A colleague went to various countries/cities around the world and brought back, what better, than chocolates/candy as souvenirs. A girl after my own heart!
USA
USA Godiva chocolate truffles
Hawaiian sugar cookies
USA Heath chocolate
USA York peppermint patties
USA BabyRuth chocolates
London chocolate pastilles
Oh I love heath bars… They taste REALLY GOOD crushed and baked into cookies or crushed and sprinkled over ice cream π I like the peppermint patties too. They are also really good if you use them as frosting… take a warm cake out of the oven and put the peppermint pattys all over the top. You have to do it as soon as it comes out of the oven and the cakes very warm… wait a few minutes and spread the softened pattys all over the cake! GREAT with chocolate cake. yum.
the buttered popcorn jellybeans ? um. not so much … they are just odd to me π
Most of them disappear off shelves within a week or two, but here’s a site with a few examples of what I meant if you scroll through the 3 pages…

There are *hundreds* of these released a year, meant to be eye catching impulse items. Very cute. Best selection is found in convenience stores, by the cash registers, in places such as 7-11. That’s probably why you didn’t see them, Bev, it’s not normally someplace a tourist would stop and who ever thinks about gum anyway?
Many years ago when I was getting a Masters degree in Advertising one of the teams in my class did a project on gum and brought in $100 or so worth of the stuff and it was just too cute to see them all at once. That’s how I first noticed the gum and took it seriously as art. Apparently some people collect these items but then again someone out there collects everything made, lol.
i love jellybeans, find that they really vary in their flavours. most candies more or less taste the same. enjoy!!

Haha, this is the first food post of yours *ever* that I haven’t been jealous of. The USA candies are so common that other than the Godiva it’s all stuff sold in supermarkets here. IMHO, one of the coolest things we have here, to look at anyway, are the limited edition bubble gums which come shaped like everything from burgers to bandaids to checkbooks. There are hundreds of them released a year. Jelly Belly has all sorts of interesting flavors of beans. They have a web site where you can not only see the different flavor names but also how to make combinations (ie eat one peanut butter one and one jelly one together for a peanut butter sandwich…). They sell for $6-7 a pound and there are a LOT of beans in a pound. That other chocolate stuff was about $2-3 a bag. I’m surprised she didn’t bring back some of the Halloween candies which are shaped like skeletons, witches, eyes, and other “scary” things…
Heheh well for us, it’s total novelty! USA have really cool stuff, your bubble gums sound so cute, I don’t think I saw those when I was there!
Chocolate! Cookies! Buttered Jellybeans!! *DROOOL*
Mmm they were gooood. And your icon is HILARIOUS π
Oohh.. looks yummy! I spy Peppermint patties.. aha! LOL
They were nice! Mainly cos they weren’t all creamy and filling, but just nice and refreshing

ooooo I want to try those Godiva chocolates! They’re famous!
I personally don’t like them as much as Royce or even Lindt.. but they’re still pretty good :)~
Those sugar cookies look familiar…hehe…did your friend come to Hawaii?
Ya, she was there for a day or two I believe!
Not a fan of those popcorn-flavoured jelly beans. But they have a lot of other delicious flavours.
I THINK I’ve had the watermelon and that was mmm :)~
the popcorn jelly beans are sooo good…
They really are! So bizzare but so good
As tempted as you may be to eat those Jelly Belly’s like… well… popcorn. Resist. Only eat a few at at time. Otherwise you’ll end up with a horrid bellyache.
Really?! Is it just cos of the high sugar or the artificial flavour? I had about 4 so fortunately not too many!
Why don’t we have all these exciting lollies/chocolates in Australia?
I tried to think of some typically Aussie lollies to send to a friend in the U.S. and all I could think of was Natural Confectionary stuff, like those Blinky Bills… What else do we have?
We do get nice stuff too, namely Tim Tams, mmmmmm!!
Buttered popcorn….my FAVORITE!!
I normally don’t eat jelly beans, but these were gooood!

All those candies look so fun, just in time for Halloween. What fun souvenirs.
