Hiya Bev,

I must say..I’ve been pretty mean sometimes on your blog…but I am quite impressed as well with this CSIRO gig….and also with how you always keep so upbeat (well…your blog at least!)with everything.

Regards,

Eh.. mean is bad *lol*
I assume you’re in Australia? ‘Cos no one in the states knows about CSIRO, I think it’s just an Aussie thing. I was actually really sulky about having to turn down the Microsoft internship, thanks to the government, so this definitely made me feel better! But I start next week and I’m starting to panic – I’m worried that my project (Impact of Spatio-Temporal Resolution on video quality) will be too hard. I’m not super smart, and I’ll die I have to admit to my supervisor that I don’t know what the heck is going on! Argh. Crossing my fingers and hoping it’ll be dead easy..

In Australia?.,…..man….i live in Sydney…….you should feel lucky I’m not the stalking type! hehe….oh..wouldnt worry about ppl in the US not knowing about CSIRO…probably half of Australia doesnt really know about it either…and they certainly dont know where it is.

I wonder what the environment will be like? I heard from someone who knew a senior administrator in the CSIRO that it was difficult because almost everyone had a PhD, so they looked down on him a lot…..hehe….dunno..maybe they wont have any egos πŸ™‚

Good grief, if they looked down on your friend, they’d look so far down on me they’d be looking at the middle of the earth πŸ˜‰ I don’t have a PhD, let alone a degree! The people I’m working with seem really nice though.. quite unaffected and casual, so hopefully they don’t turn into monsters once I start. Well, at least it’ll be an interesting experience!

Ahhhh… Bev,you must be feeling sooooo relaxed now that exams are over:) My favourite part was to clean up all the books after exams.. like a hot relaxing bath:)
Where’s the place you’re going to BTW. Is it far?
Enjoy yourself and take care:)

I am!! Had fun at the city and am now going crazy making these cute little blinkies, hehe..

Oh Macquarie is a bit less than an hour from here, by 2 buses. But I’m going to live there since CSIRO is there so I won’t need to travel back and forth..

Go CSIRO!

Hey Bev! Congratulations on getting the CSIRO gig – I’ve got a friend who gets absolutely *supreme* marks and he didn’t get an interview… so what you did is no mini-feat! It’ll be fun to leave familiar surroundings for a while too… where’s Macquarie? It sounds like a nice beach-y place…

Hope it all goes well!

Damian

Re: Go CSIRO!

Thanks! I didn’t expect it at all either.. so it was a really nice surprise πŸ™‚ Err.. hopefully the project won’t be too hard though, can you imagine how embarassing it’ll be to say “Hey, I don’t think I can do this after all, sorry”? Eek!!

Macquarie is north shore area.. not really near the beach but it has a killer shopping centre right next to CSIRO, does that count? πŸ˜›
