Hey Bev ! I know exactly what you mean about New Years Eve – no-one I know seemed to go out / do anything spectacular. Everyone seems to have just had a quiet one….Even in Liverpool there was supposed to be a huge fireworks display, but it was cancelled!
Re: NYE
I think everyone just grew old really quickly or something π Why was the LIverpool fireworks cancelled? Weather or something? Sydney’s was cancelled last year, ‘cos the wind was just *insane*!
Re: NYE
Yep, cancelled due to bad weather :/ Typical! They had it tbe next night instead, which sort of defeated the point really! xx
Re: NYE
lol well at least 24 hrs late than never! Ours was totally cancelled last year.. but I guess then we had double the fireworks this year π

Hi!
(Jac) OMG, I have almost the same resolutions as you! Bren (my bf) totally begged me to buy the book (People Pleasers). It’s kinda embarrassing, but yeah, he thinks I get trampled on all the time – and don’t even know it! O well. Good luck to both of us! We must be strong! =)
Re: Hi!
Yup, no more blindly saying yes all the time and obdiently bending over for people!!
Hey you should get an LJ too π

Hey you should get an LJ too π
happy new year bev!
You too – hope you had a great one!
I’m like the most passive peron EVER, so I don’t know how I got dragged into the city along with the rest of the 1 million people who were supposed to be there. Got ripped off by the bus driver as I paid full fare to Circular Quay not knowing the road was blocked!! That’s like double the normal fare and I had to walk for 30 min from Hoyts to the Rocks. Walked for ages after having dinner at Pancakes on the Rocks then stood around for 3 hours waiting for the countdown. I spend most of the time playing peek-a-boo with a little baby who was looking so bored perched on his mom’s shoulder. I was bored too but the fireworks were so pretty. Totally worth it, but I wouldn’t do it again. Got ash in my hair too. Someone got into a fight where I stood and we had to back off and wait for the police to come. I was so scared they’d start throwing glass bottles, and there were many little kids nearby. Hated the cigarette smoke though – I think someone was smoking pot there as well. Just smelt funky. I did get free dinner at the Pancakes cos’ they gave me a well-done steak for the next table, I thought I’d be ok and took a bite but it was so tough I had to ask for it done medium. Still turned out burnt, but they said they wouldn’t charge me for it. I felt bad cos’ they’d probably take the money out of the pay of the girl who mixed up the orders, but the steak was AWFUL. I think I’ll only ever have the pork ribs and the crepes there from now on. Oh well. Anyways, we walked for another hour after the fireworks to Star City and waited till like 3am before driving home since there was a huge jam in the city. There was this really rude guy in the casino food court who didn’t apologise after hitting one of us with a chair, and swore when the guy who got hit wanted an apology. The nerve of the people. And I hate how they don’t enforce non-smoking signs in the casino. I hope they get booked or something. Soon.
I also went to The Entrance yesterday to watch pelicans (wow, they really looked like the ones in Finding Nemo but the beaks are more pink) with my best friend and his mom. Took pics too. Will see if he can send them to me after he recharges the camera. They were feeding the pelicans fish and it was so funny when the whole flock of them started clamping each other’s beaks and necks just to fight for it. It’s quite spectacular when you see these birds which probably stand as tall as my 5’1″ frame gliding down from the sky and landing on the water like clockwork. Apparently the council feeds them now, but it started when a seafood shop owner fed them leftover fish from his store everyday at the same time 20+ years ago. One day he was too busy and apparently the pelicans walked across the street to tap on the glass. Boy was everyone shocked! The council took over at some point since the pelicans thrived and became numerous. Cool story. They live for about 30 years. You should go someday. They are so funny to watch! And there’s a market there on weekends too. Plenty of pretty trinkets, mostly useless, but still nice to look at.
Oh, and I had a chocolate-glazed custard filled KK yesterday too! My best friend was kind enough to get some from Liverpool since he lives near there. Love the chocolate icing but the custard was too rich for me. I think the original glazed would be pure heaven. Strange though, there’s no mention of a Wynyard store on the website (www.krispykreme.com.au). I hope it’s still happening. I’ll be going there quite often! Or at least till my mom comes over to monitor me. There are so many good restaurants in Wynyard. I want to go to a Japanese BBQ restaurant near Martin place next. You’re the only other meat-lover I know amongst my gfs.
I’m talking such a lot now. Maybe I should start a livejournal instead of hijacking your posts, but I haven’t been doing a whole lot of exciting stuff in my life. Sigh. Decisions, decisions.
Hoping that all the unhappiness from the past year will be gone and world peace. I’m such a dork. I never make NY resolutions cos’ I think that if something’s that important or significant enough for me to want to achieve it, I should do it now and not wait for a time that may not come. Gloomy but true.
Cheers,
D.
Well, at least you got to get the “atmosphere” of NYE π That’s why I wasn’t keen to go right into the city.. it’s just a bit too rowdy for me. I LOVE Pancakes @ the Rocks though, esp the Devils Food Pancakes, mmmmm..
But yeah you should start a LJ, it’s free now I believe? They’re pretty addictive though, so be warned π
