i’m 5’8” and can fit into 23″ jeans. random guys (always overweight and gross) will yell “EAT A SANDWICH” where as if I go to a night club, pretty boys will compliment my body. I don’t care either way. I am who I am.

Sorry about your grandfather:(

I thought guys loved slim girls?! I’ve never heard a guy bag out a slim girl before.. ugh.. they’re just stupid.

And yeah, people are so ignorant. Some people just have small bone structure naturally, especially us Asians.

Ignore ’em, they’re not worth it.

Besides you’re hot so who cares what they think πŸ˜‰

It bloody annoys me how people are always quick to critisize other people! You’re either too fat, so you lose weight and then people worry about you getting too skinny and vice versa.
I wish people would just shut up sometimes!

Hehe, I’ll just get called bulimic πŸ˜› Well, at least if *I* know I don’t do weird stuff with my food, it’s ok!

Bev! from what i can see in pictures, you have a really really GREAT body! everyone just wishes they looked like you πŸ˜€ ignore those comments. in the meantime.. i hope your grandpa is okay and i really do hope that everything works out with you and chris..no matter what happens, the most important thing is to be happy. *hugs from canada*

Thanks chica πŸ™‚ I think there are just some people in this world that think it’s ok to say mean stuff to others to their faces.. it’s just silly :X

hi bev. i’m really sorry to hear about your grandpa. i hope they do the best they can to help him.

i agree with this double standard. it’s faux pas to comment rudely on an overweight person but apparently it’s quite fine to pass judgment on thin people. i enjoy eating great food too but i also happen to be thin (size 00 in american sizes and size 1 in european sizes or 23″) and i’ve been criticized all my life. yeah, it’s depressing to feel targeted for something we don’t even have control over. and even if you do consciously choose to be HEALTHY, then that automatically gives heavier people the God-given right to belittle your hardwork and turn it against you.

i think Oprah, even though she’s a great humanitarian, adds to the problem. during one show about health and fitness, a girl had a question about gaining weight because she’s really thin and she has trouble gaining weight. but Oprah completely dismissed her and made a joke about it. issues about weight, whether or you trying to lose or trying to gain, should be dealt with equally and respectfully.

i think, no matter what your size is, people should just respect other people. just act like you’re grown. ya know?

btw~you are far from anorexic! whatever you’re doing, keep doing it. you look great πŸ˜€

Thanks hon πŸ™‚

Heh you’ll love these new skinny jeans then! I think they look great IMHO.. I’m glad I didn’t see that Oprah show, I’d have been annoyed. But she’s biased I suppose as she’s always had a battle with weight?

Hi sweety
Just read all your latest entrys wow what a week!
First of all I hope everything works out for you no matter what direction you go down, just as long as you end up happy thats the main point right?
Seconly do sorry about your grandpa thats terrible Im so sorry to hear about that…

On the jeans…man i wish i could fit into them and yes thats not fair I have alot of friends who are tiny, they can’t help it some are visiting doctors trying to gain on weight!

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster.. but I’m REALLY enjoying the time by myself, doing whatever I want to do whenever I want. It’s nice πŸ™‚

Thanks for the well wishes.. it’s just really sad πŸ™

yeah it’s a bit freaky- but it totally get that some people are just skinny. My best friend in high school is a size 0 and i always been sorta jealous but not like to point of saying something nasty. and i remember she had as much trouble shopping for pants and whatnot as i do to find a decent bathing suit (but that’s another story). We all have different bodies. I wish people would just accept it. and she ate way much then i ever did. and i love eating too and people were always shocked she would eat so much. I remeber that lots of ppl thought she was anorexic in high school. of course, thoses people didn’t know her. it’s really stupid. and it really pissed me off too back then.

yeah lots of new dieases and being is more prevelant nowadays but since i’m studying dieases right now for my course. and we’ve learn alot of them. It’s really scary how much diseases can be prevented if you don’t smoke, exercice and don’t drink alcholl excessivly. Okay, we all know. and i’ve know that for a while too but being confronted with all theses different diseases made me realise that most of theses scary disaeases are preventable but unfortuntly there so many people that don’t until it’s too late. and cancer are so scary. I’m sorry for you grand-father. I hope he will be okay!

