You’ve been eating out a lot lately, are you trying to soak up all the Australian restaurants before you move?
Spot on, it’s a mad dash π
Ooh if you love lamb then you will love lamb meat kebabs here in China! The best ones are from Xinjiang (which is a region north east – it’s the one Muslim region of China! I really want to go but it’s HUGE and very far away) and they put a really yummy seasoning on it and cook on the BBQ in front of you. SO good! It’s unfortunately less common in Shanghai than it is in Beijing (which is further north and so closer to Xinjiang) but I think they always have them at festival type events. I know you don’t like the idea of street foods, but these are SO delicious, once you’ve hardened your stomachs a little bit I definitely recommend them! :o)
Also, I hate how many so-so Thai places there are in Australia! And how so often “spicy” is not really all that spicy! I haven’t tried Thai here yet, but I’ve heard there’s a few good places, including one near the Bund. I’ll let you know if I find anything!
Wow I wouldn’t even have imagined lamb meat kebabs in China! Is that a traditional dish or is it like the lebanese kind?
Totally agree most Thai places are totally fake here in AU.. it’s like nothing you’d ever find in Thailand, heh!
Oh wow, everything at A La Facon de Shimizu looks so good, particularly the tempura camembert! Is that meant to be dessert or as an appetizer?
It’s served as an appetizer but MAN it is tough to eat a whole wheel of deep fried cheese, so we always share it between 2
Wow, the welcome note is so..personal! π
Yeah, quite surprising but such a nice touch:)
Did you try the Duck Leg Confit at A La Facon de Shimizu? I recommend it highly!
Ooo I haven’t but did on my bday dinner!
