Family, Uncategorized VISITING PARENTS 31 July 2010

Mum and Dad fly into Shanghai tonight.. and then my aunt and uncle shortly afterwards πŸ™‚

They’ll be helping to house-sit and ferret-sit for us since we’re gone for…… *DRUMROLL*……… 4 weeks to Europe!!!! SQUEEEE!!!!

We leave next week, and we’ll be hitting:

Paris, France
Avignon, France
Marseilles, France
Casis, France
Barcelona, Spain
Moscow, Russia
St Petersburg, Russia

We’ve been planning this epic trip ever since we got married last year. Specifically, we always knew we’d be celebrating our 1st year wedding anniversary (8 August… next week!) in Paris. And so ages back we booked our flights, and in the past month we’ve pieced together our itinerary – a massive headache since we’re going to so many places and specifically want to go to all the yummiest restaurants. Because let’s face it, it really is a culinary journey in Europe, more than anything else πŸ˜‰

To say we’re excited about our month-long holiday is a total understatement πŸ˜€ WE CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!!!!!

But first, we get a fun few days with Mum and Dad in Shanghai’s summer. It will be nice to see them again πŸ™‚

YAY happy with this result, since fries are my #1 favourite food πŸ˜€

You Are French Fries

You are friendly and easygoing. People can’t help but like you!
You are always welcome wherever you go, and people crave you more than they’d like to admit.

You are extremely fun loving. You try not to think about responsibilities whenever possible.
You are rich in personality and spirit. You have a lot to offer, but you never let it go to your head.

PS. Also wanted to show off my 2 new LJ icons that I adore πŸ˜›

congrats & have fun! i’ve only been to moscow and st. petersburg out of your list, but you are gonna have fun! i hope you like museums and arts. amazing stuff there!!!

Ooo nice, if you have any tips on where to go/what to eat in those 2 places please do let me know! i’ve never been to Russia, so it’ll be so interesting..

i was on a tour group from singapore so we didn’t eat a lot of good food – i can’t help you there πŸ™ turns out a buddhist nun came with us and we couldn’t eat beef…. so no beef stroganoff or anything! we ate at the same chinese restaurant twice!

i would definitely check out the winter and summer palaces. you can spend a lot of time in there. see the faberge eggs! we also went around the brown (circle) line in the metro system, & i really like the church of spilt blood (pretty). you’re going around the time i did and it was actually quite warm then.
hope that helps!

Yikes can’t believe just one person could restrict the entire group! Blehh I’d be annoyed too :X

I’m glad Moscow will be warm.. Chris went there at Christmas 2 years ago and he said it was really awful and so cold!

Hi Beverly, we’ll also be in Paris for 3 days from 13th August. I have Creperie Bretonne, L’Escargot Montorqueil, and L’As du Falafel on my list. I will greet you, if I happen to see you.

I’m assuming it’s Paris not Shanghai? πŸ˜› Thanks for the tip!

Chris tried to book Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower but it was all booked out *cries*

You’ll love France and Barcelona, especially the shopping in Paris!! Personally I am not a fan of St. Petersburg, but it could be due to the hormones ;p

Have fun babe! And a very happy anniversary!

I’m worried about the shopping… or rather, my bank account LOL!!

Russia we’re going to specifically cos Chris’ mum is there – we’re going to visit her. Otherwise ya, I agree, we wouldn’t go (Chris has been and said it was dull as hell)

I live in SPb and I love it, but it’s definitely a city that is completely different if you’re a tourist vs a resident, and there aren’t really good restaurants or shopping that you can’t find elsewhere for much, much cheaper. But when you live here, it’s great. πŸ™‚ It’s very bohemian, and has great theater/ballet/opera, and you can have a lot of fun on very little money. People who are ambitious and business-oriented go to Moscow; people who want to live life come here. As a tourist though, it’s not very exciting unless you’re really into Russian history, although the center of the city is beautiful.

Moscow is better in terms of shopping and dining, but I don’t like the atmosphere of the city and again, things are cheaper elsewhere.

OMG you lucky thing! Don’t forget to take lots of piccies of all your shopping and of course the FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a fab time and happy anniversary! πŸ™‚

Wow… say hello to Balenciaga, LV, Loewe and Hermes!

Have a great time in Europe and come back show us lots of lovely pictures pls!

Time really goes by fast huh… It seem just recently that I was reading about your wedding/photoshots etc… haha.. been a wonderful 1st year isn’t it ? πŸ˜€

I may have to pick something up at Loewe since it’s from Spain πŸ˜› And Hermes since it’s from France, haha!

Yeah time really flies… I’m excited we’re celebrating our 1st year already πŸ™‚

Awesome! Have a great trip. There are lots of great restaurants in Marais area in Paris. If you happen to pass by there, check them out;.

We’re actually staying in Le Marais πŸ˜‰ We have a huuuge list of places to eat at, I have no idea how we’ll stuff it all in, LOL!

Sounds amazing! I can’t wait to read all about your adventures! I’m sure the food will be amazing, and the shopping too … Louis Vuitton! ; )

Happy 1st Anniversary! ^_____^