I think I’d only be jealous of people that could stay slim yet eat ANYTHING they want and do zero exercise – that would be the perfect situation that I’d want for myself… hehe. But other than that, I don’t feel jealous about girls that are thinner than me, esp if they half-starve themselves – nothing to be jealous about there πŸ˜‰

I’m glad I don’t smoke or drink much alcohol, but I eat a lot of crap and until recently I didn’t exercise… so I guess I”m still subject to some evil health issue in future :X Thanks for the wellwishes, I hope he’ll be ok too πŸ™‚

I’m sorry to hear that too πŸ™ It’s though when it affects someone close to you.. and it’s just so common nowadays!

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. Cancer really scares me, especially as my step mother passed away from it this year, and it’s just so prevalent today. I will keep your grandfather in my thoughts.

I saw that article about the jeans too. I guess I was a little shocked (and jealous!) but it’s good to see your side. There *are* people who are more petite, and they’re not necessarily even just shorter people, but people with smaller frames. I saw a girl the other day who was so small, she looked like a child but she was dressed up in a cafe uniform so she must have been 16 at least… Weird! =/

Cancer’s just so common these days, it’s really scary.

It’s not great to be too short/small, as people confuse you with a kid, like you said! Id’ rather be 5’10” and a sz 8 any day..

I feel ya! You do not look underweight at all. It seems like pant sizes vary depending on the store. There are times where I’ll fit in a 3, 4 or 5, but then at the Gap, I can fit in their size 0 and 1 =P It confuses me!

I don’t mean to cause you worry or anything, but you may want to tell your grandfather to be extra careful once he starts chemotherapy treatments. My grandfather had lung cancer as well, and the chemo made him very weak. He got up from dinner one day to go back to his room when he got really light-headed and fell, breaking his hip. He never recovered πŸ™ So I just wanted to let you know that you may want to tell him to be careful about standing up suddenly. He may want someone to be there with him to assist him.

I think I’m quite normal-sized.. just that most Asians are just normally quite slight.

Yeah, there hasn’t been any recommendation on treatment yet… but he’s really old so I’m not even sure if they can do it or if i’tll work :X Really sad..

I’m sorry to hear that too πŸ™ It’s though when it affects someone close to you.. and it’s just so common nowadays!

The only thing about the “skinny” clothes trend that bothered me was when Banana Republic introduced a size 00. Ok, so maybe I was jealous! πŸ™‚ But still, it wasn’t something for me to get outraged over. Silly.

I reckon people also forget that the tiny sizes also cater for the tweens…nowadays all the 11-13 year olds like dressing in the latest fashion and adult styles, and it’s probably just clothing brands trying to cater to that!

The people who are outraged are just jealous of skinny women. Boo hoo if we can’t all make pants that are size 14’s only. I get really tired of hearing overweight women get pissed off about those things.

And better yet, who cares if someone is skinny enough to wear them, I know so many people who are tiny enough to wear those but yet they are not anorexic whatsoever.

Ugh. People.

i guess the most annoying thing is when they vocalise it or when the media talk about it publicly.. people should just keep negative vibes to themselves :X

I’m so sorry to hear of all the ups and downs you’ve been having the past week (only just caught up with your LJ), but I can tell you’re a strong girl! *hugs*

I say sometimes people just say nasty things cos’ theyre secretly jealous; you have an awesome body and size and no one should be told otherwise!

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster.. but I’m feeling better πŸ™‚

I think when I’m REALLY anorexic or unhealthily skinny, I won’t mind the comments.. but apart from that, people can shut up πŸ˜‰

Aww Bev, I’m so sorry. My grandpa passed away from lung cancer a few years ago because the chemo/drugs just couldn’t help him anymore… but medicine changes so quickly I’m absolutely sure your grandfather will have a better chance. Just show him you love him as often as possible. πŸ™‚

You’re totally right about the media being afraid to critize “bigger” sizes but being perfectly fine beating up so-called “skinny” people. I HATE IT! Sometimes people can be so rude, I get tired of all the “well you can eat that” or “you’re so tiny” comments. It may seem like a compliment but inside it feels more like an insult, you know?

I’m sorry to hear about your grandpa πŸ™ Yeah, when you’re really old.. I’m not sure if chemo/drugs is even a good idea. It’s a bit worrying that I”m not in SG either!

Backhanded compliments are the worst… as if you get annoyed they say “Oh I was saying something nice!!” but it was actually quite a snide remark.. y’know? If that makes sense πŸ˜›

I feel ya! You do not look underweight at all. It seems like pant sizes vary depending on the store. There are times where I’ll fit in a 3, 4 or 5, but then at the Gap, I can fit in their size 0 and 1 =P It confuses me!

you do not look “disgustingly skinny”!!! don’t be sad.. I think you look totally normal.. actually, you look even better than normal! hehe

so ignore those people who say these type of things.. they are just envious they don’t have a body as fit and toned as yours! πŸ™‚ don’t be sad… *hugs*

I don’t think I look thin either, I just have light bones πŸ˜›
I do feel better about myself now that I’m exercising though.. at least I don’t feel like a lazy pig haha!

