Hi Bev, I never met you but I think I am a similar size to you although I’m a bit heavier.. I”m the same height and have the same size feet (yes I read your journal too much – this is supercamel by the way)..

and I agree with you about the size thing. It doesn’t matter if you go to an expensive boutique or a cheap chain store like Target/Kmart.. it doesn’t matter if you buy it on sale or not, everything is always a freakin’ size 14!!

and YES the stats DO say that MOST australian women are a size 14.. my mum is practically exactly 163cm and 72kg as someone mentioned.. and a size 14…

BUT! Do the retailers take into account that MOST size 14 women do not like shopping for clothes as much as sized 8-10 women? Nooooo they are too $##@#$# brain dead!!

Man! If I was size 14 I’d be soooo happy.. everything nice on sale is ALWAYS in a size 14 (sometimes 12 or 16) but NEVEr in 6/8/10!!

Same with shoes.. they used to start at 5, and now they start at 6. and even when they start at 5, it feels more like a 6.

i used to wear 7.5.. and I KNOW my feet haven’t shrunk.. and now wear 5.5-6.

it sux. πŸ™

Hi Liv!

Haha I so agree.. I don’t know why it stops at a sz10, it’s like I’m *nearly* there but not quite – so maddening. Plus, I reckon it’s the thinner girls that tend to be more, erm, vain.. so they’re the ones that will buy more clothes! πŸ˜‰

hi, I think the Chatswood Chase DJs or is it Myers? Whatever it is in the Chase, has Cake Beauty there! So you can go check them out and sniff them all πŸ™‚ Some of them smell really yummy!

milli (bingbing from MUA) coz yes, I was feeling nosy.

I read a couple of months back that the average Australian woman is 163cm and 72 kilos, which would definately be a 14 in my mind. Most of the women i know are aorund 12, some are bigger though, with only the occaisional 8.

The only person I know who’s a 6 is only 5 foot tall heh

What? Are those AU stats accurate? Actually.. come to think of it, I reckon the young women tend to be heaps slimmer than the middle-aged to older ones. I think if they took the average of Aussie *teens* i’tll be about an 8!

163cm is only 5’4! 4 inches can’t make someone a good 30kgs heavier! right?

Though I think I read about it somewhere too. The thing with averages is that it’s the average of the combined height/weight of a whole bunch of people, so chances are, not many of them are actually that height/weight! They are probably most likely to be above/below it…

SO TRUE. Also they don’t take into account bone density.. for example my height/weight classifes me as “severely underweight” but that’s ridiculous as I don’t look underweight at all, let alone *severely*.. haha. I have very very thin and light bones, and that’s the reason!

errr, I just placed an order for that bag. :X

I AM SO THRILLED THOUGH. I will be the envy of all my colleagues because they won’t be able to find this bag anywhere and they are all fashionista bag collectors. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

*lol*!!!
Well the bag IS pretty.. and I *think* I’ve seen it once in real life – it’s a really nice smooth leather πŸ™‚ Did you get the matching wallet? Man, now I really really want it.

I’m afraid I did…I couldn’t justify spending so much on shipping if I didn’t at least buy two things. and besides, they match!!!

Hee! Someone after my own heart πŸ˜‰ I’m going to try and hunt the bag/wallet down in real life and see what it’s like.. Actually, will you tell me all about it when you get it? πŸ™‚ Especially interested in texture, softness, etc!

very bad news πŸ™
I got an email this morning telling me it wouldn’t be in stock until mid-november and did I want to wait? I decided to cancel the order because, as my mom pointed out, it’s a PU bag and while it may be gorgeous, it’s still PU. HOWEVER, now I’ve got this insatiable urge to buy an Australian handbag…

Ohhhhh that sucks! I can’t get it either I guess πŸ™ Oh well, guess it means I’ll save $$…

Try Spencer and Rutherford, they rock!

omg, you should come here to shop. There’s this store called Marshall’s they sell branded name stuff for a really cheap price. I get get 3 pairs of Tommy / cK underwear for like $7. After I came home from the states, I didn’t shop at all in Sydney, coz it’s no comparison to what I can get here.

I’ve heard of Century 21.. I think we have similar sort of stores in AU but not as cool I reckon, and the quality of those stores here is crap :X I wish we had Century 21 and Delia*s here!

actually I think 5% of Australian women are size 8 or under, most of them are actually 12-14… Just take a look at Australian Idol! πŸ˜€

And I love Olga Berg bags! *swoons* I have a beautiful vintage pink satin bag with black lace overlay, I love it like a baby πŸ˜€

And and and… Max Brenner *drools* Do they have cool chocolate things for summer though?

And I like the earrings too!! Are you going to get them? I know Fabienne is pretty pricey… (for me anyway, only because I have no job or income)

And that’s enough commenting on my behalf! :ΓΎ

5%?! I dunno.. most people I know are a sz6 or sz8. What do you mean about AU Idol – the women are all big or small? I don’t really watch it so am a bit clueless πŸ˜›

Where can I see Olga Berg in real life? I love Aussie designers.. Spencer & Rutherford and Alannah Hill are awesome too πŸ™‚

Max Brenner has chilled choc drinks and snacks, yeah.. it’s YUUM.

yeah, the girls on aus idol are all size 12+ and they’re in their teens/early 20’s. And in the auditions too, when they auditioned over 100,000 people and not many of them were size 8 or less. And I only know a few girls that are 6 or 8 as well!

There’s a reason why the diet industry does so well in Australia!! πŸ˜€

And I didn’t know Olga Berg is a person *lol* I thought it was just a name! Ah well, shows how much I know. I know there’s an Olga Berg factory outlet in Melb (and they’re on sale – up to 70% off til nov 27th! GASPS!), so maybe Olga Berg is from melb? I really don’t know, sorry! πŸ˜€

And I’m very happy Max Brenner has chilled stuff, yay! That means I don’t have to keep away during summer! YAY!

Most people would have bought the most common size I would have thought, hence the large number of uncommon leftover sizes.
That’s just a guess though.

That’s what I’d have thought too.. but it’s almost *always* the case, not for sale stock or old stock. I think they just don’t stock smaller sizes where I live or something :X

That’s a shame :\ Alot of Australian women are sized 14+, but they are often older women so perhaps that’s the reason why you know more people who wear smaller sizes and why more larger sizes are stocked.
I like the earrings that are third from the bottom btw πŸ™‚

I dunno about the most women are 14+.. ‘cos the underwear I go for is the, erm, more cutesy/young type and most teens/young women I see are so thin! I dunno what’s going on there..

I like all the stuff in the pics, but just gotta figure out what I like MOST so I don’t buy it all πŸ˜›

Oh, I thought you were taking about clothes in general. So in that case who knows whats going on.
Hehehe, I have to be careful when I’m around earrings or else I’ll end up with way more than I know what to do with.

Oh sorry I don’t know if Olga Berg is a person.. I mean it’s the name of the company, wanted to see the bags in real life. I wish I lived in Melb, they have all the cool sales πŸ™

yeah, the girls on aus idol are all size 12+ and they’re in their teens/early 20’s.

YAY!

5%?! I dunno.. most people I know are a sz6 or sz8. What do you mean about AU Idol – the women are all big or small? I don’t really watch it so am a bit clueless πŸ˜›

Where can I see Olga Berg in real life? I love Aussie designers.. Spencer & Rutherford and Alannah Hill are awesome too πŸ™‚

Max Brenner has chilled choc drinks and snacks, yeah.. it’s YUUM.
