About 8 or so of us met up after work for pizzzzzaaaaaaaa. Not just any ‘ol pizza, but pizza at The Australian Hotel. Just like its namesake, this heritage building offers gourmet pizzas like none other – crocodile, emu and kangaroo pizzas are all on the menu. Plus it’s not one of those gourmet pizza places that give a tiny slice of meet on each slice, oh no, here the pizzas come piled high with TONS of ingredients. Impressive! They also have an extensive menu of gourmet beers.. we had jugs of Little Creatures pale ale which went down a treat with our assortment of pizzas.

After our fill of great pizzas and beer amidst boisterous company/atmosphere, we decided to sharpen up and head next door to the Shangri-La hotel for the Sugar Hit!, a promotion they’re having for Good Food Month. $20 gets you a dessert platter and a glass of Brown Brothers dessert wine. It’s pretty pricey IMHO but you’re really paying for the ambience and novelty of it all. It was very nice lounging around on their big sofas and getting a sugar rush 😉 The dessert was really nice but not spectacular, however the dessert wine totally blew me away. I’m definitely stocking up on the stuff at home!

No such thing here in the USA as duck or lamb pizza. Looked amazing. I agree with the others, the servings of meat were incredibly generous. IMHO this is one of the 10 most interesting/unique restaurants you have ever written about.

Speaking of pizza, that’s what I had for dinner tonight! I made it myself, so it was better than delivery…but first day of eating healthy went fabulous here…not! I had a cupcake this afternoon too. Gahh!

I finally tried kangaroo meat yesterday!
That duck and lamb pizza looks interesting (very heavy though). How was it? Which one did you prefer?
I liked the Kangaroo one best, the others were both as good as each other. But the 4-cheese one was surprisingly good.. and there was another Pumpkin one that was terrific!! :)~
