There’s not much for adults to do in Canberra, but it’s actually pretty baby-friendly because we had fairly good weather for most of the trip, and the house was situated right by a lovely little pond with ducks to feed. There’s also parks and playgrounds around the place.. and lots of areas for Hunter to run around in.
Much of our time was also spent chilling at home, which Hunter liked because there’s a big yard with his own personal ride-em car, and the living room had a Thomas train set (one of his Christmas presents) that he adored.
Only problem was that Carter did get bored from time to time at home.. he’s not a homebody at ALL and likes the exciting sights and sounds of going out, so he tended to fuss/scream more at home. But, at least there were 6-7 adults on hand at any time of the day to be his personal carrier 😛
One of my favourite meals was a good ‘ol breakfast BBQ in the backyard. It’s what I miss about Australia. The weather was perfect and warm, and my FIL tossed together a fab breakfast for everyone. Yummy!!!!!

did you visit Questacon in canberra? it is really fun for kids/adults but not so much for the little ones though.

It’s especially hard at Christmas time in Canberra because EVERYTHING is closed.
SO TRUE… we were so so disapointed the Old Bus Depot markets were closed, as well as other markets we checked out on Sat, and errrmmm… a ton of other things 🙁
It’s a pity cos the bus depot markets are a fun way to spend some hours on Sunday. They also have yummy Ethiopian food (the owners of the stall have a restaurant in Dickson but I think the market stall is better cos it’s way cheaper and the service is MUCH friendlier), all the curries are great and the kite (I think that’s the name) spiced bread is amazing (but oily). Also the fresh orange and lemon juice (separate stall, but close by) is awesome (specially compared to the horrible totally not home made stuff I tried at the rocks markets which tasted like cordial).
You’ll have to come another time, but NOT at Christmas. Or winter cos it’s too cold :p spring is lovely if you don’t get hay fever. Especially when Floriade is on.
