omigod that is HILARIOUS!!! 🙂 but i wish you got your waffles though! i get nostalgic for my childhood foods too. and $40 for a mediocre coney dog and chili cheese fries is such crap. if anything, you can buy a waffle maker and whip some up yourself 🙂 lol. anyways, i’m from NY and i’ve never seen an A&W here before. but if their menu consists of waffles with ice cream, root beer floats, curly fries, and coney dogs, then i think i’d be ALL OVER IT if we had one. how retro! 😀

why are you leaving your office?

I ended up getting my waffles.. but at Ihop instead! Well, better than nothing right 😛

AhhhhI want to go to NY, specifically 5th Avenue 😛

I left the USA office to come bac to the Australian one!

I totally rem. A&W’s waffles!! Loved going there, and having their curly fries too. I’ve completely no idea why the US. doesn’t have…nor why they decided to pull out of S’pore. :(((

They had an A&W at singapore airport about 4 years ago… is that gone? awwww I liked the curly fries… I thought they were so amazing compared to the straight fries we have here…….

Australia A & W

Actually, there was A & W in Sydney circa 2001-2 in Maroubra (the then Stockland Mart) and Westfield Miranda, but it pulled out due to bad sales I assume. I used to go there and get root beers all the time. Thank goodness for Asian marts. I can’t live without my root beer fix.

Re: Australia A & W

Oh yes, I used to go to Taco Bell for the cheesy fries and have a large root beer. Taco Bell’s not in Miranda anymore either. Wonder why Aussies don’t like it. American fast food rocks! My fav is still McDonald’s ketchup though. Even the regular Heinz tastes weird in Australia.

“American fast food rocks!”

i agree 39239457395%! i miss taco bell, it completely pulled out of australia a few years back now. my best friend and i got a little bit too excited at the sight of a taco bell whilst holidaying in hawaii late last year & got the strangest looks from people haha 😀

although it’s not there anymore, i am curious: where was this a&w in miranda before may i ask?

Re: Australia A & W

Oh man, I remember that now.. I went past it on the bus when I used to live at Uni. Can’t believe they weren’t popular :X

Yeah, I knew I wasn’t crazy ;( Those people were looking at me like I was some crazed drug addict, haha.

Oh, was here for another week wrap up a project’s requirements before it starts being built.. leaving today tho!

Ooh the JB one I have no idea. But I suppose they still have because those A&W all over the city (in KL) still serve them. I love their waffles too. Nothing else taste as good/same I reckon.

I don’t remember any waffles. =/

If you want awesome waffles and chicken go to Roscoe’s Chicken and waffles, its southern style and SO delicious. I know there’s one in la somewhere, but I’m not sure where.

I’m sad.. think they only had them in Singapore. THey were the best waffles in the world!! Crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside and just SO GOOD :)~

you’re so adorable!

“You came all the way to America after 10 years, to EAT WAFFLES???”
they must have thought you were crazy! 🙂

anyway, waffles with ice-cream! I remember them! used to eat them in Sec 1 before they all closed down shortly after. I still wonder why, lots of people love them!

I thought there’s still one at the airport?

Waffles in Singapore, YES! I remember seeing and eating them! With a scoope of vanilla ice cream and chocolate or strawberry toppings.

That Coney dog was so sucky :X I was so depressed having paid $40 for a cab, only to get crappy fast food for my last dinner during my trip!

*cries* I went all that way for nothing ;(

My flight’s today and I work up early especially to go to Ihop before I leave for LA.. hehe

Haha. I think there were waffles! And I love their rootbeer float and curly fries. was sad when there was no more a&w left in sg.

Bev, I feel so sad that you couldn’t get the waffles you wanted. Please understand that A&W in the US is different from Singapore’s and that goes for all the other fast food outlets. The fast food outlets all differ throughout the entire US too! A burger king can be really nice in an upscale neighborhood and a really rundown one in another neighborhood. There is no consistent quality control either. Fries at McDonalds in the U.S. are also not the same as in Singapore.

“The fast food outlets all differ throughout the entire US too!”

very true. there are things at McDonalds here in Canada that I hadn’t seen at home. Like poutine (that crap is everywhere) and pizza. Sometimes in Halifax I’ve seen McLobster sandwiches advertised.

Siighhh sad.

Yeah, our Mcdonalds is different to the USA or SIngapore. I LOVE Australia’s though, great fresh beef 🙂 McLobster sandwiches sounds awesome!

I’ve never tried it, but I’ve seen it on the board outside one location here in Halifax ^^ Poutine, as far as I can tell is a French Canadian thing, but I’ve seen on dozens of menus around Atlantic Canada. It’s french fries covered with cheese curds and gravy. Heart attack central. Apparently it’s tasty but I don’t plan to find out lol

Yes, there were waffles! Remember pulling my mom into A & W, and having waffles with icecream.

Did A & W close down? hmmm..didn’t realise that! The last I saw was in AMK.
