Ended up watching The Breakup with Vince Vaughan and Jennifer Aniston. I didn’t like it at all! The movie made me cry (and I never cry in movies) and had a crappy ending. Booo πŸ™

We did have fun eating at Chatswood though, which cheered me up πŸ˜› Was walking past the Westfield and looked inside and there was Beard Papa! I think they recently opened there as I hadn’t seem them there before? They’re like Krispy Kreme, they only sell custard puffs and BOY THEY ARE GOOD! I’m normally not a fan of cream/custard puffs, but really loved these. The puff was all flaky and warm, and the custard (injected into the puff when you make your order) was cool and creamy. Really lovely :)~ But at $2.50 each?! Yikes!

About the puffs..

Delicious fresh custard puff

Dinner was a quick one as we had to quickly stuff it in before Church. We were keen on Ramen-kan, which is close by and serves great, cheap Japanese food (approx $10pp). I settled on Fried chicken with cold ramen, served with egg mayonnaise & chilli jam – which is the dish of choice every time I go to Ramen-kan.. because it’s just so good! The chicken’s always juicy and tender and the noodles are cooked just-so. The egg mayo and chilli jam make the perfect accompaniment, and it’s just a really lovely filling meal that doesn’t make you feel all stuffed and gross afterwards.

Chris opted for the Grilled Salmon on rice – simple but delicious. 4 hearty slices of tender grilled salmon, served on a bed of Japanese rice and accompanied with Japanese salad and a hot Miso soup. So nice :)~

They cream puffs look yummy-I wish they sold that in theaters-i’d so buy one or maybe more…ugh the Breakup was so disappointing-not so, but the ending was not good at all…it was like “wah, that’s it?” I thought Vince Vaughn was funny though, but not as funny as he could be…

the movie’s called The Breakup…hello?! πŸ˜› the japanese ramen looks faaaahhhhhbulous btw…you’ve got me craving some now!!

hahaha you know what they say about great minds πŸ˜‰ you’re just in denial my dear…in most other people’s worlds, break-ups *do* happen…!

Noooo *claps hands over ears * at least not at the movies! Was sooo depressed afterwards, like *I* was broken up with, haha. Chris had to go console me afterwards πŸ˜›

oh yes, i walked past beard papa at chatswood before, was tempted to buy some to try.. i will get some next time coz i do have a sweet tooth πŸ˜€

aww misty and star sleeping together.. soo cute!

They’re the nicest cream puffs I’ve tried.. all flaky on the outside and cool and creamy on the inside, YUM!! They rank up there with Krispy Kremes :)~

the fried chicken w/ noodles looks good!! and the salmon too!

i’m not a big fan of beard papa’s cream puff’s though. i found it too sweet. ;(

Not sure I’d eat a cream puff for breakfast ! hahah But they sure look good :)~

I love the last picture of your ferrets, they’re adorable !

I have to laugh at the Beard Papa sign. It says “Good for Your Breakfast” because of the fresh milk and eggs…But I wonder how many calories and grams of fat, not to mention sugar, is in it! πŸ™‚ Hello, sugary breakfast! πŸ™‚ He he ….

Yeah, talk about weird random marketing, haha!!
I wouldn’t say it’s a good breakfast, but maybe a great snack πŸ˜‰

cream puffs are a hit-or-miss based on the cream. i used to hate them but thats cuz the place i first tasted them made a dull, flavorless cream. but then i bought a couple in the city and i swear i thought the filling was ice cream. loved it!! haha

glad to see that the little ones are getting along πŸ™‚

oh, and i saw The Breakup yesterday too. i can’t believe this movie was number one in the US when it opened. some funny scenes but a pointless movie.

It’s not good if it’s not fresh, that’s why I love these so much.

Wow, The Breakup was #1??! Maybe just because of all the media stories around Jennifer Aniston/Brad Pitt/Vince Vaughan etc…. it was a nice movie but I didn’t like the ending :X

thanks for posting abt the profiterole place!!
i’ve been wanting to know where it exactly was in chatswood!!
i loooove profiteroles. mmmm. :9
i heard that in America people line up to buy those!

THey’re in the USA and other countries I believe, but only in a few places.. hopefully they take off and open up more stores

Your ferrets are the cutest!!! πŸ™‚
Beard Papa did really well here at first but now not so popular anymore. Could be because it’s rather sweet?

I think custard puffs aren’t too popular amongst Asians? generally we prefer savory over sweet/creamy I think. It’s quite true, I prefer some Mamee noodles over the custard puffs, even though they were yum!

I love how Beard Papa’s sign says that their creampuffs are great for breakfast LOL Personally, I’m a Choux Factory (BP’s rival) kinda girl. $2.50 though? That’s pricey in any currency. CF is like $1.80 or so USD (which isn’t much better really) around these parts.

Awww, look at the babies! *in love*

Yeah, I dunno about creampuffs for breakfast, lol?! especially since they aren’t filling.. and yes, a bit on the $$ side – I guess it’s Japanese!
