Arthur’s Pizza is as “no frills” as it gets, with a cramped interior longing for a new coat of paint and new non-wobbly chairs. Catering for the Uni crowd though, all it really needs is to provide good cheap food and it’ll be a winner. Unfortunately, I was dismayed to see the prices all hiked up by $2. May not seem like that big of a deal, but it’s just the principle of it that annoys! Fortunately, we scored an outdoor table, which was lovely as there were 7-8 of us there for a College reunion.
We ordered 3 large pizzas:
Australian – my favourite because it comes chockers with meat and an egg cracked on top before being cooked
Supreme – nice, but had to pick the pineapple *shudders* off it
Vegetarian – didn’t have any as it defeats the purpose of pigging out on pizza!
Arthur’s Pizza was one of my favourite haunts when I lived in College. I always swore up-and-down that it had the best pizza ever. But $2 price rise aside, I can’t figure out if the quality has gone down, or my expectations have gone up after eating lots of gourmet pizzas since. I think it’s more likely the former. I remember the crust being a bit more crisp 2 years ago.. and less soggy. And I found the pizzas all on the salty side, whereas I never noticed that before. They were all still SO satisfying and come laden with ingredients and cheese, so at least I was happy. I also love how the ingredients go allll the way to the edge of the crust – I get grumpy with pizzas that have a dollop of ingredients right in the middle and tonnnns of crust.
Also had a Caesar Salad which was delicious. It came weighed down with cheese, bacon and croutons – but the cheese was so finely sliced, and the bacon was so crisp that I enjoyed it all :)~

Sugarplum Cafe & Ice Cream Bar

We adjourned afterwards for some dessert at Sugarplum, with a name sweet enough to make me want to eat there π After taste-testing just about every flavour (thanks to the patient guy behind the counter), I finally decided on the Strawberry Swirl. I liked it because it came thick with strawberry-flavour and wasn’t sour at all, it was yummilicious! Chris selected the Mint Choc Chip which I thought looked really uninteresting, hah.

That must be Roslyn? Cool!
Yeees, I didn’t know you knew her too!
What a cute dog. Sugarplum reminds me of the Coldstone Creamery restaurants here, they make the best Cake Batter ice cream! π
Mmm I like Coldstone too, they had a store in California and I always pop in when I’m in CA π

Hi Beverly,
I just looked at the menu card on Sugarplum’s site and I find their policy about “sharing a sundae for max. 2 persons otherwise you will be charged for 5 bucks” quite interesting.
Is such a thing very common in Australia?
Whoa i never knew that.. it’s DEF not common in Australia as it’s extremely rude and really crap! Frankly, it makes me purposely want to go and order a sundae, then bring 4 friends to share it, IN FRONT OF THEM π
They wont’ be able to do anything as you pay first then eat.. ugh, hate stupid places!
That is so cool that you had a college reunion and that you guys still keep in touch.
We hadn’t had one in ages so it was good! But we also had that engagement party last week so it was like 2 reunions in 2 weekends π
now I feel like eating pizza.. haha :p
i love really good pizza.. wish they were healthier though π
Strange caption but the dog pic kinda scares me. Anyway, I wish SG pizza are like that. Thin crust but generous on the meats and cheese..
It was such an ugly dog.. which made it so endearing! But Chris wouldn’t let me cuddle it :X
