Michaelangeo's at Holland Village

We had such a lovely dinner at Michaelangelo’s at Holland Village (Chip Bee Gardens, to be precise), that it left us wanting to go back again for the regular menu, as what we had this evening was their Restaurant Week menu. Absolutely delicious food, ample portion sizes and very friendly staff.

Check it out below!

I didn’t think a Caesar Salad would excite me, but I liked this one. It was a large portion, with Romaine lettuce cut into bite-sized portions. The crunch of the buttery croutons was delicious, as was the bacon bits and Parmesan.

This. Was. Kickass. Calamari Fritti that was one of the nicest calamari I’ve had. The breaded fried calamari was tender, and the batter was airy and fluffy, delightfully crisp, and well seasoned. Best of all, the portion size was huge! Definitely one to share among at least two people. Don’t order this appetizer just for yourself or you’ll be very sick of calamari by the end of it..

I was, again, impressed with their Beef pepperoni and mushroom pizza. The crust was thin and so flavourful, and the spicy pepperoni was delicious. The amount of ingredients on this pizza was also pretty good, I’ve had other pizzas where the toppings are so woeful it’s obvious to all the restaurant heavily restricts the ingredients and counts it out one-by-one.

Their Lamb shank in red wine jus will delight any meat lover. The meat was fork-tender and with a beautifully rich flavour, thanks to the creamy sauce. The new potatoes were a bit of an afterthought, though, and the potato crisps were too random (and went soggy once they touched the jus). A hefty portion of new potatoes or a gratin by the side would have made this dish perfect, and added some much-needed carbs to this dish.

I loved their Flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. LOVED LOVED LOVED. It was oh-so-moist and wet, but not too sickly sweet or sticky. It was perfection. And served warm with a large dollop of ice cream? I die! Will most definitely get this dessert again.

Their Tiramisu, decorated for my birthday, was excellent as well. It was superbly ‘wet’ and oozing at the edges, with a great kick of liquor. I’d get this again anytime.

I had such an enjoyable birthday dinner here. Thanks Michaelango’s!
