FOOD, Friends, Parties, Uncategorized CHEESE FONDUE PARTY 3 March 2008

There’s little else that tops a Cheese Fondue party…. an unadulterated, no-holds-barred, pig out fest with like-minded greedy people πŸ˜‰ Otherwise, uhh, known as my friends. and were our lovely hosts, and were trying out their new fondue set for the first time…. complete with *ahem* tea lights that they thought were sufficient for a massive deluxe fondue set like theirs (ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!)

Chris and I rocked up REALLY early because the last time we went over, we were ~2 hours late *shamefaced*, and so were determined to show up early this time to help out. That said, we didn’t really help out in the end… unless you call lounging around and playing Wii/Xbox “helping out”? πŸ˜› Aaaaannnyyyywaaayyy, the cheese fondue turned out awesome-ly! It helps having French friends who know how to do a fondue properly, down to the right kinds of cheeses, etc. So all we had to do was to supply the wine – too easy. We ate. And ate. And ate some more. Was madness, and in the end, we ate about 1.5kg of cheese between us and masses of baguette chunks. And also some very very tasty ham-off-the-bone and peppered beef. Ooh la la!

Staggered home late, holding our bellies, moaning that we’d “eaten too much” – yet again! But hey, the 10,000 calories we ate each was well worth it πŸ˜‰

I have home-envy…

Chopping up the cheese….

…all 2 kg worth

Wheee!

Contemplating the meaning of life.

Chilling out

Bored. WHERE’S MY CHEESE?!

Heating it up on the stove first

Oh maaaan…

Cold meats platter. I loved the ham!

I loved the cheese too!

READY. GET SET.

Oh. Wait… Chris wants to pick my nose first…

OKAY. GO!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m really not a fan of scary/unflattering close-ups of my face…

Mmmmmm…. *swoons*

Okay. Less cute.

DELICIOUS.

Highly amused by this photo I took πŸ˜‰

After some Toblerone and Blood Orange sorbet, we crashed on the couch…

Oooh yummy!!! I love cheese fondue πŸ™‚ And fondue in general. I have a chocolate fondue set, it’s just so fun as well!

I also want to know what sort of cheese you used! I am a HUGE fan of cheese.

what cheeses did you use? Our last fondue party, the cheese were awful!! It came in the fondue pack, not original like yours πŸ˜›

and the apartment is so lovely… where is that located?

Oh man. Cheese is my weakness, fondue especially!!! Can you let us know what sorts of cheeses were used? Mmmm!!! I love your friends flat, it’s got such a lovely view and glass windows all around, I LOVE THAT!!! I can’t wait till my flat is done being built…hopefully soon!!!

Well pardon us Dr Bev if we didn’t know the melting temperature threshold of the combination of three types of swiss in a cast iron german made pot, with a westerly breeze blowing outside and internal ambient air temperature of 23 degrees celsius whilst somewhere in the world a person is rubbing his tummy and patting his head at the same time! All we knew was that choc fondue pots have tea lights under them, it’s an valid assumption I tells ya!!!

And you forgot to mention that YOU were the one happily browsing Dudetube all by your lonesome, grinning like a Cheshire cat in the meantime and being ignored by all the guys!

Ahhh at least it amused us for a few seconds there πŸ˜‰

I know all you guys ran home and promptly looked it up. It’s okay, you can trust Auntie Bev..

Ok, I’ll admit the tea lights thing was a ditzy moment, but you didn’t have to announce it to everyone! :p And the greedy person is the one who wanted a chocolate fondue for dessert after the cheese fondue!

it was hilaaaarious though πŸ˜‰ I actually saw your tea lights when we first came in, but I thought you were just gonna light candles all round the house for “mood lighting” or something, ROFL

I remember last year, you posted about the first time you had cheese fondue. Since that time, I’ve bought my own little fondue pot but have yet to use it. After reading this post, I think it’s time for me to open up the box and start using it. Besides the usual bread, any suggestions on other things to dip into the gooey cheese? I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. *^^*

Yes! That was around Sep I think last year…

Apparently some people dip in asparagus but I’m def a fan of just the baguette!
