Marina Square Food Court
Singapore
$—-

I love Marina Square Shopping Centre’s new food court! Well, I don’t actually think it’s that new.. but it’s pretty new to me πŸ˜‰ A whole myriad of stalls are on display, more than you can shake a finger at, all offering different goodies. We ended up ordering almost everything from the same stall though, since Mum and Dad said that stall was the best! I forgot the name, but it’s the one selling local food and apparently they have “the best popiah and meesiam”.

Very true.

The Popiah came with delectable little crispy bits, and it was rolled small and tight so I could pop each slice into my mouth. I hate it the regular-sized popiah that won’t fit, so you have to take half a bite and all the filling falls out! Arghhhh. Anyway, the skin was really light and slightly chewy and moist, and the ingredients were so satisfying. It trumps the previous popiah I had and I agree it’s the best in Singapore πŸ˜›

The Mee Siam was delicious too. Super tasty, it had just the right amount of sour tamarind/lime juice and came with a generous portion of bee hoon (ie. noodles). The sad thing I noted was that it was a vegetarian dish – it could have done well with a few prawns in there! Also had some of the Mee Rebus, which came in a lovely thick gravy (but could’ve been more!) and was really tasty without being too salty.

Lunch was capped off with some Rojak sorta dish. It’s not actually Rojak, it just had Yiu Tiao (ie. Deep fried dough) instead of veg and such. But it had the same dark sauce and scattering of crushed peanuts as Rojak does. Anyway, I wasn’t impressed with this dish. I don’t like that black sauce and I find it strange eating peanuts with my yiu tiao! I didn’t say no to Banana Caramel Waffles at Killiney Kopitiam though πŸ˜›

The next time u are back in marina sq’s foodcourt, try their roasted duck store. It often has a long queue. I’m not a duck meat or char siew (roasted pork) lover.. but when i ate it, i knew i will be back for more! πŸ™‚

the weather is kinda holding up, whew… at least it makes it nice and cool!

hi bev

that’s actually rojak too, and is quite common. there’re 2 kinds of rojak in sg – the indian kind (with tofu, veg, potato balls, etc) and the chinese (?) one, with dark sauce, youtiao and peanuts.

Ohhh this must’ve been the Chinese kind then – they use the same dark sauce though, I think? My parents like it but not me πŸ˜‰
