Carter, Carter's progress, HUNTER, CARTER & CHLOE MY SOON-TO-BE MIDDLE CHILD 3 March 2017

I look at my baby boy and I’m finally starting to realise he is less and less like a baby (well, he IS 4 years old!), and really coming into his own as a kid.

In just 4 months, he’ll be my middle child.

I wonder how his sweet lil heart will take it. The goodness in this child is incredible. He always surprises us by constantly (and I mean constantly) putting others’ needs in front of his. He’s the kid that goes through all his toys and possessions, pulling out all the best stuff so “I can give it to my friends cos they don’t have it”…. to the point where we’ve had to tell him to stop being so generous or he will have nothing left!

He lets others ahead of him in a queue, he’s hyper sensitive of people’s reactions and emotions, and he shuns toys and material objects in favour of people spending time with him.

Just how sensitive a kid is he?

Let me tell you a story…..

One day, our wedding video popped up my Facebook memories. I popped it onto our Apple TV so the kids could watch it.

When we got to the saying our vows part, Carter started sobbing! He got progressively more and more upset as the video went on.. showing our wedding dinner, speeches, people hugging, etc.

It got to the point where he could barely breathe because he was heaving and sobbing so much!

We asked him, “Why are you crying?”

“Because it’s just TOO happy… there’s just TOO much love!”

And, after a pause, he also admitted, “And…. I wasn’t there to celebrate with youuuuuu!”

(I had to bite my tongue to prevent myself from laughing)

He is also, bizzarely, incredibly eager to do homework. He doesn’t really have any (too young at 4 yrs old), but will scramble up to the table, looking frazzled, and announce “I have sooooo much homework to do!”

So then I have to come up with homework for him!

He has this Multiplication math book, which you’ll see in the photo above. And he’s self-taught himself to do it.

Am I proud of him?

Not for the fact that he gets the answers right, but for the fact that he tries SO HARD to learn – practicing over and over again – until he gets it right. And with little/no encouragement from anyone… he does it simply because he is so amusingly self-motivated to better himself.

I think his motto in life is, “Anything Hunter can do, I can do better!” 😉
