The Yixing Economic Development Zone sponsored us (and other foreigners) to go to Yixing to attend the 2009 Golden Autumn Festival Economy & Trade Fair. It was very very generous of them and we were well taken care of for the whole weekend. Everything was organised for us – the coaches to get there, a 5-star hotel to rest in, lots of delicious food and of course, sight-seeing!

It was just over 2.5 hours to Yixing, so we slept most of the way. The weather there is utter perfection this time of year. Crisp and breezy, with bright sun and blue skies. What I liked most about the city was the lack of people. It was really open, and wasn’t crowded with people at all, even on the weekend. I’m so used to Shanghai’s masses of people, and being pushed and shoved all the time, that it felt a bit odd knowing that I was still in China, but people weren’t whacking me. It was fantastic 😉