I totally agree – I hate the hypocrisy of people thinking it’s ok to criticise anyone who is smaller than average, but not someone who is larger than average. It’s one of the main reasons why I hate that Dove “Campaign for real beauty” promotion, because of their stupid “real women have curves” slogan. So naturally slim women without curves aren’t real women? Yes, that’s nice and inclusive of them! Grrr…. sorry – that topic is a bit of a pet peeve, and I’m not even tiny myself – a standard UK size 10 πŸ™‚

OH YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate that campaign!!!!!!! I can’t stand how they ONLY show larger women and not a really slim one.

And I can’t stand the magazines with their “We’re showing real girls now!” bleatings…

Hehe, we’re so grumpy πŸ˜›

I’m praying for your grandpa. πŸ™ I know what you mean…my family has a history of breast cancer, too.

I absolutely agree with you! I’m tiny everywhere – I’m barely 5′, less than 90 lbs, and I have a hard time finding clothes my size. Some people just have to realize that body types come in different shapes and sizes, and they are in no way mutually exclusive with any type of disease… they can be indicative of certain conditions, but they are NOT mutually exclusive. I can really relate with people saying I don’t look “like a woman”, I’m “not normal”, I should “eat more” (when my friends know I’m almost always eating and/or munching on something) etc etc just because I am naturally thin. Plus, I think some Asians generally have smaller waistlines (and smaller bones), although environment is another factor that can alter those dynamics.

Bottomline is that women come in all shapes and sizes, and just because you’re thin, doesn’t mean you’re anorexic. And just because you’re an average or even above average size (in the West) doesn’t mean you’re unhealthy. It’s crazy, really. πŸ™

Cancer in the family is also scary.. :X

Yep, I think Asians are just more petite and lighter in general.. I mean, it’s not a sign all Asians are anorexic or anything!! I just find it quite rude as you should never mention someone’s qualities (in a negative way) to their face

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandfather πŸ™ I am not caught up on LJ…guess I missed a lot.. i hope his treatment goes very well.

As for the jeans – my sister has always been very thin and still is. And shes only 5’2″… how much weight are you supposed to put on a small frame??? I dont think she has ever hit 105 pounds.. Maybe never 100 (about 45 kg, is that right?) , I’m not sure… that is just natural for her. She doesnt diet but shes not a huge eater either… but you couldnt say she eats like a bird either. And she does love brownies πŸ™‚

It really is natural for some people to be very slender… and others work hard at it. Every slender person is not medically ‘too thin’. Thats rediculous.

Thanks for the well wishes πŸ™‚

You’re totally right – I think the small sizing just accomodates the shorter people who generally are more petite anyway. I mean, as long as a thin girl eats, then I figure it’s fine! No need for people to be mean..

I agree with you on this!!!
People who wear small sizes aren’t necessarily anorexic/disgustingly skinny!!! They’re just petite, and born that way. (also lucky eheh) When I went to Japan, there was this skirt I wanted except the largest size they had (size L) was probably equivalent to size 8!!! I’m a size 8 but I couldn’t fit it! Everything is so petite over there.

Hehehe yeah, in japan i think I’m a large as well! Here in Australia the sizes are starting to get larger IMHO, so often, the smallest size doesn’t fit anymore (when it used to). I hate that, thats why I’m happy they’re now looking at the more petite market and releasing clothing to suit!

So sorry to hear about your grandpa. Cancer does seem a lot more prevalent now a days than it ever was before. It’s so sad. πŸ™

It always annoys me when people say rude things about anyone’s size, shape or body, whether they are small or large. People DO say nasty things about those of us in larger sizes. I hear rude comments directed towards larger people much more often than smaller people, not that I think either is okay. It’s hurtful and unproductive regardless. There are a lot of mean people in this world.

Yes… there are just so many ‘new’ diseases that can’t be cured, and is getting more and more common. It’s scary πŸ™

I reckon that people are a bit more politically correct nowadays and don’t dare say the word “fat”.. but somehow it’s okay to say really negative things about thin people?? I guess I just feel that if I don’t comment or think badly about other people, they shouldn’t do the same to me? wishful thinking πŸ˜›

I guess maybe we tend to hear or be more sensitive to the comments that more closely resemble our own issue… I hear the word “fat” all the time. I rarely hear anything about thinner people. But I suppose it’s just that I’m embarassed about being larger, so I take it to heart where as I don’t have an issue with being thin, so those comments don’t even make it into my consciousness?

