Beauty LUSH’S EMOTIONAL BRILLIANCE 20 August 2012

I’ve loved LUSH ever since my Australia days, even though their stores are pretty potent – one whiff as you enter is enough to knock you out! At first glance they seem a bit gimmicky, but I actually really like many of their products and have used many of them over the years.

They recently released the Emotional Brilliance range, which is a cosmetics range all in cute dropper bottles. I was a bit iffy at the start because I wasn’t convinced LUSH could do cosmetics, but was really impressed after trying them out at the store and bought a few bits and bobs.

So here’s a quick review on the stuff I bought!

POWER lip stain

I’m a bit of a sucker for lip stains, because they’re so fuss-free. I fell in love with the POWER lip stain because of the colour – a stunning coral/red infused with subtle gold microshimmer. It’s super pretty! You only need the teeniest amount on your lips, which I spread using my pinkie finger. I don’t find it very drying, but I like using a glossy lip balm on top to give it depth and keep my lips hydrated. Best of all, you can also use it as a long-lasting blush. Only downside is that I’m not sure if the packaging can survive being chucked in my handbag?

FANTASY eye liner

Wow talk about pigmented! The FANTASY eye liner really does look like liquid gold. I think it looks particularly lovely drawn over smudged black eyeliner, because it gives a *flash* of gold when you blink. It’s party perfect, yet not too bling for day time wear. Staying power is also top notch. I have to get used to using liquid eyeliners though.. because I normally use pencil ones.

EYES RIGHT mascara

I haven’t used a ‘normal’ mascara in ages, because I’ve used those Japanese mascaras that form physical ‘tubes’ around your lashes for years now. I find the EYES RIGHT mascara easy to apply, but doesn’t give a very dramatic look.. it’s almost more of an eyelash stain to me? Or perhaps I’m used to the thicker/longer lashes that the ‘tube’ mascaras give. I just read the official site and they say to use “3 to 4 coats”, so I might give that a go. Pretty impressive staying power, though.

CHARISMA skin tint

The CHARISMA skin tint is a ‘supplement’, which means you mix it into your foundation, BB cream or plain moisturizer. It’s a beautiful glowy bronze, and I reckon it gives a certain depth and richness to your makeup base. I have some BB creams that are too light for me, so this is the perfect supplement to mix into it to match my skin tone.

And below is my absolute favourite lip balm of the moment – Sarah Happ’s The Lip Slip, which I bought from one of my favourite online beauty stores Luxola (outstanding service and buying experience every time!). I normally use Lucas’ papaw ointment as my ‘treatment’ lip balm, which I use overnight, because it’s super hydrating. But now it’s been replaced with The Lip Slip because it’s simply fab.

The Lip Slip is really really creamy and rich, but has a gorgeous shine to it. It’s pretty enough to wear out, but also potent and moisturizing enough as a night treatment. It’s worth every penny and I love it so much that I’ve also bought the squeeze tube version (to pop into my hand bag)! Totally recommended and if you love your lip balm, you’ll love this one 🙂

Anthony Wong threw away the bath bomb coz it attracted ants… and the carrot was way too slippery soapy for babies/tots compared to baby burt’s bees. oh well… lush didn’t work for me

The flower one worked well for us cos it’s super bubbly and smells quite nice! So weird that ants came… maybe they put sugar? Cos ours is still sitting there on the bathroom sink and no ants so far..
