When I want bejewelled
But when it comes to ballet flats and sheer variety of styles, I like Melissa. Downside? They don’t come cheap 🙁 Especially considering they’re not made of leather or some other expensive material!
They have a phenomenal range of styles and colours, and their jellies are all ultra comfy. I was actually late on the Melissa bandwagon – I’d seen a few gfs rave on about it, but couldn’t imagine how jelly shoes could be comfy. But once I tried them on, I was sold. I love how they’re comfortable, don’t give me blisters, and can be chucked under the tap to wash them clean. Very practical mummy-shoes 😉
These are my Melissas!
The pair on the left were so cheerily coloured I couldn’t resist. Plus I got them at a very good discount from an online boutique. They slip on easily and are very breathable. I also find the duo-colour super cute.
The middle pair are their famous swarovski crystal ones, that cost a small fortune (eek). Again, I got them during a sale and so justified it.. in particular because I don’t have black shoes (can these be counted as black shoes, if they’re covered in sparkly gems?). These are SUPERBLING. They’re so shiny I get a bit distracted when I walk in them, haha. They are not as comfy as the other Melissa sandals (since they’re a ballet flat and so less flexible), but still don’t give me blisters, so I like them. They match everything.
The pair on the right were 50% off at the On Peddar boutique, so I snapped them up. I wear them when I’m traipsing around outside as theye so easy to slip on and just as easy to wash clean and dry.
And in the pic above, the pair on the left are these ridiculously cute Melissa ballet flats in minty green. And, they’re glittery!!! They are very very comfy and I don’t feel too underdressed in them when I’m running around the city.
And see the pair on the right? They’re fake Melissas!! Or rather, they’re from a different brand that modeled the design after Melissa ballet flats. Normally, I stay well away from rubbery shoes, especially ballet flats. But these ones are very comfortable and zero chafing. They’re so light, so airy (no way will your feet sweat in these babies) and so pretty. And you know what? They cost less than 25% of Melissa shoes. SCORE. I’ll admit that if I look closely, or compare with my Melissa shoes, the quality difference is obvious. But at their price, I don’t mind if they wear out after awhile, I’ll just get a new pair!
would you mind sharing the site you got the duo-colored pair of melissa? i love them!
From ASOS 🙂
OOOhh. i always buy the clothes and bags, but i never checked out their shoes before…….. feeling *duhz* cos i just checked out a bunch of stuff last week!
Thanks for the tip! Hopefully they still have it.
Wouldn’t you know – a couple of days after your post another gf just raved about them! She bought them inHK pretty well priced. Imthinking of trying a pair agsin – What size do you wear?
They ARE good! I’m a 36 though I wish they would sell 35.5 cos that would be perfect.
They stock at some Mothercare stores and at their boutique in the basement of Wheelock!
Hey, I saw that pair of glittery Melissa in black and silver at Centrepoint’s Mothercare, going for $120. Just in case you need another pair to add on to your collection! 😉
Oo thanks Iris, I’ll check it out next time I’m there!
I’ll be heading back to Sg soon! Whereabouts do you get the holster and melissa? I’ve got flat feet and bunions and so far buying online has been disastrous without trying shoes on.
Holsters are from Nottoobig shop at the Forum mall. Melissas are in the basement of Wheelock Place.
I have my eye on the Campanas! I already own a pair of Melissa’s and I love them 🙂 They were put to the test in Shanghai’s rain and heat!
They really are comfy! And yeah, you’re right, Melissas are really practical in Shanghai, no thanks to all the dirt on the roads 😉
