Our second visit to Wrapido @ Crows Nest, this time for a spot of brunch. The cafe comes recommended by one of Chris’ colleagues, and is a lovely place to sit al fresco and enjoy the warm sunshine. This time, it was actually really hot outside (as in, 36 celcius!!!) so we found a shady little table under a tree and settled ourselves in happily. They have a huge assortment of, you guessed it, Wraps, in all shapes and forms. However, I’m not terribly keen on wraps and their Breakfast Specials are always spectacular, so we ended up sharing 2 dishes.

Apparently, Wrapido’s self-roasted coffee is amazing.. but the 1st time we were there I had a cup and it was lovely but not particularly different to other coffee. So this time, we got a Mango & Banana Sorbet Frappe. I’m normally not huge on icy drinks, but this was FANTASTIC! The ice was so finely crushed that it didn’t crunch in my mouth or freeze my teeth. The mango and banana flavours blended beautifully and it wasn’t too sweet at all. It came in a large glass for $5.50 – pricey, but since both of us shared it, it wasn’t too bad.

Next was a Bacon, Tomato, Egg Tart, served warm. It was only so-so. The flavours were nice, but nothing spectacular.. a bit like a quiche. And strangely, we were just given mini forks, which meant it was near impossible to cut the tart to eat. Maybe the expect you to stab the tart in the middle with the fork, then gnaw at it?? Seems like that would’ve been the easiest way to eat it πŸ˜‰

We also had the Sweet Corn Fritters with Avocado Salsa, Crispy Bacon, Sour Cream and Sweet Chilli Jam. This came as a decently-sized portion and was yum!! The corn fritters could’ve been fried a little crisper on the outside, but they were large with juicy bits of corn.. and nice and filling. The avocado salsa came with healthy-sized chunks of smooth creamy avocado.. just lovely.. could have done with more of the stuff! The bacon was a lovely bit of savory goodness, though I found the dollop of sour cream on the top a bit random and misplaced, so I just shoved it all off. But the sweet chilli jam? Ooooooooooooh!!!! It was just amazing. I heaped it on the corn fritters and it gave the perfect burst of zesty, sweet, spicy flavour. Completely divine and really made the dish.

It’s a lovely place but I find their dishes are a little “hit and miss” sometimes. Also on the pricey side, so I don’t plan to visit often. Because I’m cheap πŸ˜‰