I don’t know, but I think people should stop judging people on appearance period. You miss out on a lot of great connections that way!

Hee yes, I think we just hear what we’re sensitive to.. Anyways, in this case, the jeans just cater for shorty people who tend to be more petite anyway.. I don’t really think they’re for a 6′ tall girl who’s unlikely to be that narrow without being unhealthy πŸ˜›

I don’t see why regular people and even the media can be so cutting and nasty to smaller sizes… but would NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS dare to say nasty stuff to larger sizes.

Beverly, is it that different down there? I’m a plus size female and I get HORRIBLE comments on my size/weight all the damn time. It sucks for both sides equally.

I find it odd that it’s the opposite there. I get the “When do you stop eating?” questions, the stares when I’m eating out because people LOVE to see what the fat girl is gonna order, the fact I get told “You would be so much prettier if you just lost the weight/You have a pretty face but you need to lose weight.” Little do they know that I have a ongoing condition which is treated by meds that make me gain and retain weight and not so much food.

Why can’t just people leave folks well the fuck alone? Gaaah.

And sorry about your Grandpa. One would think cancer would be eradicated by now D:

I think that’s disgusting and people should be ashamed of themselves if they can speak like that about other people’s bodies.

Nowadays though, I find that people are politically correct and hold their tongue with larger folks, but it seems like it’s a free-for-all to be cutting to the thin ones. For me, people like to use the bulimic option after they see me eat.. someone said “Haha, we need to watch you now when you go to the bathroom, in case you purge all your food!” infront of everyone at the table. Needless to say, I never talked to her again πŸ˜‰

i just don’t feel anyone really has a right to comment…?? Kinda like passing judgement on whether you think someone is smart or stupid. It your own opinion, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!

I know.. really worrying πŸ™ There are so many awful diseases these days, which is why I believe it’s modern society – we’re just killing ourselves. I suppose I can’t be one to talk, since I love the evil stuff like fast food and crap.. but ugh, it’s still awful.

We are killing ourselves. I don’t think fast food is quite as bad as other things, though.

– It’s impossible to walk around in the CBD without inhaling someone’s smoke. I don’t mind what people do in their own homes, but I think it is incredibly selfish to smoke in public like that.
– Water fluoridation is banned in Sweden for health reasons, but water with fluoride in it is impossible to escape from, in Australia.
Phenylalanine (used instead of sugar in diet drinks and sugar-free gum) might also be a good thing to stay away from, despite none of the alleged connections to diseases having been confirmed yet.

There’s also something about Sydney that makes me sick. I spent almost 3 months in Europe last year and didn’t feel ill even once. I get migraines in Sydney at least once every two weeks, though.

I thought Sydney used to be so perfect.. but in the past few years it just doesn’t see as.. good?? I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve gotten used to it, or what.

Sydneysiders got ranked REALLY low in Reader’s Digest’s article on “rudest cities in the world” – d’oh!!

By exercising regularly, your metabolic rate will increase and you can stuff yourself with even more yummy and sinful food. hows that for more motivation?? πŸ™‚

Sorry to hear about ya grandpa *hugs*

Yeah, it’s a win win situation.. heh. Now that I’ve gotten into the fitness thing, it’s not so bad anymore – at least I don’t totally loathe it.

Thanks for the hug πŸ™‚ I just wish he was OK!! It’s really sad πŸ™

Those people are just jealous that they’re not skinny.

Haha my friend is like that too. She’s Filipino (is that even spelt right?), an AU size 6 and she eats like a horse. She could probably eat a horse if she tried! hehe. Everyone’s always “omg you’re so skinny! You need to eat more” and shit like that. The annoying thing is she hardly excercises, she just has a really good metabolism. But yeah, she’s absolutley gorgeous and she definitely doesn’t need to be told she looks anorexic- like you she also has shape. I think you’re both hot. hehe ♥

Some actually ARE thin too! But still like to accuse others of being anorexic or bulimic.. who knows, maybe it’s cos they are too πŸ˜›

I don’t really think it’s huge deal whether you’re really small or big.. so I don’t see why there are so many uncalled for comments like that, esp on TV!!

The only thing about the “skinny” clothes trend that bothered me was when Banana Republic introduced a size 00. Ok, so maybe I was jealous! πŸ™‚ But still, it wasn’t something for me to get outraged over. Silly.
