Friends, Parties, Uncategorized PARTY PICS 12 May 2009

A bit random, but a few more pics from the other night, snitched from friends. The thing about Shanghai is that if you want to get out there, meet new people, and keep yourself busy, there are a WEALTH of opportunities. More than Australia, I think. It’s because of the transient nature of the expat community, which forces everyone out of their shells and it’s a case of you either get out there and meet people, or sit at home and wait for your brain to atrophy from lack of human contact. There are actually a huge number of expats in Shanghai – not that many in the same situation as us, but still young working people are abound here. We actually haven’t found ANYONE in exactly our situation – both young professionals having both been relocated by their respective companies. It’s always either a single person that’s moved here, or they have a “trailing spouse”, or they met whilst living here. It’s not good being unique, because I’d love to meet with and compare stories with people like us. But ah well, I’m still glad we found a huge group of expats to hang out with πŸ™‚

All of us at dinner. Cool decor huh?

I think Chris looks mighty fine here. Can’t really say the same for myself……….

Chris’ Edward-from-Twilight face = FAIL

A common occurence – Chris and I whispering away, up to no good

Me with an American pal!

I think Chris drank too much….

2am and Chris wanting to go home

Oh! And this was last night, @ Monday night drinks.
No other photos – was too lazy πŸ˜›

Oh, ya, and this really serves of no interest to anyone but I updated my usericons. It took me awhile to resize and upload them so I feel like I should give it a shout out here. Haha! I am random.

Yeah I agree that it’s easier to meet other new people in China than in Australia. Because everyone’s in the same situation of moving somewhere totally unfamiliar and everyone wants to have friends or it can get really lonely really fast. I think at the moment although there are a LOT of expats, the community is still small enough that it really FEELS like a community. That probably makes no sense! πŸ˜› I’m tired!
Anyway, looks like fun!

Upon Tiff’s comment I had a closer look at the 1st pic and Bev, you’re the only one doing the fork-to-mouth pose! It’s so you, everyone else looks so normal! Hahaha.

Oh yes it’s a great pose and that’s what I love about you cuz, you’re just you, no matter what the rest of the world does and thinks! *scribbles down for bridesmaid’s speech*
