FOOD, Living in... Singapore, Uncategorized JAPANESE GOODIES 7 March 2007

There were 2 earthquakes in Indonesia today, and it was felt in Singapore by many. Mum and I were trying to figure out if we felt it.. and finally realised that we were having lunch at that time, and were too busy gobbling down our food to even notice/feel/realise the earthquake tremors! Many others in the area felt it though, as we later saw on TV. So weird.

Anyway, my cousin’s Japanese friend came back from her short stint back to Japan and bought everyone some cool Japanese goodies. The mochi was adorable! It came in the cutest little pink paper packet, which you unwrap and pull a little wooden toothpick out then pour the mini sachet of sweet caramel on top of the mochi and peanuts. Mum loved it, but I’m not a huge mochi fan in the first place. It was still nice though!

But my favourite was the biscuits – apparently a famous/popular brand in Japan. The spectacular thing about Japanese biscuits is that they are ALWAYS brilliant – they come i individually wrapped and taste better and more delicate that biscuits from other countries. These were sooooo good!!

She also bought us some Kyushu Ramen, as she’s from that area and swears it’s the best ramen πŸ˜› The ramen is fresh so you just need to pop it into a pot of boiling water and cook it for a few minutes and that’s it! I had it for dinner with some fresh crabsticks, corn kernels and krispie-bits. Mmmmmm :)~ Too bad it isn’t available in Australia

Yoku Moku makes the best biscuits in the world IMO. My Japanese friend always lug some to Singapore for me whenever she visits.

If only I’d discovered them earlier! I wonder if they have more varieties.. we only had about 4-5 in the box

They do and you have got the assortment box. I love the one that looks like love letters. YUMMY!
I have a thing for their beautiful tin boxes too.

This reminds me, I think I want to paint my nails again. What polish are you wearing? I love my Chanel Black Satin! Hope you’re doing well πŸ™‚

I am SO lazy when it comes to nails, haha! I was eyeing Chanel’s “dior pink” and “dior beige” today, have you tried it? Is the “black satin” super black or more like mine in the pic above? Ahhh decisions decisions πŸ˜›

mmm…yoku moku biscuit/cookies…..soooo incredibly tasty. i miss them!! i used to work for a japanese company here in the US and we had visitors all the time from Japan and they used to bring us goodies…Like these! Hmmm….I need to see if I can find them in the US.

It was VERY cool. If it hadn’t been about the almighty $$ I probably would have stayed. these visitors would bring us anything and EVERYTHING to munch on. even alcohol filled candies… the only thing i didn’t like was anything with red beans, you know, that was SUPPOSED to be a dessert. blech.
