FASHION, Jimmy Choo, Uncategorized JIMMY CHOO TURQUOISE JEWEL SANDALS 10 March 2010

It is absolutely freezing in Shanghai last week and this week, with temperatures dropping to -2 celcius. It even snowed yesterday, and it hardly ever snows in Shanghai! The chill is painful – it eats right into your bones and snap-freezes your fingers if they’re exposed. Ugh.

In anticipation of glorious summer, I’ve got a pair of Jimmy Choo turquoise jewel sandals! The barely-there sandals will be brilliant in the sweltering heat of Shanghai’s summer, and I really like the cheery colours πŸ™‚

Begone horrible winter! Are you preparing for summer too?

I asked on Twitter but I just need to know. You posted a similar pair some time back. Are they the same? I love them and have been searching for them but can’t find them online. Pray tell where you got these. Thanks.

Ya, haven’t worn em yet.. but gearing up for summer, hehe. I got them ages ago so I guess they were still in stock but discounted!

Summer? What is this summer you speak of?

I hate the cold weather so badly, I have no words for it. Probably not a good idea to live in Winnipeg – it seriously is the coldest part of Canada – colder than the Nunavut quite often! What the…? I grew up in Toronto so I’ll never quite get used to it. I’d love to experience those long, sweaty, hot, humid Toronto summers again. Or Shanghai’s!!

I also want a new pair of sandal/slides this year but they have to have a little heel and be super-comfortable. I’m a fan of Ecco and Hush Puppy(!) cause they can be stylish but it’s like you’re wearing runners. Maybe with a strap:

Or just a slide:

I also need to start looking for basic, black capris pants to go with little sleeveless shirts.

Lol! I’m such a summer girl.. so that’s the thing that depresses me about Shanghai. Of course, not as wintery as Winnipeg πŸ˜‰

I like Ecco and Hush puppies too, they’re sooo comfy!

I think they’re a bit flat, which is a weird thing to say πŸ˜› I think normally I prefer shoes with a little bit of heel, it’s more comfy. I love how open it is though, it’s fantastic for hot weather!

No I’m anticipating autumn/winter! hahhahaa! So excited for that; I prefer winter fashion to summer. Much more chic and I love layering.

Haha we’re opposites! I don’t like winter fashion cos it’s always the same few coats that I keep wearing πŸ˜› And also I’m a chicken and can’t handle the cold…

you know…

I’ve always wondered… do you think Jimmy Choo got into Shoes because he was called Jimmy Choo? Or is it just a coincidence? I mean if his name was … I dunno… Jimmy Beckett, you think he would be making Jackets?

Re: you know…

I bet his real name isn’t Jimmy Choo – it’s probably Jimmy Chen and he just changed it to sound more interesting! ;o)

Re: you know…

I’m pretty sure it’s his real name, he’s a Malaysian.. but he was just a simple shoemaker and the brand actually got taken over. I read a whole story about the Jimmy Choo brand, but forgot most of it now πŸ˜›

Re: you know…

So it’s just convenient his name rhymes with shoe? πŸ˜›
It’s very Aussie rhyming slang – jimmy choos instead of shoes! :o)

OOoh lovely!
Do you find that designer shoes last longer than other cheaper shoes? I mean not comparing to a $20 pair of flats (obviously won’t last that long) but say compared to an $80 pair of RMKs?
I never think I can justify the $$$ for really luxe shoes!

that’s a really good question and one that’s fit for myth busters. I have this somewhat benign hypothesis that designer stuff lasts longer partly because people take better care of the more expensive items.

you’re right, if you compare with really cheap shoes, it’s a huge difference.

But when it’s maybe $100-200 shoes they actually hold up about the same. As in, sole/heel wear would be identical since it’s pretty much the same material.

The stitching on luxury brand shoes might be tighter and more precise, but overall it’s quite similiar πŸ™‚

These are really pretty though… :o)
No designs like that in the $100 range! Not that I’ve seen at least..
So you pay for the aesthetics!
