Fujiya
605 George St
Haymarket, Australia

PRICE: $$$
RATING:

Fujiya is a fab little Japanese restaurant in Sydney’s Chinatown, where all the chef are Japanese (and barely speak English) so you genuinely do feel like you’re in an authentic Japanese restaurant πŸ˜› I always hear lots of Japanese when I’m there, which is always great news. It’s actually a large restaurant, but is often brimming with people, and so you need to make reservations or rock up early to get a table.

It was here that and I, and our two husbands, met up for dinner. We could order up a storm of dishes and share between us, as well as chat over their fabulous cocktails and beers. What an awesome way to catch up with your fabulous friends! The food at Fujiya’s fantastic – fresh sashimis and wonderfully cooked food. The only downside of the night was the Japanese omelette (forgot the real name) which they make at your table – very cool to watch, but that night they had a major fail. There was way way way way too much dough so it was super thick and tasted like a big, heavy pancake. Didn’t taste good and I didn’t feel so great after eating about half of it.

Fortunately, the rest of the dishes were fab. Best of all their Deep fried camembert. They do it the BEST here!!!! Oozy, more-ish cheese encased in crisp breadcrumbs, and eaten with a dollop of cranberries. Oh it is luscious. By far my favourite dish and a total must-order at Fujiya πŸ™‚

Don’t park in the city carpark like we did. Or if you do, be really careful. We were there for 2 hours and parking was AU$38!! Cripes! My dinner nearly came back out when I found out the price.. *mutters*… But, we did have a great meal, and a very fun sleepover + gossip session afterwards, hehe.

Our guys

ROFL!

Deep fried camembert – #1 favourite dish at Fujiya

Sashimi boat – so fresh!

Japanese omelette – terrible

Beef – it was so oily and tender and delish

Me and my girl friend!

CHEERS (those alcoholic green tea cocktails are bliss)

@ anonymous: tried the LCD ordering japanese joint in Chatswood (Takeru I think it’s called), loved it because the service is just the quickets, they have a playmat locked area for kids and LCD screen is just like heaven for geeky hubbies hehe. Will try the CHinatown location soon

Hi if you guys intend to go to another Japanese restaurant might I suggest Wagaya’s which is opposite the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Haymarket. It has a pretty nice decor and you order through a LCD screen … gimmicks I love them.

They also have sushi roulette. Plate of six sushis with one jam packed with wasabi nice “dessert” treat.
