There was a show about Deepak Chopra (A spiritualist, personal developoment specialist used by Madonna and the like)on TV the other day, and he quoted, that what you look for in your soulmates are, those qualities which you don’t have, and wished to have (subconciously).
A soul is how a person you are, the things do, the things you like doing, the people you’ve met.

very, very true.
very, very true.
how true that is…
I totally think it’s true. I know that my boyfriend isn’t perfect, and he knows that i’m not perfect either. But to me, he just wouldn’t be the same person without his inperfections. I think i’ve come to love him, not despite his imperfections, but because of them. And he feels the same way about me. :o)
Re: how true that is…
Thet reason I ask is ‘cos if we admit that the person we were *first* attracted to wasn’t perfect.. well, would we have admitted that in the first place? Most people say “Oooh I found the PERFECT guy” or “This girl is PERFECT” when they first start going out. So if you say that, does that mean you were lying.. since you can later admit that it was only later, after you grow in your love, that you become perfect in each other’s eyes?
I think it’s a difficult question/quote really..!
Re: how true that is…
Well Bev, I think nobody’s perfect, and we all know that. Let me tell you a bit about my story. I have someone special, I love him and he loves me too. He seems so perfect, he’s good looking, very smart, very nice, very mature, romantic, caring, loving, rich, you name it, he got it. But as I said before, nobody’s perfect, and of course he’s not an exception. I know his flaws, things that make him imperfect, but I still love him nevertheless. I love him with all his flaws, with all his problems, I love him for who he is, I love him for everything he is. So I guess that quote is true. That’s why sometimes you see a gorgeous guy going out with an “average” girl, or vice versa, and people wonder why the gorgeous guy/girl could be head over heels with the “average” girl/guy. It’s because they can see an imperfect person perfectly. Don’t u think?
Re: how true that is…
Actually.. was talking about this to my boyfriend, and we decided that when you *first* start going out, you do think the other person is perfect or near-perfect. But then, after awhile, you learn about their idiosyncracies and flaws. But then you get over them and grow together, and it’s actually those little things that make that person unique and special, and you feel lucky to know about that little bit about them that no one else does. I think that’s really true..
It’s wonderful you found your perfect guy though, he sounds like a keeper π
Re: how true that is…
btw, saying “ohh he’s so perfect” or “ohhh she’s perfect” when 2 ppl first started going out doesn’t necessarily means that he/she was lying, i suppose everyone knows that nobody’s perfect in this world, it’s just that when they said that, they prolly hadn’t known about their partner well enough to know their flaws. there are ppl in this world that are close to perfection, sometimes their flaws are invisible at first, but you’ll find out what they are sooner or later. nobody’s perfect, trust me.
and you’re right, after two people grow in love, they become more and more perfect in each other’s eyes. they become more and more perfect, because u love them. have u ever heard this song called “beautiful in my eyes” by joshua kadison? it’s a good song, go and find the lyrics π
In the end they’re still perfect to us but… what makes a person perfect/imperfect? and do we love because the one is perfect or is the one perfect so we love?
I wouldn’t know how ‘true’ it would be since I have never had a boyfriend or anything, but I do wish to believe it’s true. I mean, I’d hope someone would see my imperfections, accept them, and love me anyways. π I’d do the same for them. π
