a beautiful collarbone.)
Yeah I do love the non-qipao-ness of it, makes it a lil more hip! Ohhh I can’t stand my collarbone sticking out, I always try to suck it in for photos, heh!
I’m guessing the light blue one = custom made one?
It looks like it fits u better (brings out the curve). π
The blue one on the left is the custom one π But I like both!
you have an easy size to shop for! i love the OTR though..
ONly sometimes! LIke jeans NEVER fit me cos I have really wide hips compared to my waist, boooo
I love the first one as its more elegant and the embroidery is exquisite. the 2nd one seems more causal and not very qipao-looking.
That’s true! The 2nd one is like a hybrid qipao.. it’s nice for teh office π
dark blue’s $500??
Heh spot on!
yayyyy~ *happy dance* hahahaha!!
i think the quality’s better with the $500 qipao right?

Definitely the one on the left.. It looks HAWT on you, definitely accentuates the curves.. the one on the right is still sweet.. but definitely prefers the one to the left…
Yeah the left one definitely hugs me better since it’s cut exactly to my measurements… that is, assuming I don’t gain weight, heh!

Aww thank you! will be wearing the left one for the Tea ceremony for the wedding π
not quite… i think it’s the wearer, not the material or design etc. thats why all models look good in EVERYTHING right? haha…

they’re so beautiful!!! makes me want to go to china and buy 10… but then where would i wear them??
and jeez you have an amazing figure!! don’t even start on a diet for the wedding?!!!

I love the first one as its more elegant and the embroidery is exquisite. the 2nd one seems more causal and not very qipao-looking.
That’s true! The 2nd one is like a hybrid qipao.. it’s nice for teh office π
dark blue’s $500??
Heh spot on!
yayyyy~ *happy dance* hahahaha!!
i think the quality’s better with the $500 qipao right?
i would have guessed that #2 was your custom one because it’s so much more spunky than the other. it seems more your style.
but both are divine.
#2 was off the rack and way cheaper though I think it’s pretty hard to tell!
Both looks GREAT on you!
i’m totally in touch with my asian side now, I’m gonna buy more to wear to work. Heh!
I think you can totally tell that the blue Qipao is more expensive, but you can’t tell that it’s by $450 more! :X
Yeah… a bit scary it’s 10x the price, eek!
i dont know much abt clothes, but i think the dark blue looks like a better fit, so that’s probably the tailored one.
