thanks for adding me. just reading through the locked posts now…

just had to comment because my bf is also aussie and he’s learning chinese too! except he has a headstart because he’s already fluent in japanese heh.

good luck to the both of you! learning languages are great fun and living abroad as a couple can be a real bonding experience 🙂

And thanks for your nice words hon!

Glad one little fishy is going well! So crappy you didn’t at least get a little bit of time off! Is good that you have a bit more time up your sleeve though to get stuff done before you go. And you guys are going to be awesome at Mandarin!

Ya.. I want total veg-out time, for maybe a month 😛

We’ll come back in 12 months and speak to you guys in Mandarin hehehe

Congrats on your new role & good luck to Chris and you learning Mandarin! I can speak/understand the Singaporean version but the China Mandarin version’s hard to pick up, it’s supposed to be very “pure”!

Thank you hon! I know what you mean… I said stuff like “hua yu” (ie. Chinese) when I was there and got frowned at and corrected hahhaha

We only laugh coz your accent sounds funny! If you can’t blog in China then just buy a new laptop/PC and we can all play Warhammer Online together. 😉

Pffttt aint funny, is brilliant! Wait’ll I speak to you in 12 months time…

I think I need a new laptop v soon, mine’s a bit cranky. *HINT HINT TO CHRIS*

Wait a minute, how did you manage to blog while you were in Shanghai? Did you figure out a way to bypass the internet filter? How? I have friends in Shanghai who are frustrated by not being able to use lj…

oh CRAP i think you’re right! I was WONDERING why i couldn’t access LJ at work.. was just thinking they sneakily blocked it in the office, cos it worked in the hotel.

I think the hotel managed to bypass it but I don’t know how to do it *cries*

Ohhhhh yes I will try, I thought they also blocked all the offshore proxy servers but hopefully some are still ok! thanks so much 🙂

YAY atleast one of them lived. Dunno if I told you or not, but the other day my friend told me Ferrits were illegal here in NZ :S

And my best guy friend is off to singapore on 25th of Nov and spending New Years there too! Jealous.

Ooh, you’ll be in China the day after my birthday. How exciting 🙂

I’m sure you can pick up mandarin easily through an intensive course. That is what they are designed for anyway!

Can’t wait to hear about your adventures in Shanghai 🙂

I think it’s the reading/writing that’s the toughest.. I feel like the speaking/listening is in my blood or something, I can pick it up easily *I hope*!!!

Don’t worry, reading and writing will just come with practice! I’ve actually been able to maintain my reading skills in Chinese by watching Chinese/Taiwanese tv shows 😛 They all have subtitles (in Chinese), so it’s also great for learning new characters now and then! Probably a bit too time consuming for you though, since you’ll be so busy busy with work.

I’m sure speaking/listening is in your blood! 😀 You have a Chinesey last name, do your parents speak Chinese?

Anyway, I know you’ll do great, nothing has ever been too hard for you 🙂

My parents don’t speak Chinese but I did study some when I was young.. and I’m convinced that since I’m Asian, it’ll come to me easily.. that’s my theory anyway 😉

does chris work for ebay too?
Your schedule looks so much fun. I’ve always dreamt of a regional position so that i can travel 🙂

Naaah he’s with Microsoft
The travel does get tiring after awhile because it’s to the same places, wish it was always different 😛

My goal is to be fluent in it in 12 months, to the point where I dream and think in Mandarin. I’m gonna do it!!

i hope your LJ stays in english! 🙂
