Use Ubuntu Linux!
You can try downloading ubuntu Linux on your laptop and use that while waiting for the XP disk. The installation is fast.

MIne’s a really BAD trojan, it just won’t go away – partly because it hangs everything so I can’t even run anti-virus software, etc! So sad..

The same thing is happening with my PC.. soo annoying! I don’t think it’s a trojan. That’s nice of Dell to send you an XP disc, though it sucks that you have to format your computer. I assume that you’ve tried to get rid of the virus? I had a trojan once and managed to kill it while in safe mode..
