Had some friends over for dinner for a (mini) engagement celebration.. decided to make some Mushroom
Mushroom & Truffle Risotto, with a glass of Pinot Noir
Us π
Wonderful chocolate gateau from the French patisserie – but of course!
Random bits of dessert. We got the nougat from Hamilton Island – it is awesome!!
The Frenchies π
We get in on the action
Even better action π
Over the weekend, Chris and I did the 10km Camp Quality charity run. Or at least we tried, but failed miserably π First of all, it was after a week’s worth of partying and very very very late nights.. so getting up before 6am(!) was just brutal. On top of that, it was dreary, drizzling, really windy, and super super cold!! It was like winter came out in full-force π Feeling none-too-inspired, we still dragged ourselves there and started running.
Unfortunately, my knee’s been acting up in the past few weeks and was really sore straightaway, and gave up and caved in (bloody painful!!!!!) around the 4km mark. Pathetic, huh? I tried to continue running but Chris insisted we stop so we ended up walking back to the main meeting area, tail between our legs. Was so very sad that we had to give up, and so frustrating that we made such an effort with the weather and didn’t even feel one bit exercised! π
Goodies to start you off
All ready
It was coooold! Check out the guy behind me in gloves π
*pant pant*
So since we obviously fail at being fit & healthy, we reverted back to doing what we do best – cooking and eating π Made a simple Beef Stroganoff for dinner and Chris made garlic bread with his home-made garlic butter – it’s absolutely divine!! No recipe because I basically just threw everything together in the saucepan. It did turn out delish though π
Softening the onions
Chris wearing my apron (*lol*), preparing the garlic bread
Bubbling away
Add in a dash (or in our case, almost the whole carton) of sour cream…
Beef Stroganoff with Garlic Bread
Closeup of Chris’ homemade garlic bread, mmmm
Our little romantic dinner, just the two of us π
You exercise now! :O
Well.. we TRY to, but whether or not we actually succeed is to be debated π
It’s about about the TRY π
Take first “about,” replace with “all.”
I LOVE risotto!! and beef stroganoff!!! my boyfriend’s dad makes really good beef stroganoff!! mm
Ohhh lucky duck, you get good homemade stroganoff on tap, hehe. We have to do ours ourselves, boooo π
mmmmm mmmmmmmmm I LOVE stroganoff!
Me too! Awesome comfort food in winter, esp since it’s so awful now π
I sometimes forget we’re opposites! It’s hot hot hot here!
Be careful with your knee. My boyfriend had once a serious knee problem and he never let the orthopaedist checked and now he isn’t able anymore to go jogging, karate, etc.
Truffle..wow, I love them but I never cook with truffles as they’re not affordable π
I’ve actually been to the physio/doctor for quite a few months about a year or two ago so I do those exercises they taught me to strengthen the knee, but it’ll never completely heal cos once a weak knee, always a weak knee! π
If you have Tetsuya’s truffles near you in a supermarket you can get it! It’s $25 for a jar of crushed truffles and much more affordable, that’s what I use π

Did you use truffles or truffle oil in the risotto? I imagine using truffles would cost a lot!!!
The truffles, basically the Tetsuya jar one that you guys also have! Haven’t tried just the oil but I wanna get that and drizzle it on fries.. mmmm….

I like that after all the time that you’ve been together, you still cook together.
If only we had more time.. we’d cook together almost every night. Unfortunately we really only do once a week π
Chris is looking spiffier nowadays! Perhaps it’s all that exercise!
Heheh that’s cos he’s a very sexy man!!! π
