My 4th finger is a weirdo Size
So it’s being made right now and I get to see my wedding ring for the first time in August when we arrive in Singapore. I hope hope HOPE it will fit properly and look good *fingers and toes crossed*!
Chris is turning his nose up at the standard platinum or gold wedding bands and going for………. tungsten carbide. Yeah, I have no idea where he came up with that either! But he was doing research and loved it because it’s stronger than all the other regular metals and can only be polished and finished with diamonds – COOL! It’s used in the military for armour plating, and as a ring, is completely resistant to scratches and scuffing. He’s going to get a brushed metal one which looks like a soft silver.
My wedding ring – Eternity diamonds
Chris’ wedding ring – brushed metal Tungsten Carbide
Oooh, they look gorgeous! Now you will have a sparkly finger forever π
I also googled what tungsten carbide is and it sounds very interesting! Will keep it in mind when I get married (which won’t be for a while…)
Yeah def something you may consider! π

Your rings are both beautiful. Just a small note about the tungsten carbide, because that was originally my husbands first choice, too, until he found out that tungsten is so hard that it cannot be cut. It is formed and created from a powder. As such, should there ever be an incident where the ring needs to be removed (say he jams a finger or something), the ring cannot just be cut off, but must be shattered using a special tool that not all hospitals have. When my husband learned this, the idea of possibly having to have his finger cut off freaked him out so much that he switched to platinum instead. I thought it was silly cause it seemed like such a slim chance, but he never would have been fully comfortable wearing it knowing that information. Just a heads up!
I heard that was an urban myth so got no idea now!

your set will be all bling-ed out, nice!
hehe it will look nice i hope! bling like your JC shoes, sooooooo pretty
Your wedding ring will be perfect! Mine is an eternity band (channel setting) as well and it’s nice and dainty with the EG!
I think you posted yours before , tis gorgeous! I think once we have kids though I might just wear the wedding ring.. scared the eng ring will scratch a baby..?
I love how Chris is really into the research!
I was surprised, pleasantly surprised tho.. I like guys that take a keen interest in their own wedding π

The ring looks fabulous! It will look so pretty next to you engagement ring π My fingers small, not that small… more like a 5, maybe a tiny bit smaller but store sizes are usually 6 so I usually need things sized too. But at least I can ‘see’ how they will look without them looking weirdly big. π
Big hugs on the strides your making in the short time you have left!
i think a size 6 is the perfect size for fingers.. then you can buy or at least try off the shelf! π
thats exactly how i wanted my wedding bands to be too! but my fingers are too small and eternity bands cant be resized! boohoo.. so we decided to shelf the search and get married with our engagement bands. controversial ya?
congrats on all the exciting wedding plans!! i cant wait to see your wedding pictures! you’ll make a beautiful bride!!!
You can do like what I did, get the band made from scratch cos my finger is a US 3 and normal size people are about a US 9, so there’s no way they could resize π
I was considering using my eng ring as my wedding ring too.. cos i love it as-is! π

But I thought the ring in your icon was your wedding ring? *confused* I dunno how this stuff works. ;p
Hehe noo that ring in the icon is the engagement ring Chris propsed to me with last year! The wedding ring will be worn alongside it once we get married π
Ahh, I see. My sisters did it a bit differently. Their engagement ring was their wedding ring too! I guess it makes more sense to have two though. π
your wedding ring is BEAUTIFUL!
i’ve never heard of Tungsten Carbide before, but Chris’ ring looks really lovely. Simple yet elegant. Perfect for a man.
I hadn’t heard of it either until Chris told me, but it does sound quite cool so i’m all for it π
yours is pretty!!
mind sharing where chris is getting his done??
He’ll be in Australia in the next week or two, so getting it made there!
ahhh ok doks, get contact from you next time! i think its cool =)

i have the same wedding ring π
and my hubby decided to go with the tungsten carbide as well, same brushed design and beveled edges like Chris, but in a slightly darker color. I have to say, we’ve been married for 5 months, and his ring still looks like it just came out of the box.
enjoy your big day – post pix for us!
wow what a coincidence, that’s so cool! Does he like the tungsten carbide? is it light or heavy? I’ve never seen it in real life….
he likes the tungsten coz it’s simple and no maintenance. When we we’re looking, he was considering titanium as well, but titanium is way too light.
tungsten is heavy, comparable to platinum or maybe slightly heavier.it makes a very distnict noise when dropped – like a really high pitched *ting* LOL. i know since i tend to drop it on the floor on purpose to try to debunk the who scratch-resistant crap π
ps: why is chris getting his tungten ring made? if he’s really decided on the tungsten, why not just buy it off ebay or something. I’ve seen them sell for $30US+shipping. just make sure he gets his ring finger fitted before ordering and you guys should get it before the BIG DAY.
Niiiice it sounds good! He’s getting it in AU but think we’re gonna buy one on eBay first to check fit etc since it’s cheaper…
Lovely rings!
I decided against a full eternity ring for myself – for practical purposes (yeah, how unromantic!) – I’m quite chor lor… either the ring will crack something, or I’ll somehow manage to crack the ring with something, so we settled for simple platinum rings. They’re still in perfect shape, even after 12 years of marriage. π
yeah it’s not as durable as plain platinum… but i can’t see myself wearing a plain band, hee, so i’m insisting on the eternity π
Norwegians have different customs when it comes to wearing wedding bands. In my family, we wear them on our right hand – engagement ring and wedding band stacked together on the ring finger. So it fortunately doesn’t look as plain as it would have looked without my engagement ring next to it.
My wedding band was punked/ blinged! *giggle*
Yay!!! Can’t wait to see your wedding pics and the whole fairytale process… Congrats in advance and getting excited too for ya!!! Sweet!
i totally can’t wait for aug 8… hee, less than 1 month now!
make sure you don’t lose another small diamond
yeah, they know how small the ring has to be so they’re doing the clasps carefully!
Your wedding ring is BEAUTIFUL! This is so exciting for you, I’m sure! π
Yayyy thanks hon! I seriously cant wait til 8 aug π
Beautiful rings! Wow, I’d not heard of tungsten carbide either!

Both your rings look very nice. Chris’s ring is going forever look shiny and new!
Yeah, it’s one of the reasons why he likes it so much! Just wish tungsten carbide was more easily available around..
But I thought the ring in your icon was your wedding ring? *confused* I dunno how this stuff works. ;p

Ahh, I see. My sisters did it a bit differently. Their engagement ring was their wedding ring too! I guess it makes more sense to have two though. π
I have the same problem. My ring finger is probably half a size or one size bigger than yours and everything I liked I couldn’t get resized because they said it would “pop the setting”. I ended up getting a cheap band on my own and having it resized, but I would’ve loved something I would’ve cherished a bit more.
I guess you have to get it custom made too, it’s a pain, cos i at least want to SEE what it looks like before i commit to buying it.. booo!
Chris’s ring looks exactly like Merrill’s! Except Merrill’s ring is platinum.
Ohh we should’ve had a good look at Merrill’s ring whilst we were in SG, doh. Silly chris won’t do with gold or platinum, so now we have to try and special order his in, argh!
I love yours!! Same taste as me π
You can see mine when I get it and maybe you can get yours done at the same place next time! π
Wow! Sounds ‘cheem’..I need to google to see what it means..Rings look great!
Dya mean Chinese? Not sure if tungsten carbide is even available in china.. i think it’s more popular in the USA! π
“cheem” is a singaporean slang for ‘complicated’. π
