reformat

I have a program called PQDI, which is a drive image manager. So what I do is reformat c: then install windows, drivers and generally get everything setup the way I like it. Then I use PQDI to create an image of c:. Then whenever it starts running rough, because of installing and uninstalling to many programs. I just format c:, then run PQDI and restore image. Takes just minutes rather than hours. cheers

Re: reformat

Ooooh that sounds awesome! ‘cos every time I format my computer I want certain programs like Trillian, Microsoft Office, PSP, etc. so this one will just pop all the programs back on when I format, right? Do you know how much space it needs to capture the C drive image? I’m off to see if I can find it online!

Re: reformat

I use a similar program too, called Norton Ghost to make an image of my C drive and save that onto my D drive. Then after I reformat C drive I can just restore the image file and everything will be as before. The image file is pretty big though, btw 1 to 2GB in size depending on how much stuff you’ve installed. But since computers nowadays have like 30,40 GB of HD, it doesnt really matter and its really so convenient, especially for me coz I reformat my C drive at least once a year. Also its useful when your computer crashes due to conflicts, viruses etc. coz then you only have to restore the last image you’ve saved and not even have to completely reformat. πŸ™‚
