Well hello there DAY 1 of my Beauty
I wake up pretty cheerful, but unsure if I’ll nail Day 1, or if I’ll crumble into a starving mess and try to eat my own legs. I’ve never dieted or detoxed in my entire life, and the whole concept of “eat less” is foreign to me. I also don’t know anyone with a very robust appetite to have done it, so I have no frame of reference as to how I’ll be able to handle this! It’s scary, but the juices are so pretty, so I’m eager to kick it all off.
WAKEUP: Fresh lemon squeezed into warm water + supplements
I squeeze half-a-lemon into my small glass and it’s pretty sour but doesn’t bug me. I’m supposed to drink half, take my supplements, then drink the other half. Pretty easy. The Supplements are a killer – there are 7 of them and I don’t take vitamins daily, so I’m not used to swallowing this stuff. Urk. I feel pretty waterlogged after it because I drank tons of plain water to wash them all down.
(8AM) JUICE #1: Carrots, Cucumber, Pineapple
This juice is delicious. In fact, if I’m out and want to buy a fresh fruit juice, I’ll totally be asking for this combination. It’s so refreshing when chilled! Colosan Powder added to half of my juice. Downed it in two gulps. Just did a poo. Guess that Colosan Powder stuff is effective!
(10AM) JUICE #2: Celery, Cucumber, Kale, Mint, Romaine Lettuce
Greeny green green juice GAH. Even Carter looked pretty unimpressed. I gave him a sip, though, and he was all “Mmm… yummy!” and errr.. I feel like a bit of a nutter admitting this, but I like this after Juice #1 (which was really sweet). It’s very plain, very green, and zero sweetness – which my body appreciated. I’m also starting to get hungry now (ARGHH!!!) so I guess my body lapped this all up.
(12PM) JUICE #3: Apple, Beetroot, Celery, Ginger, Red Cabbage
Pooped again. Heaps!! I don’t eat beetroot and I certainly don’t drink beetroot juices, but I realise now I may like the stuff. This juice is right up my alley because it’s not overly sweet, and it’s just overall pretty nice. Carter really liked it too and I had to fight him for it. Don’t worry, I showed him who’s boss. NEVER get in between me and my food!! (or, at least, what constitutes as food during this detox….)
(3PM) Juice #4: Honey, Lemon, Cayenne pepper
Oh man. Pooping every hour now. A bit TMI but there you go! Not good timing ‘cos I was out of the house, so I had to keep running to the bathroom. Beauty Cleanse called me (they are amazing with their customer support – literally) to ask how I was doing, and if I’d “gone to the toilet yet”. This one is a really mild juice, more like a honey lemon tea. Except the cayenne pepper addition is rather odd! The juices pack well in my little cooler bag, which I stuff with some mini ice packs.
(6PM) Juice #5: Apple, Celery, Cucumber, Ginger, Kale
Another green juice, but less green-y than the previous one. The apples in it make it quite palatable and actually pretty pleasant. I drink this as I’m feeding my kids their dinner.. and I haven’t wanted to whack off my firstborn child to steal his dinner, so I guess that’s a good sign. Still pooping every hour like my life depended on it. It’s true, I really AM full of crap.
(9PM) Juice #5: Cashew Nut Milk
I’m tucked up in my pajamas and all ready for bed now. Everyone I know raves on about this so I’m super excited!! I’m imagining a creamy thickshake with cashew nut flavour, mmmm. So I’m surprised when it’s actually quite watery. Well, like milk. There’s a very subtle nutty taste, which is quite pleasant. After a whole day of veg/fruit-based juices, this is welcome relief. The cashew nut, cinnamon and honey mix tastes as good as it sounds, and is a lovely night cap.
So that ends Day 1.
I haven’t had any cravings or raided my fridge (which is chock-a-block full of food, snacks, desserts, etc etc). This is despite preparing and feeding my kids breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’m actually pretty smug about this, because I don’t consider myself to have very good self-control 😉
It’s very hard to describe the hunger I’m feeling. It’s a non-hungry hunger.
My belly is weighed down by all the juice and the nutrients it contains, so my belly and body isn’t hungry – at all.
My mind, however, is a different matter. It knows my routine, it knows when to expect food, it knows when to expect junk food, it knows when to expect desserts. So when I’m bored or in a particular situation of my regular daily routine, my mind goes “oooh hang on, is it time to eat XXX right now?” and then I want to, yet I don’t particularly feel hungry.
So, for now, my fridge’s delicious contents remains untouched by me.
But it’s only Day One. Let’s see how Day Two pans out for me…
Thanks for your honest review of the cleanse! I just got the cleanse and will start this weekend (used your discount code!). Just wondering you continued using the Colosan powder for Days 2 & 3? Did you go to the toilet as frequently? And don’t mind me asking but how was your stools like? Like diarrhea sort?
Yay for you! And yup, I used the colosan powder daily, and poop was most on the first day. It’s soft/liquid poo but you don’t have a stinging bum afterwards like diarrhea gives you 😛
you should start a bottled fresh juice company in singapore ! 🙂
Except I need to be the epitome and shining example of fitness and health first, I reckon 😛
