Gosh – maybe I would have enjoyed Shanghai much better if I stayed in such a swanky hotel… πŸ˜› I guess the fact that it was snowing like nobody’s business and too cold to go outside at all didn’t help. Still, despite all that, I still enjoyed my trip to Shanghai earlier this year πŸ™‚ You should definitely go to Yuyuan if you have time, apart from being such a gorgeous place with really nice colonial style architecture and quaint little shops, there’s also a really delicious xiao long bao place, I have never tasted xiao long bao that good before in my life!! πŸ™‚ (And I remember you like xiao long bao!)

You’ll have to let us know if you decide to stay… soon! πŸ™‚

Can you speak Mandarin at all?

Ohh I heard it doesn’t snow often, I wish it did, I’d love that! We went to Yuyuan today… so much fun, and yes, we had the Xiao long bao there, hehehe

I can speak mandarin but its’ so rusty, but I can understand some!

Oh wow, your hotel is awesome!

I went to Shanghai a few years back and yes, it was a vibrant city! And I’ve never seen so many bicycles on the streets in my whole entire life! LOL. I didn’t enjoy the polluted air though πŸ™

yeah so many bicycles LOL. I haven’t really noticed the polluted air though.. it seems about the same as Sydney to me, except it was pretty foggy yesterday/today ‘cos of all the rain πŸ™

looks like plenty of fun and luxury too πŸ™‚

never wanted to go shanghai. but maybe after this… even the mega shopping scene.. πŸ™‚

I love Shanghai! I’m not sure if you’re a nightclub sort of girl, but if you get the chance, check out Dragon Club in the old French Concession – it’s hidden away in an old house and is not apparent from the outside. I think it may be members only but I’m sure you’ll charm your way in quite easily! Go around 3am for the best experience…it’s more of an after-hours club. Think it stays open till about 9 or 10am.

Ahhh very good to know! we probably can’t go this trip ‘cos it’s too packed, but I’m def keeping that one in mind πŸ˜‰

i love Shanghai! I was there for a month last year and I’ve always said it is a city I could work and live in. I love how it has the classic old parts but also the new shiny modern areas. You should see Pudong, if you haven’t already – the streets there are wider and cleaner. Have fun exploring and all the best!! =)

You said it! The vibrancy is just amazing.. and yeah, Pudong is brilliant, very impressive how they built it all up in just 18 years :-O

wow the hotel and the view are breathtaking!
hehe i love their attention to detail with the comb and toothbrush – usually i forget my toothbrush and have to go buy a new one πŸ™

Anything different at Maccas?? I’ve only been to the ones in Australia – not even Japan

The Maccas is similar but they have some asian burgers I think.. was in Chinese so we couldn’t tell πŸ™ The fries aren’t as good as the Aussie fries though!

all expense paid!!! @_@ so exciting!
to consider moving to Shanghai willing, you are brave!
have a couple of friends living in Shanghai. it will be an adventure!
have fun!

Ohhh.. I’ve been in Shanghai 3 years ago, its absolutely European city and HK also! Very Nice in hi-tech style I think.. MC Donalds we even drank beer ;)) here in Russia it is forbidden!

Nice, I didn’t know your trip was all expenses paid. You should wait to go home before you blog about your trip b/c $30/day for internet is insane (even though it is an essential)

Yeah it def is since the company is sending us up. I do need the internet for work, eBay’s not paying $30/day just for me to blog πŸ˜‰
