Awwww! Hehe. I wonder how ferrets and dogs mix

I’m glad to hear Star is doing well, I hope she makes a full recovery soon! I can’t imagine how drained you must be <3333333
Misty acts very similarly to my cat- she will come to see what’s going on if she hears anything weird and if you’re playing with the dog or the other cat she will push them out of the way so that you can pat her instead. She also sits on the magazine / newspaper while you’re trying to read because she’s obviously more important hehe.
Also, Whiskey & Green Tea sounds SCARY! 😛

Haha animals are funny sometimes.. love how your kitty sits on your stuff when you’re reading it, lol 😉

*hugs* I’m worried about your little fuzzy one as well. I really hope she pulls through, you’re doing an amazing job taking care of her 🙂

She just took 10ml of her fluid just then, without struggling or fussing. So proud of her!!
No food at all though 🙁

I don’t know much anything about animals but if that’s gastritis, I sure haven’t seen it knock around a human being that badly! Maybe because ferrets are little. Anyhow when you have a sick human baby it will be much the same I’m afraid, force feeding babies in little syringes when they have gastroenteritis. I don’t have a human baby myself but I’ve worked in paediatrics for ONE NIGHT and 80% of what I saw was gastroenteritis. The senior doctor I worked with was a mother herself, and she said when her own baby had it, she had to stay up force feeing through syringes also. Tiring indeed, and sounds heartbreaking, but I think as doctors we see a little beyond that …

It’s scary huh… yeah apparently with ferrets when they get an ulcer, it stops them from eating or drinking 🙁 She’s on eletrolytes and honey mixed in water and will take a bit of ferretone (high cal supplement) but that’s it 🙁
How long does it take for babies to get well? For ferrets it’s 2-4 weeks of this before they even show signs of getting better… sigh…
posted on May 1, 2009 at 2:21 pm
I don’t know, as I train in adult medicine, but I don’t think it will take 2-4 weeks in babies. It probably only takes 2-4 days for generally healthy adults to get over gastroenteritis.

You’ve done amazingly looking after her. Star really is a tough little mite, she’ll come good 🙂 And it will be good when Chris is back home.
Awww, whisky and green tea…I would totally try that…maybe I should make some up! There’s a song by Supergrass of the same name too 😀

It’s good that Star is doing better, hopefully she’ll make a full recovery soon.
Whiskey and green tea have been around for years in Singapore! I’m not a fan of it though. I like green tea but can’t stand whiskey.

Hey i didn’t know that! Then again, i’ve never really been clubbing in SG.. I like the mixture, it’s yummy :)~ But then again, i like whiskey

You’ve been doing a fab job nursing Star. Looking after Star round the clock and working full time, must be really exhausting for you. I hope and pray Star makes a full recovery soon!

The bigger does we have do not like Colossus cause he’s so needy and wants all my attention. But once when Colossus was just a lil pup he fell from the bed onto the hardwood floor. He didn’t seem right so we rushed him to the emergency vet to get checked out. Turns out he sprained his neck or back (we couldn’t tell what part really hurt) and gave himself a mild concussion. We came home that night and usually all the dogs will greet us and then go away. Not this time, all the big dogs stayed around to see if Colossus was ok. They wouldn’t leave his side. He’s ok (thankfully) now and that was 3 years ago but it’s always heart warming to see animals be so warming. 🙂 Hope Star gets better soon and you get some rest!
posted on May 2, 2009 at 4:30 am
Aww that is so sweet. It’s nice how animals react sometimes, and how they surprise you. Colossus is such an awesome name btw.

and using some of yours too 🙂
im so glad shes hanging there… and even sounds a bit better

Awww…I know it’s tiring but you have to keep up with the feeding. After all, you are her *mum*. *^^*
BTW…I don’t know if this helps any but I found some info online regarding feeding ferrets when they are ill –
The baby food [green beans] is something I feed my bunnies when they’re sick. They really love it. Of course, check with your vet first.
Still praying for a good outcome! Hang in there!
posted on May 2, 2009 at 12:16 am
I forgot one more thing. If you wrap her like a sushi roll in a blanket or towel and stick the syringe in the side of her mouth, it should be easier to feed her. *^^*
posted on May 2, 2009 at 5:11 am
I mixed up that sorta food, and also ferretone (they normally LOVES the stuff) but she wont take it by herself 🙁 I think she just has no appetite or her stomach ulcer hurts too much to eat!
