We felt like something quick, easy and tasty for brunch. What easier meal to make than Ham, Cheese & Tomato Toasties?? Chris was delighted, saying it made him reminsce about his childhood days, when they would often make this at home. For me, there was no reminscing, since I don’t think my family has EVER made this in my life, *lol*! But I love ’em and instead, I reminsced about my University days when we were ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS STARVING and at 2am, would need to run downstairs to the kitchen and whip up a Toastie or 3 to scoff down. Ahhh.. the good ol’ days when I could eat like a complete nutjob and still remain wonderfully lithe and fat-free *sighhhh* Since we are no longer spritely, thin, young things… we had to limit ourselves to 2 toasties each 🙁 Boohiss!
Basic, every day ingredients
Popped onto some fresh bread (buttered on the outside so it browns) and
a sprinkle of cheese and cracked black pepper
TA DAAA! Warm, cheesy goodness. Oh yummmmmm…..
Well, mango’s my favourite fruit, so no complaints!

A plus of having your own place – being able to make food like toasties!!!
Now that I’m back home and can eat all the great things we have in Oz (although Canberra is NOT the best eating place in Australia.. by far!) I miss Chinese food! :o(
AU food is gooood , but it’s just so $$, doh!!
Yum! I need to get a sandwich toaster so that I can make this at home too 🙂 What cheese did you use? Cheddar?
I think they’re quite cheap too, esp if on sale! I just used shredded Tasty cheese
Hehe..got my sandwich toaster this afternoon! I have a dumb question to ask. Does your toaster toast both sides (up and bottom)? Mine only toasted the bottom side so the toastie ended soggy since the upper side wasn’t toasted. Hmmm….

Hmm it should toast both tho, so it ‘squeezes’ the toastie shut and the cheese doesn’t leak out and it browns on both sides!
Mine also comes with interchangable plates so can use it as a grill (for meat/fish) and also waffle plates. Not sure if that’s common tho??
Hmm..then I think maybe the sandwich maker is faulty. Will take it back to the store for a replacement!
that’s just evil. now i will have thoughts of purchasing a waffle iron & one of those toastie thingees!
Its the same thing! Just swap the waffle plate to a toastie plate, it’s the same appliance that clamps it down 😉

i didn’t know that tomatoes k be squeezed in the toaster.. will try tt next time. i usu jus have ham n cheese or nutella choc..
Yep! only if you remove the squashy/watery bits in the middle, or else it makes the toastie goes all soggy.
Mmm nutella and bananas inside would be sooo good

Gaaaaah, one of my favourite favourite comfort foods! Have never had parsley on them, must try that. And oooh, last two days I have been very bad and had a toastie for breakfast, but a bit different one…it’s like a square flat croissant covered in seseame seeds toasted with ham, cheese & tomato…so good! Like a sort of condensed croissant.
