The $368 offer’s gone but I think the $500+/hotel deal might still be on.. but that’s IF you can get through!

Re: Hello

Re: Hello

My mum actually told me about it, she read about it on the news and I called the travel agent here and they gave me the direct SIA offer number.. I’m pretty sure the offer’s over now ‘cos of the unbelievable demand – they had to install new phone lines and everythning!

It’s just a tight time schedule ‘cos they take a few weeks to process it and it NEEDS to be done by the time my student visa runs out.. so the earlier I apply, the better!

Can you get someone to send the information for you? Sign all the forms and what not then get Chris to collect your graduation results and mail them in!

Yeah but it means i have to send stuff to Australia for Chris to mail and I sitll need to go in and collect my PR when it’s awarded.. takes longer basically!

Unlikely πŸ™ It really sucks ‘cos I was going to meet up with a whole heap of friends back in SG.. and eat and go shopping and all that, and now I can’t πŸ™ But my parents should be able to come here so hopefully they can!

Shinpai shinai

Don’t worry; my sister has a full-time job, and she still manages to squeeze in one vacation after another! Seems like she’s going on one every other week…hehehe…. As long as your employer isn’t a total jerk, he or she should understand.

Re: Shinpai shinai

Wow, she’s lucky! I’m not sure if I can just flit off on holidays in my first year on a job.. even if I can I’m not sure if it’ll give people a bad impression :T But hopefully I can, just a week or so around Christmas is ok with me!

Definitely going back to SG, but going to work here for a few years first.. just to get work experience overseas and also I heard the SG job market is really bad atm πŸ™ I think I’d prefer working in SG though ‘cos the highest tax bracket here is 48% of your income! :O

Yeah.. the Aussie gov likes draining everyone’s earnings πŸ˜›

I think in Singapore it’s only about 25% or something!

yeah, 20 to 25% or something like that.. but well, you guys earn more in Australia, so I guess its evened out! ;p

Eh.. actually office jobs in Australia get the same wage if not less than in SG :T But jobs like waitressing, retail, casual jobs, etc pay a LOT more than in SG!

Isn’t S’pore Airlines having a promotion right now (‘cos of SARS I think)? My parents will just have to pay $800 each to fly here. That’s half the price of the tickets you’d normally get compared to M’sia, so it’s pretty cheap. Anyway, I miss my parents too – haven’t seen them since last May. And I haven’t been home home for 2 years plus. Miss all my doggies :(((

Yep… that’s why I was calling, along with the rest of Australia ;(

Ack! I don’t want to be away for 2 years, how do you do it? I miss all my relatives and friends and most of all, the wonderful food :)~

FOODIES!!! Haha, yea, I guess that’s one thing I really do miss…Western food here can never make up for it, or even the Westernised Chinese cuisine…bleach…
-labyrinth_enigma

I looove the food here, but being a student I can’t afford to eat out and eat at all the nice places – so all I do is cook at home.. I never get to eat yummy food here :T I actually really like Westernized Chinese food, but yeah, after a year of it it gets kinda boring πŸ˜›

ugh wouldn’t it be so much easier if everything could just fall into place and work out? hm my graduation is coming soon too but i’m not looking forward to it. i haven’t really done all that i couldve and shuoldve..anyway, that’s another topic. read that you’re very close to your parents–and those little letters you used to write..so cute!

anyway, when you go back to SG i hope you have a fun time. I just emailed you know who to hassle about money now esp because her username is deleted. (probably from the neg and neutral feedback you gave her, haha.) basically i told her what you told me to tell her–if i dont receive money, action will be taken..im a student, and i really need money, etc. πŸ™‚

I *wish* everything would just land on my lap and be sorted out! I kinda wish I worked harder at Uni though, but oh well, too late :X

Hope you get your money back.. it’s such poor form for a student to cheat another student πŸ™

urrghh i so wanna go back too especially with the cheap air tickets. but i cant coz i’m gonna be visiting my parents first in NZ so i wont have time to go back to singapore. will have to stay here till my PR gets approved.

hey when does your student visa expires? if it expires in end july then once you get your results you better apply for a bridging visa right away else you will be illegal here once your visa expires.

Hopefully your PR will get approved soon.. you’ve done everything so all you have to do is wait, right?

My current visa expires 31 Aug and my results come out 17 July.. so I’m going to send my results off to ACS for their statement, and at the same time do doctor’s checks and police checks.. and then go to Immigration and chuck everything at them πŸ˜›

yeah but until you send in your application to DIMIA, you wont be granted a bridging visa. and since you won’t be able to send in your application till at least 5, 6 weeks after you get your results (estimating that’s how long ACS takes to get back to you) you won’t be able to stay in Australia legally once your visa expires. so i’m thinking you might need to get a visa extension or something. go check it out or have you worked something out already?

I *think* I should be ok.. I have 1.5 months for ACS to get back to me, and the instant they do I’ll go to immigration and apply and that’s when they give me my temp one.. If ACS takes awhile and my visa only has 1-2 weeks left, I’ll just go to Immigration and explain my situation and see what they advice… geez, it’s such a headache ;(

oops i think you might be alright. just read again that your visa expires in end august. will be a huge rush though, hopefully ACS wont take too long with your assessment!

Yep, no kidding. Called from 12-5pm repeatedly, just pressing REDIAL over and over and over again. I think I’m the only sucker that called so many times and still never got through.
