Hi, just thought I’ll post and let you know I’m still reading your LJ. Must have been about 2+ years since I added you? I really enjoy reading and looking at all the food posts :). Also wanted to bring up a point about private posting…. I don’t know what other people use LJ for, but for me in addition to regular postings, I use it to remind myself of things (to do), and misc stuff like arranging with local friends to meet (much easier to do comments style where everyone can see all the replies than to reply-to-all email). Such posts I would naturally only post to private or specific groups as I’m sure no one wants to read them, so not really a trusting issue. Other than that, friends posts are friends posts. Hope I’m making sense! 🙂

Haha no. just sick of having 23652353 people on my friends list, so I just end up scared of reading my own friends page 😉 So the first people that’s easiest to remove are those that i don’t know, but that’s still about 300 people.. so next is to try and remove people that get me to add them, then make all sub-friend entries.. hopefully trying to get my list down to about 100 people!

Oftentimes I make some of my entries private after a while. But they are usually public entries for a while before I put them under private.
Usually the entries I put under private are things that keep on getting comments and I want to end the topic [like a couple weeks ago~>it was getting out of hand lol]

But anyway, just for the record, I do privatise some of my entries, sort of like an archive thing but most of the entries are already public at first. But after say a month or so,etc. then I make them private cos I don’t like stuff clogging my page. 🙂 Also some other entries relevant to school people for school events and msgs for specific people are open to them only. Too lazy to use email sometimes. 🙂

It’s been sooo long since I started following your journal. Must of been sometime in 1999-2000 – I still remember that gorgeous goldish/brownish layout you had at gypsy.net (is that the right address? I’m so bad with the names of things). Wow, I even still remember before you went to Uni (and the few audio entries you made) and your first few entries about Chris… :O Makes me wish I had been/am more active with my journal on my site these days. hey, thanks for keeping me – your journal is definitely one of my top 5 favorites (i love your food pictures! you always have the most delicious-looking meals) and i’ve been reading it for a long time.
i do make a LOT of private entries, where i write about secrets/problems/feelings that i don’t want to share with anyone. i also have a paper journal for these things, but sometimes it’s more convenient to just click my livejournal update icon on my desktop and quickly write down a thought (i’m obsessive about recording my thoughts). so that’s why. the public and friends-only entries in my journal are also pretty candid, it’s just that for me there’s such a thing as TOO candid.

Hey Bev, Some people like me filter my list for posts that say *prata session* or some makan stuff coz obviously not everyone on my list wants to see stuff that discuss some meeting place among a few people only & on where to eat LOL! I also filter my list when I do mini sprees for some friends only since those who are not interested would be so annoyed with all the order updates/money collection. I also open up hot gossips entries to all but only for a few days. I would then privatise then & eventually delete them. Sometime such entries aired too long would invite strange attention. 😉

Also I thought you might like to know sometimes there are good reasons for making certain posts filtered/private. For example whenever I head back to Singapore I usually post and ask if anyone in Singapore needs a CP from Australia. I’ll filter the post so only those in Singapore can see it, makes more sense this way coz others won’t be interested in the entry and it will just clog up their friends page. Same when organising a joint purchase/spree (coz bank details are involved) and heaps of other reasons. 🙂

oh i don’t mean you at all.. people that I know are real people with real lifes, I love having on my list. Its anon people or ones want you to add them, but you know they set up a filter for all their entries. Er, hard to explain, you just kinda get trust some people, and some you don’t!
It’s nice of you to filter your friends with certain entries though.. I actually intended to do that – normal stuff here, fashion stuff on myfashionpassion.com, but somehow that didn’t work, lol!
Don’t worry, I know what you mean. 🙂 And it can be confusing trying to filter your entries so I try to keep it simple. I pretty much try to keep it in just 2 groups, those interested in fashion and those who are not (so I won’t bore them with my shopping haul). :p

heyss! i don’t know what your entry mean about filtering some private entries.! so i’m still in the list 😀 but i’m quite confused! anyway. i love your blog!! i learn alot of things with your blogging on sydney stuff. at leats i feel a sense of familiarity when you blog about them. 😀
Oh basically I’m only going to have my entries viewable by People that I know, in real life or online.. and I know you, so def having you on my list if you don’t mind! 🙂
Just checked out your friends list and it’s huge! It must be hell going through your friends page, good luck sorting it all out.
Also I thought you might like to know sometimes there are good reasons for making certain posts filtered/private. For example whenever I head back to Singapore I usually post and ask if anyone in Singapore needs a CP from Australia. I’ll filter the post so only those in Singapore can see it, makes more sense this way coz others won’t be interested in the entry and it will just clog up their friends page. Same when organising a joint purchase/spree (coz bank details are involved) and heaps of other reasons. 🙂

oh i don’t mean you at all.. people that I know are real people with real lifes, I love having on my list. Its anon people or ones want you to add them, but you know they set up a filter for all their entries. Er, hard to explain, you just kinda get trust some people, and some you don’t!
It’s nice of you to filter your friends with certain entries though.. I actually intended to do that – normal stuff here, fashion stuff on myfashionpassion.com, but somehow that didn’t work, lol!

