Since both our mums are overseas (Singapore and Indonesia), Chris and I celebrated by doing the Mother’s Day Breast Cancer charity run instead. It was painful getting up in the morning since I didn’t sleep till almost 2am the night before, because of the Jelly Baby charity ball I attend the night before. Was really exhausted and bleary-eyed but I was determined to do the run!
It was a ton of fun. Lots of people there and the weather was cold – perfect running weather. Everyone was in a cheery mood and the view as we jogged by the water was breathtaking. It was 4km all up, which is probably nothing for most people, but a LOT for chris and I. We actually had to train for the event *lol*. I’m happy to say we pretty much ran the whole way! We did stop running twice after going up a hill, but only walked for about a minute before we soldiered on again 😛
Felt a bit tender afterwards, but nothing much different from when I jog home. We timed in at around 25 mins (exact times being to be released), which is only OK, I’m not particuarly proud about it. The slow start with all the people frustrated me ‘cos it slowed us down! I’d like to clock in at under 20mins…
I’m also happy to report that $731.00 worth of donations were made for me! It’s quite a good feeling having so much support for my 1st run, especially because it’s for charity. I’m honoured to run for a good cause and I’m already researching to see when I can do my next run 😛
All pumped up. I wore my eBay gear, I figured our company
needed some representation at the run!
Chris wore his Microsoft tshirt too, but you can’t see it in this pic
Lots of fun stuff and events were going on
It was sloooow getting started. We wasted precious minutes here!
View of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge
The city and Centrepoint Tower
Lots of complimentary apples and mandarins and water.. the fruit was terrific
Sweaty and satisfied after our run. Go us!
Chris took this really stupid-looking photo of me, holding up my medal 😛
A hearty lunch later that day – seafood/avocado/mushrooms crepe
