Chris, Engagement, HOLIDAYS, Uncategorized, Whitsundays HAMILTON ISLAND @ WHITSUNDAYS – where it all started… 10 June 2008

So.

I’m going to start right at the beginning……..

Here I was, on Friday morning last week, happily thinking that I was off on a surprise holiday at The Whitsundays. Chris cited the reason that I “needed de-stressing” as I’ve been quite frazzled with work, so he insisted we needed to have a little holiday away from it all.

“How nice!”, I thought, delighted that he was so thoughtful. Better yet, it’s been absolutely crap weather in Sydney so I was excited about sun, surf and sea at the Whitsundays.

When talking to Mum and Dad online, they said “Oh remember to bring some pretty dresses” and Chris also said the same thing to me, and all I thought was that we would have some nice beach-side dinners, which would of course warrant some nice clothes. No biggie, so I brought my long flowy Alannah Hill dress.

So we boarded the plane and thus our adventure began……..

Our plane

Bye Sydney!

Fluffy marshmallow clouds

Totally random, but I brought my super-cute custom-made bag purchased on Etsy

Hellooooooooooo Hamilton Island, beachside paradise!

So we got off the plane and there was the hotel shuttle waiting for us. We were first there because we just had a small carry-on bag each, whereas everyone else brought big luggage bags for some ridiculous reason – I mean, it’s not like you’re wearing much clothes on a tropical resort, so what’s with the huge bags?!?! Anyway, they asked us to put our bags in a wagon-thing that the shuttle bus dragged along. No problem, we popped our bags in there.

The wagon was still open, since we had to wait for the other people to come and put their bags in. Chris started looking a bit nervous and didn’t want to get into the bus and sit and wait, but rather kept darting to the back to check on our bags sitting in the wagon. “How thoughtful!”, I admired. Usually it’s me sweating the small stuff.

And then, finally everyone was bundled into the shuttle, and off we went!

We got to the Reef View Hotel and were promptly checked in. Our room was stunning – really large with a massive bathroom split into sections, and the BALCONY. Oh!! It had big glass doors that opened out to a view right over the beach and ocean. The sun streamed through in the morning and we could hear the waves crashing at night.

Plus, it was this very balcony that changed our lives forever πŸ™‚

Going up the hotel lift to our room

Bringing nature right to you πŸ˜‰

Lovely bright room

We both like πŸ™‚

The shower and sink

In another section, the bathtub and another sink

The toiletries were awesome, which surprised me as I never have much luck with hotel toiletries

We were standing at almost this exact spot, on our last night πŸ™‚

Hurray for Hamilton Island!

Just sorting all thru the pics and posting as quickly as possible πŸ˜›
And thanks hee, I love that balcony pic!

Does Part 2 go something like:

And as Chris knelt upon a bended knee, King Kong reared up out of the forest of green below, surprising everyone, and plucked Chris from the balcony in a single big hairy paw. The sounds of his yelps of surprised agony as the 8th wonder of the world had his way with him ensured that poor Chris was never the same again on his return. However he soldiered on and completed his proposal. And I said yes.

Sweetness.

Quick post the rest of the story! I’m dying to know how he proposed! Also, totally random too but your bag from Etsy is too too cute!

It’s a tunic from Witchery and it’s more of a top to wear over jeans or leggings.. but on a tropical island, I wear it as a dress thrown over a bikini!

Gorgeous place and photos. I love the view from the room =)
Glad that you two had a good time there.

thanks for sharing.