Haha no. just sick of having 23652353 people on my friends list, so I just end up scared of reading my own friends page 😉 So the first people that’s easiest to remove are those that i don’t know, but that’s still about 300 people.. so next is to try and remove people that get me to add them, then make all sub-friend entries.. hopefully trying to get my list down to about 100 people!

Oftentimes I make some of my entries private after a while. But they are usually public entries for a while before I put them under private.
Usually the entries I put under private are things that keep on getting comments and I want to end the topic [like a couple weeks ago~>it was getting out of hand lol]

But anyway, just for the record, I do privatise some of my entries, sort of like an archive thing but most of the entries are already public at first. But after say a month or so,etc. then I make them private cos I don’t like stuff clogging my page. 🙂 Also some other entries relevant to school people for school events and msgs for specific people are open to them only. Too lazy to use email sometimes. 🙂

hey, thanks for keeping me – your journal is definitely one of my top 5 favorites (i love your food pictures! you always have the most delicious-looking meals) and i’ve been reading it for a long time.
i do make a LOT of private entries, where i write about secrets/problems/feelings that i don’t want to share with anyone. i also have a paper journal for these things, but sometimes it’s more convenient to just click my livejournal update icon on my desktop and quickly write down a thought (i’m obsessive about recording my thoughts). so that’s why. the public and friends-only entries in my journal are also pretty candid, it’s just that for me there’s such a thing as TOO candid.

Hey Bev, Some people like me filter my list for posts that say *prata session* or some makan stuff coz obviously not everyone on my list wants to see stuff that discuss some meeting place among a few people only & on where to eat LOL! I also filter my list when I do mini sprees for some friends only since those who are not interested would be so annoyed with all the order updates/money collection. I also open up hot gossips entries to all but only for a few days. I would then privatise then & eventually delete them. Sometime such entries aired too long would invite strange attention. 😉

Nah i don’t take off people that don’t comment, that’s way mean! I just basically took of people I don’t know and are really vague about their identity.. it’s not really anything dramatic, just want to have a more managable friends-list size really 😛

hey, thanks for keeping me – your journal is definitely one of my top 5 favorites (i love your food pictures! you always have the most delicious-looking meals) and i’ve been reading it for a long time.
i do make a LOT of private entries, where i write about secrets/problems/feelings that i don’t want to share with anyone. i also have a paper journal for these things, but sometimes it’s more convenient to just click my livejournal update icon on my desktop and quickly write down a thought (i’m obsessive about recording my thoughts). so that’s why. the public and friends-only entries in my journal are also pretty candid, it’s just that for me there’s such a thing as TOO candid.

Your private entries aren’t what I mean.. sincec everyone is allowed to have private thoughts! 😛 I just mean a few people that ask me to add them so they can read my entire LJ, then make all of their entries open to another group of friends.. a bit weird :X

Hey Bev, Some people like me filter my list for posts that say *prata session* or some makan stuff coz obviously not everyone on my list wants to see stuff that discuss some meeting place among a few people only & on where to eat LOL! I also filter my list when I do mini sprees for some friends only since those who are not interested would be so annoyed with all the order updates/money collection. I also open up hot gossips entries to all but only for a few days. I would then privatise then & eventually delete them. Sometime such entries aired too long would invite strange attention. 😉
That said, YAY I am still on your list! 🙂
Yeah I don’t mean people like you with legit filtered stuff.. just 1 or 2 people that ask to be added, but then make almost every entry blocked to a separate group. Just weird!

Just checked out your friends list and it’s huge! It must be hell going through your friends page, good luck sorting it all out.
Also I thought you might like to know sometimes there are good reasons for making certain posts filtered/private. For example whenever I head back to Singapore I usually post and ask if anyone in Singapore needs a CP from Australia. I’ll filter the post so only those in Singapore can see it, makes more sense this way coz others won’t be interested in the entry and it will just clog up their friends page. Same when organising a joint purchase/spree (coz bank details are involved) and heaps of other reasons. 🙂

oh i don’t mean you at all.. people that I know are real people with real lifes, I love having on my list. Its anon people or ones want you to add them, but you know they set up a filter for all their entries. Er, hard to explain, you just kinda get trust some people, and some you don’t!
It’s nice of you to filter your friends with certain entries though.. I actually intended to do that – normal stuff here, fashion stuff on myfashionpassion.com, but somehow that didn’t work, lol!
Don’t worry, I know what you mean. 🙂 And it can be confusing trying to filter your entries so I try to keep it simple. I pretty much try to keep it in just 2 groups, those interested in fashion and those who are not (so I won’t bore them with my shopping haul). :p
