LOL! Greg Matthews is an ex-Australian test cricketer (retired). He’s quite an eccentric character…don’t know if you found him as such.

Hey is good you like Sushi-Ya…I haven’t been there in ages…

Yes he was a lil crazy πŸ˜› Gave me his number so I could “call him anytime”, lol

I LOVE sushiya, thanks for the rec! I owe ya one

Lee’s Malaysian

Hi Bev,

Where is this restaurant located? I work near Wynyard too & love wonton noodles! πŸ™‚ One of the worse I had was at UNSW near Matthews – yuck! Once I found a string of hair in it and when I complained, they didn’t seem very surprised either! hahaha…………

There is a little Singaporean restaurant on Clarence St. – their prawn laksa is one of the best in Sydney – very thick with authentic laksa paste – almost like the ones I had in Singapore!! πŸ™‚

Re: Lee’s Malaysian

It’s at the the MET centre or MLC centre.. I always get the 2 mixed up! Basically the one that’s near the little park area, near the bridge and along George St.

It’s at the food court, and their noodle are sooooo good :)~ plus if you go down the escalators, that’s where they’re having that special truffle chocolate sale where I got my chocs from! It’s a temporary stand just at the escalators.

I thik I know the restuarant you’re talking about.. near Chanel/LV right?? I LOVE their wat ton hor!!

Re: Lee’s Malaysian

That’s Met centre on George St πŸ™‚ 2 minutes away from where I work so gotta try it out on Monday with my work mates! I usually have lunch at Australian Square but none of their Asian noodles interested me… MLC is the tall around building where Gucci, Cartier, Ferragamo are hehe.. Their foodcourt is quite nice too!

Stop tempting me with chocolates Bev!! There is this new (well not exactly new) chocolatier in The Strand, where Jurlique used to be – it’s called HAIGH’S & proudly Australian-owned! It’s sorta like a most expensive version of Darrel Lea but the quality & variety is excellent!

The one near Chanel is actually a Malaysian place – I am a regular there and my favourite has got to be their Har Mee (Specials for Tues, Sat & Sun ONLY and they usually run out in the late afternoon so better be quick). I also looove their Kapitan Chicken with rice – I prefer that to the satays (which are nothing like the ones you get in Singapore)

This is the place I was talking about – I really recommend their laksa!! :)http://www.eatability.com.au/au/sydney/prima_taste.htm

Re: Lee’s Malaysian

The Met centre is 2 mins from me too.. πŸ™‚ Their laksa also seem popular but I’ve only had the wonton noodles.

I gotta try out the chocolatier next time I’m at The Strand! Yayyy thanks for the rec πŸ™‚

I love the Malaysian place’s wat ton hor… so so good. Gotta try their harmee, might go next weekend! What’s kapital chicken?

OMG the SG place is like 2 mins walk from my work. What else besides their laksa’s good? :)~

Re: Lee’s Malaysian

Hehe we must work pretty close to each other then! πŸ˜›

Kapitan Chicken is kinda like yellow curry chicken – it’s hard to describe but if you like currys in general, you’ll definately love this! I usually have this for dinner when I’m really, really hungry as the serving is HUGE. I haven’t tried wat ton hor before – is it a noodle soup? I prefer fried noodles like fried quey tiao & hokkien noodles even though it tastes nothing like the ones in Singapore. My bf (who’s SG) always complains but I find regardles of it being authentic Singaporean food or not – as long as it taste good – which it does, I don’t care!! Hehehee.. I’m a sucker for inexpensive SG/Malaysian cuisine, second to fabulous Japanese food!

That SG place (it’s no longer called Prima Taste) – I’ve only tried their laksa unfortunately – I promise myself I’ll try something else the next time I go back but always ended up getting laksa.. they’re just TOO GOOD! Next on my list is Hainanese Chicken rice but I don’t think it’d be that good coz all the ones I’ve had in Sydney come with *plain rice* rather than the actual *chicken rice*. Let me know if you happen to try other dishes in the restaurant!

Re: Lee’s Malaysian

Actually they might call the wat ton hor “seafood hor fun”… I like it πŸ˜€ Have you been to To’s in North Sydney? the food there’s great!

Will get that laksa on mon morning..hhee

Re: Lee’s Malaysian

No I haven’t been to To’s – I live in the city and most of the time I am too lazy to drive to the suburbs when everything I need os practically within walking distance πŸ˜›

I’d like to venture into the North and West some time though – you seem to know a lot of good SG/Malay/Jap restaurants up North, I was wondering if you could make up a list of your fav. restaurants/places to eat and I’ll do the same too (my area of expertise is mainly city and Eastern suburbs-bound hehe) and we could swap the list! NOW that would be FUN!

Re: Lee’s Malaysian

To’s is in North Sydney, so technically not too far!

But the 2 superb SG restaurants are at Pennant Hills – Alice’s and Straits Gourmet Cuisine.. those 2 are by FAR the best πŸ™‚

Re: Lee’s Malaysian

Oh and for Jap, def Artarmon, the 2 Jap restaurants side-by-side next to the train station!

food porn

ahahaha !

great photos as always, hey you always post in the morning, right before I have breakfast lady :T
