A sneak peek at our ‘compound’. We moved in last Monday and the whole week has been frantic with unpacking. I have way way way more stuff than any normal person should. I had to throw out 2 waist-high cartons of shoes, and another 2 of clothes and accessories – because it wouldn’t all fit. D’oh!! But everything’s perfectly set up and organised now, and I’m delirious with homemaking happiness 😛 It feels SO GOOD to have a proper home, and we absolutely love love love the apartment, not to mention the awesome (and very central) area we’re in. It’s about a 20min walk to work or I can be lazy and catch a bus right outside and my office is 1 stop away, so maybe 5 minutes.
The road directly outside is lined with awesome restaurants and cafes – Western and Chinese alike. So no shortage of food there 😉 And there’s also a row of DVD shops (US$1 a pop for DVD quality movies!) as well as massage/spa boutiques. Brilliant!!

I’m glad we found it! It’s a nice area and lots of expats around so it just feels more normal for us, yay 🙂
hi i just randomly surfed by here.. lovely apartment.. is this where they have the Hollywood dvd shop and Better Than Hollywood dvd shop on the street just outside your apartment? Dragonfly Spa?
My friend living in Shanghai brought me to this area to buy some pirated Dvds (while i was on a hol there) and i was thinking “i really wont mind living in these apartments!”

My bf and I have been busy moving to our new apt too! omg it was the most horrible nightmare ever! we spent 3 days moving boxes and furnitures, yesterday we were moving from 10 am til 1 am!! my whole body hurts! 🙁 and our new apt is filled with boxes and furnitures everywhere!! dont even want to think about it..it just gives me headache!
Yeah it’s a huge effort!! The movers did all the moving and unpacking out of the boxes, but just placing the stuff in cupboards completely exhausted us. arghhhhhh.. Hope your unpacking went well and you settle in soon 🙂
Lucky you! last time when we moved we got some professional to move heavy furnitures (only) for us and it costs us like USD 830 for 3 hrs of moving + their driving time (!!) so this time we did everything ourselves!

Yeah it’s pretty nuts, and right in the middle of the city, the skyscrapers are basically everywhere you turn. Overwhelming!

It’s just really relaxing to be able to step outside to a quiet tree-lined area.. and not directly into the busy street (though it’s right outside the compound haha) 🙂
