Birthdays, FOOD, Food reviews, Friends, Uncategorized BIRTHDAY LUNCH @ SUMMIT 4 November 2007

Summit Restaurant
Level 47, Australia Square
264 George Street, NSW 2000
$$$$$

Situated on the 47th floor and with a revolving floor, Summit offers 360 degree panoramic views of Sydney city. It was selected for yet another birthday lunch, with a different team at work (many of us are October babies at work).. a very nice way to spend a Monday afternoon kicking off the week πŸ™‚

We had the Good Food Month set menu of Seared Ocean Trout, fetta and spinach “rotolo”, tomato passata, crushed sweet herb pesto. It was spectacular – very fresh, perfectly plump fish with a delicious salsa and pesto flavour to compliment the soft sweetness of the trout. It was a sizable chunk which was sufficient for lunch, though we did sucuumb to the upsell of some bread and also desserts. The wine of choice was a 2005 Brown Brothers Viognier, very subtle and slightly sweet, mmm.

Service was thoughtful and polite, no complaints at all. We were fortunate that the skies were perfectly blue and sunny, which meant an awesome and impressive view of all of Sydney. Makes for a lovely birthday celebration… πŸ™‚

That’s beautiful! I think you have convinced me to move to Sydney now πŸ˜›

(When I read the title of this post, I thought ‘wow, this is one long birthday celebration you have going on!’ Hehe)

Summit is one of our favourite restaurants. I love the bread dipped in olive oil and dukkah. You have to go there for dinner with Chris, their raw fish entree and pork belly main are awesome! And this is coming from me who doesn’t usually order pork in a restaurant.

It’s different, the Summit one has crackling on top and is served with some sort of apple marmalade that goes extremely well with the pork whereas the Galileo is more Asian inspired?
