The
Man, if only the government could create this dome over ALL of Singapore! And air-condition the entire country! Wouldn’t that be awesome 😉
It’s soooo nice to stroll around in air-conditioned comfort and enjoy the Flower Dome. It’ a stunning display of flora and there’s lush greenery everywhere.
There is so much to see and take in – not just the orchids. The surrounding trees stand tall, fanning up skywards. And they really set off the rainbow colours of the orchids housed in the middle of the dome.
This is the view from the upper level of the dome, looking down toward the main area. Designed by award-winning landscape architect Jun-ichi Inada, the Orchid Extravaganza features approximately 18,000 orchid plants! Succinctly put – there are a crapload of orchids in here. I never knew so many colours and varieties existed!
A tiny section of the myriad of orchid varieties in the dome. The saturated colours were really impressive, and the photos needed no retouching!
I think it’s best not to touch the orchids, you know, the whole look but no touch concept. Of course, easier said than done, when you’re dealing with young kids! Fortunately, Carter didn’t bother with touching them, and Hunter has a gentle-gentle personality anyway, so he fingered some of the flowers very delicately, like they were the most precious things on earth. I felt a bit guilty though, since I wasn’t sure if it was a signal to others to go touch the flowers too!!
Taking the time to appreciate life, and stopping to smell the flowers 🙂
